Jacques Languirand, who was nearly 80 years old when Mars and April (2012) was shot, wore an ear-piece so that his wife, Nicole Dumais, could feed him his lines off set. It was the radio host's first leading role in a feature film.
He was awarded the C.M. (Member of the Order of Canada) on December 21,
1987 and the O.C. (Officer of the Order of Canada) on May 8, 2003 for
his services to communications in Canada.

Author of plays including 'Les violons de l'automne', he is mostly known in Canada as a broadcaster at CBC / Radio-Canada. His 'Par quatre chemins' weekly radio show was on air for 43 years.
