Exclusive: Watchmen actress Jolie Hoang-Rappaport is going back to school. She is the latest to join the roster of the Head of the Class reboot at HBO Max.
Created by Rich Eustis and Michael Elias, the original Head of the Class ran on ABC from 1986-91. It followed a group of gifted students at the fictional Millard Fillmore High School in Manhattan and their history teacher Charlie Moore, played by Howard Hesseman.
The reimagined series isn’t too far from the original but will modernize it and swaps gender of the teacher. It revolves around a group of overachieving high school students who meet their greatest challenge — teacher Alicia Adams, who wants them to focus less on grades and more on experiencing life. The news of Hoang-Rappaport’s casting comes after Deadline exclusively reported that One Day at a Time actor Isabella Gomez will be stepping into the role of Alicia Adams.

Exclusive: Veteran talent agent Bonnie Liedtke is leaving Wme to transition to management. She will join Principato-Young Entertainment. “Bonnie’s track record of breaking young talent and her wealth of experience will be an incredible asset to our firm. We’re thrilled to have her join our team,” Peter Principato and Paul Young said. Liedtke — who has launched the careers such young actors who went on to become stars as Leonardo DiCaprio, Hilary Swank and Zac Efron — joined Wma as a talent agent in 2007, specializing in young talent. She was previously a partner and owner of both Gold/Liedtke and TalentWorks. It is yet unclear who of Liedtke’s clients will continue with her on the management side. The hire of Liedtke continues Principato-Young’s expansion into the young talent business. Earlier this year, the company acquired Nils Larsen’s Elements Entertainment whose clients include Shailene Woodley, Jason Dolley and Haley Kiyoko.
