Cronenberg’s new feature, a co-production between Canada and France, received €500,000 – the largest amount awarded in this round of funding. Vincent Cassel plays a widower who creates a device that allows you to connect with the dead. Diane Kruger and Guy Pearce also star in the thriller.

The Eurimages Project Evaluation Session of 2023 have just been announced and among the 32 supported films we have some veteran filmmakers in David Cronenberg (The Shrouds), Agnieszka Holland (The Green Border) and Kirill Serebrennikov (Disappearance aka La disparition) landing some significant coin amounts. Also grabbing some noteworthy sums of euros are filmmakers Burhan Qurbani (No Beast So Fierce), Jonathan Millet (Lives of Hamid), Nóra Lakos (I Accidentally Wrote a Book) and Scandi helmers Jeanette Nordahl (Connections) and Fanny Ovesen (Laura). Alberdi, Grude, Lozinski and Koguashvili set to compete in main competition.
The International Documentary Festival Amsterdam (Idfa) has unveiled the line-up for its 29th edition, which is set to take place Nov 16-27.
The 15-title competition line-up includes Chilean director Maite Alberdi’s The Grown Ups, about four adults living with Down’s syndrome.
It follows her award-winning Tea Time about five septuagenarians who have been meeting for tea and cake once a month for 60 years.
Other contenders include Mogadishu Soldier by prolific Norwegian documentary producer and director Torstein Grude; respected Polish documentarian Pawel Lozinski’s exploration of a mother and daughter’s relationship You Have No Idea How Much I Love You, and Gogita’s New Life by Georgian director Levan Koguashvili, which follows a recently-released prisoner’s search for a wife.
Koguashvili is best known internationally for his fiction feature Blind Dates.

France’s Snd is set to launch sales on a trio of new titles at the Cannes Marché, including Julien Rappeneau’s quirky romantic comedy Rosalie Blum.
It is a debut feature for Rappeneau, who is best known as a writer, his credits including father Jean-Paul Rappeneau’s upcoming Families (Belles familles), pop icon Claude Francois bio-pic My Way and Jérôme Salle’s The Burma Conspiracy and Zulu.
An adaptation of popular graphic novel Rosalie Blum, the film revolves around a lonely, thirty-something hairdresser who starts to secretly investigate a 50-year-old woman who seems vaguely familiar.
His clumsy detective work makes her suspicious and she in turn asks her niece to investigate him – a game of hide-and-seek begins with unexpected results.
