Invincible Season 2 just dropped its seventh episode and the Amazon Prime Video series continues to be amazing and intriguing. Besides the stellar permanent cast of Steven Yeun, J.K. Simmons, and Sandra Oh playing the Grayson family, the series also has numerous guest stars both in seasons 1 and 2. Robert Kirkman earlier explained how he got the likes of Mark Hamill and Seth Rogen voicing different roles on his show.
Steven Yeun voiced the role of Mark Grayson / Invincible in the series
Kirkman explained that rather than auditioning the actors for their roles, the series invited these prominent actors to voice different roles. Some of the cast were privy to voice work, while the others blindly trusted Kirkman and the Invincible team to join the series.

It’s been 30 months since Season 1 of “Invincible” — the animated adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s popular comic book series — wrapped up on Prime Video, but don’t expect the show to spend time catching audiences up on the story when it finally returns Nov. 3. “I mean, we live in a modern era where everything is available,” says Kirkman, who also executive produces the show. He adds with a laugh, “Almost no consideration was made on that front.”
Instead, Season 2 plunges viewers right back into the tumultuous life of high school senior and titular superhero Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), as he and his human mother Debbie (Sandra Oh) deal with the fallout from the devastating revelation that Mark’s father, Nolan (J.K. Simmons) — a.k.a. the equally indestructible Omni-Man — is part of fascistic alien race bent on galactic domination. The show also picks up the storylines of its robust supporting cast,...

Prime Video plans a Nov. 3 rollout for the second season of superhero saga Invincible, sharing a teaser trailer today at San Diego Comic-Con.
In addition to the second season, Prime announced Invincible Atom Eve, a standalone episode centered on the titular character, which will premiere July 21 on Prime Video.
Season 1 premiered in March 2021. In April 2021, the series was renewed for Seasons 2 and 3.
From The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman and based on the Skybound/Image comic of the same name by Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, Invincible is an hour-long, adult animated superhero show that revolves around seventeen-year-old Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), who’s just like every other guy his age — except that his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet, Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons).
But as Mark develops powers of his own, he discovers that his father’s legacy may not be as heroic as it seems.

He may be invincible, but he sure isn’t speedy. Almost two years after its March 2021 premiere, the Amazon Prime Video animated series “Invincible” announced that it will premiere its second season…during a vague “late 2023” window.
The news was accompanied by an announcement teaser, featuring main protagonist Mark (voiced by Steven Yeun) and Allen the Alien (Seth Rogen) dining at a burger joint, where Allen lampoons the long wait between seasons.
“What have you been up to? It’s been a while,” Rogen quips as Allen. “I think everyone agrees it’s been, like, a little ridiculous how long it’s been.”
“I’ve been busy writing, designing, storyboarding, voice acting, key posing, in-betweening, cleaning up, color slapping, comping the whole thing, and all that for, you know, roughly thousands of shots,” Yeun replies. “So, it’s kind of a lot.”

After two years without an update, “Invincible” is back … almost. The series is set to return for its second season on Amazon Prime Video in late 2023, as was revealed in a teaser featuring Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) and Allen the Alien (Seth Rogen) discussing the upcoming episodes.
“What have you been up to? It’s been awhile,” Allen says to Mark as they dine at Burger Mart. “I think everyone agrees it’s been, like, a little ridiculous how long it’s been.”

Casting director Linda Lamontagne got her start in sitcoms including “Roseanne” and “Cybill” in the early 1990s but less than a decade later she made a full-time pivot to voiceover for animated comedies and films. Crediting “Family Guy” as the title that truly turned the tide for her, she then went onto such projects as “The Magic School Bus Rides Again” franchise, “The Angry Birds” movie, “The Powerpuff Girls,” “Tuca & Bertie” and, most recently, “Invincible,” for Amazon Prime Video.
What made you want to get into voice casting and how different is your process than when you were in live action?
It sort of found me. The first animated thing I did was “The Last Halloween,” this CBS special, and I thought, “This is kind of cool.” And then “Family Guy” turned my career around because all of a sudden I was only known for animation. It is different casting,...

Amazon Prime Video’s animated superhero series “Invincible” does this cute thing with its title card that, as great title sequences often do, slowly comes to define the story’s tone. Basically, the title isn’t displayed until a character says the word “invincible,” and even when they do, you don’t hear them say it — the show just cuts away to a full-screen image of “Invincible” in bright yellow font with a sky-blue backdrop. So in the third episode, the title cuts in after about four minutes, right in the middle of a gloomy scene. Episode 2 drops it at almost exactly the same time (though during a cheeky bit of foreshadowing), and in the premiere, the title card pops up with only 10 minutes left in the episode.
How, exactly, the premiere incorporates its title is a) a pretty big spoiler, and b) integral to establishing the kind of show “Invincible” really is,...

The small screen is already filled with crime-fighting capes and predictable high-flying capers. But in comes “Invincible,” Amazon’s forthcoming hourlong adult animated drama, aiming to give a much-needed shake-up to the oversaturated superhero genre.
Based on the prolific “Walking Dead” writer Robert Kirkman’s comics series, “Invincible” distorts the expected in both its plot devices and its production decisions.
“While all of these stories have similar tropes and traditions, Robert does a great job of meeting those expectations and then messing with those expectations too,” says J.K. Simmons, one of the show’s stars.
The eight-parter, debuting on Amazon Prime Video on March 26, revolves around Mark Grayson (voiced by Steven Yeun), an average 17-year-old who just happens to be the son of Omni-Man (Simmons), the most potent mustachioed superhero on Earth and beyond. Amid homework, bullies, girls and superhero duties, Mark discovers that Omni-Man may not be as benevolent...

TV has used rotoscope animation before, but never has it been used in every scene of an ongoing series — until now. Amazon’s upcoming half-hour drama/sci-fi/comedy hybrid “Undone” screened its first two episodes at Comic-Con Thursday afternoon, wowing a large crowd with the trippy story of a young woman investigating her past to solve the mystery of her father’s death.
Star Rosa Salazar took part in a panel discussion following the screening, alongside co-creators and executive producers Kate Purdy and Raphael Bob-Waksberg, and the “Alita: Battle Angel” actress said she “immediately connected” to the story — before she was even told her performance would go through rotoscope animation.

[Editor’s Note: The following contains spoilers from “BoJack Horseman” Season 5, Episode 2, “The Dog Days Are Over.”]
Beneath the animated, anthropomorphic, and pun-tastic exterior of“BoJack Horseman” is a brilliantly satirical series that conveys an uncanny authenticity when it comes to representing the troubled side of the human emotional experience. That’s why it rang false that the Vietnamese American character Diane Nguyen was voiced by white actress Alison Brie. In January, creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg tweeted out a mea culpa about the cartoon whitewashing, and discussed with IndieWire how his “colorblind” casting didn’t result in inclusivity or proper representation, which he was determined to improve on his show.
While “BoJack Horseman” has increased its casting of people of color, in “The Dog Days Are Over” the show was able to increase inclusivity behind the scenes as well. In the episode, Diane is left adrift after divorcing Mr. Peanutbutter and heads to Vietnam, where her parents are from.

BoJack Horseman, one of the very best shows on television, returned for a wonderful — and, somehow, darker than ever — third season on Friday, and Netflix ordered a fourth season later that day. I'll have an episode-by-episode breakdown later this week, but I'm first pleased to bring you this long conversation with BoJack creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg. (Note: We did this a week and a half ago, prior to the renewal announcement, so his last answer refers to the show's fate being up in the air, even as he talks about plans for what he wants to do next with it.) Originally, I had intended to only ask questions about the season's remarkable fourth installment — one of the best episodes of TV I've seen all year — a largely dialogue-free installment set underwater, where BoJack's attempt to promote Secretariat at a film festival on the ocean floor goes awry. But then I realized...
