Nominated in 1986 for The Costume Design Emmy Category, "Murder, She Wrote - Widow Weep For Me", Al Lehman won his Emmy Award for the television mystery series featuring Angel Lansbury. "Jessica Fletcher" began the 1984-85 pilot season dressed as a frumpy tweedy tailored English mystery writer living in Cabot Cove, Maine. Angela insisted her "Jessica Fletcher" character should have more of a stylish look. Part of this fashion transition was to incorporate the "turbin" head gear Angela had worn in the Jerry Herman Broadway musical "Mame". The "turbin" head pieces were made in New York by the costume house who had provided the head-pieces for the Broadway stage production. Angela dictated her costume upgrade from frumpy to stylish! The producers, consenting with the demand, allowed the upgrade in costume treatments. Angela Lansbury, after Al won his Emmy, always thought she deserved half the credit for his award.
