Doctor Who script editor Scott Handcock has teased the return of a past guest star in the forthcoming Christmas special.
This year’s festive period will see Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa take over as the 15th Time Lord in the long-running saga.
He’ll be joined by Coronation Street actor Millie Gibson, who was announced as the new companion during Children in Need in November.
While there’ll be plenty of new faces, Handcock has said that a character from 2005 will make a return.
“As we get into the second week of our Christmas Special shoot, a guest star from 2005 returns; one of our writers delivers their fourth draft of a script for Block Three; a hero prop gets its first unveiling in a Block Three tone meeting, and Block Four director Ben Chessell starts work with the crew in Cardiff,” the script editor wrote in the latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine.

'Big Brother' was the most complained about television show of the year. The Channel 5 reality series received over 3,700 complaints, most of which were about the show's winner, Helen Wood, and how she treated the other housemates, according to figures released by broadcasting watchdog Ofcom. 'Celebrity Big Brother' - which was won by Gary Busey - received over 1,800 complaints, many of which were about the 70-year-old Hollywood actor. Some of the nation's biggest soaps - 'Coronation Street', 'Emmerdale' and 'EastEnders' - were also the subject of complaints to Ofcom. Todd Grimshaw (played by Bruno Langley) and Marcus Dent's (played by Charlie Condou)...

Charlie Condou feels it's the ''right time'' to leave 'Coronation Street'. The actor is to bow out of the soap next week when his character Marcus Dent's relationship with Todd Grimshaw (Bruno Langley) hits the rocks and Charlie feels content with his decision, as he's been involved in lots of exciting storylines during his time on the cobbles. Appearing on ITV's 'Good Morning Britain' earlier today (09.07.14), he said: ''I was in 'Corrie' for a year [initially], I left for a few years and then I went back just for three months. They asked me to stay and before I knew it,...

Samia Ghadie has ''found it tricky'' to see her character take a darker turn. The soap star plays Maria Connor in the show, and the fictional hairdresser has suffered a meltdown after catching her boyfriend Marcus Dent (Charlie Condou) with Todd Grimshaw (Bruno Langley). Asked about the change, Samia told the Daily Mirror newspaper's We Love TV magazine: ''I have found it tricky, to be honest, because Maria is usually so nice. She has always been a victim. ''But I can understand why she's had a breakdown - years ago she had a stillbirth, her husband Liam was murdered and then she got...

The 'Corrie' beauty recently split from boyfriend Marcus Dent (Charlie Condou) after catching him cheating with Todd Grimshaw (Bruno Langley) and turns to Tyrone for support. When Maria begins developing feelings for ex-boyfriend Tyrone, she tries to kiss him but...

'Coronation Street' has sparked outrage over a gay kiss scene. The ITV soap featured a raunchy half-naked embrace between Todd Grimshaw (Bruno Langley) and Marcus Dent (Charlie Condou) last week, which caused around 100 viewers to complain to Ofcom because the ''sexually suggestive'' scene aired before 8pm when many children were watching. Next week will see the explosive return of Todd Grimshaw to the Coronation Street cobbles as Bruno Langley returns to the soap after a near-decade absence.
The openly-gay character will cause frictions with residents of the street, with more than a few regulars less than happy to see his face again.
In scenes that are bound to shock, Jason will be stunned by the return of his errant brother, while feathers will be ruffled as Todd makes advances on Maria Connor’s bisexual boyfriend Marcus Dent.
Todd, who was last seen in the soap back in 2004, announced his return to the ITV 1 show back in June, with his comeback scenes to air on 4 November.
For long-term fans of the TV series, the return of Todd will bring back some old memories and a healthy dose of nostalgia, and it’s got us thinking who else we’d like to see return to Coronation Street.

Hello. My name is John Bensalhia and I'm a freelance journalist. There, that should leave you hurling abuse and running for the hills.
Let's face it, journalists don't really have a very good press – they're a rung or two above bankers, accountants, Inland Revenue staff and parking ticket inspectors, but there's still a stench of doubt whenever you mention the word journalist, which I think is massively unfair - but then I would say that. But then, given some of the more sensationalist members of the media, maybe those sneers aren't as misplaced as you may think.
The new reboot of Doctor Who's proving to be particularly good at targeting modern day trends, whether they're the superficial lifestyles of the likes of Posh And Becks (The End Of The World ), political manifestos (Aliens Of London/World War Three) or now media manipulation. This seems to be a particular target...

The 23-year-old actor, who played Weatherfield's Adam Barlow from 2004 to 2007, claimed that the story was abandoned because it was seen as too similar to Todd Grimshaw's (Bruno Langley) long-running sexuality struggles.
