Graduated with honors from Yale University at the age of twenty. Moved to Los Angeles to work on "thirtysomething" (1987) and "Beverly Hills, 90210" (1990) during the 1980s. Moved on to other works for Nickelodeon and Disney.

Directed Steve Martin in two remakes: Cheaper by the Dozen (2003) and The Pink Panther (2006).
