The Alan Moore and David Lloyd V For Vendetta graphic novel has already had a great feature film adaptation, but now it sounds like it will get a TV series adaptation as well!
The news comes from Bleeding Cool, who says that the British TV network Channel 4 is the one producing it. Channel 4 is the same broadcaster and developer of projects such as Ultraviolet, Humans, Black Mirror, Utopia, Misfits, Crazyhead, Dead Set and Philip K Dick’s Electric Dreams.
There are no other details than that. We have no idea what kind of talent is working on the series, but the network has a solid resume of series that they've produced so there's a good chance that the series will end up at least being a decent show.

I love horror films that are set in the past, before mobile phones, internet, even before cars; the more isolated, the better, without the distraction of modern life interrupting what makes us truly afraid. When all you have is other humans and nature and the thin line that separates you from violence and insanity. Such seems to be the case with The Lighthouse, a new feature film directed by Chris Crow (Devil's Bridge, Panic Button) and produced by David Lloyd (Devil's Bridge). Starring Michael Jibson (Les Miserables, The Riot Club) and Mark Lewis Jones (Troy, Master and Commander), it tells the true story of the Smalls Island incident of 1801, off the coast of Wales. Quite macabre, and all the more sinister for being plucked...

Doug “Dougie” Braithwaite is one of a few comics artists who can make pencils look like the beautiful strokes of a paintbrush. This skill made Braithwaite a perfect choice for DC Comics’ 2007 Justice maxiseries, which was an homage to the old Super Friends vs. Legion of Doom. He pencilled the comic while Alex Ross co-wrote and painted over his pencils. Braithwaite has done a variety of work for Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, and most recently, Valiant. (He is doing the art for this week’s Imperium #1, a new concept with writer Joshua Dysart.) Braithwaite excels at depicting larger than life characters in fantastic situations with human flaws. This made him a great fit for the Asgardian side of the Marvel Universe where he worked on Thor with Matt Fraction as well as helping launch the Journey into Mystery series featuring Kid Loki with fellow British creator Kieron Gillen. However, before he was drawing gods,...

A few thoughts before my weekly round up...
Before I sit and watch this first episode of Gotham, I am forced to consider what it could be, what could happen, what shape it might take.
You see, first and foremost...I am a Batman fan. To me, Batman will always be the epitome of the vigilante: I see his struggle not as an addendum to the law, not as a political statement, or even a psychosis waiting to be diagnosed. Instead I see one man's struggle to find peace with a world with which he empathises. Through the personal experience of childhood trauma he can see through the eyes of others and in him burns a desire to correct those injustices because he can.
Batman's purpose is political only through its apolitical nature: In Alan Moore's and David Lloyd's V for Vendetta, V is lauded for saying:...

We're back with the horror highlights of Day 2 of this year's Sdcc, and you better rest up! On tap are "The Walking Dead," "Bates Motel," "Sleepy Hollow," Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, Scream Factory, and More!
What you'll find below is just the tip of the iceberg (and it does include a few "fringe" panels that we thought might be interest). Be sure to visit the official San Diego Comic-Con 2014 website for the full lineup.
Day 2: Friday, July 25, 2014
10:00 Am - Publishers Weekly: Behind the Digital Line
As digital comics have become a driving force of the medium, more publishers and creators have launched digital first lines of comics. How do publishers and creators deal with the unique properties of the web and tablet? How do readers react? Are they an evolution from webcomics or their own medium? And how will technological evolution affect storytelling as more choices arise? Pw's...

Another day, another schedule for the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con. Next up is Day 3 - Saturday, July 14th - which is just about as chock-full of events for the horror crowd as Friday the 13th!
As always, our focus is the horror panels, but included are a few others that we think will be of interest as well. Remember that times and participants are subject to change so keep your eyes on the official Sdcc site for updates. And hopefully they'll provide a fix soon for the Sdcc smartphone app - in years past it's been extremely helpful.
10:00-11:00 Comic-Con How-To: Anatomy of a Fight Scene, Part One— Stories are about conflict, and there is no purer form of conflict than a good ol' fisticuffs-style brawl-or sword fight, laser battle, western shootout, or even two chicks pulling each other's hair. How do you put that much action down on...

The public needs to know the truth about wars. So why have journalists colluded with governments to hoodwink us?
In the Us Army manual on counterinsurgency, the American commander General David Petraeus describes Afghanistan as a "war of perception . . . conducted continuously using the news media". What really matters is not so much the day-to-day battles against the Taliban as the way the adventure is sold in America where "the media directly influence the attitude of key audiences". Reading this, I was reminded of the Venezuelan general who led a coup against the democratic government in 2002. "We had a secret weapon," he boasted. "We had the media, especially TV. You got to have the media."
Never has so much official energy been expended in ensuring journalists collude with the makers of rapacious wars which, say the media-friendly generals, are now "perpetual". In echoing the west's more verbose warlords, such as the...
