Another “Gavin and Stacey” Christmas episode is officially happening.
James Corden and Ruth Jones, the creators and stars of the classic British sitcom, took to Instagram on Friday to share a photo of them holding the script for an episode titled “the finale.”
“Some news… It’s official!!!” Corden and Jones wrote. “We have finished writing the last ever episode of ‘Gavin and Stacey.’ See you on Christmas Day, BBC One. Love Ruth and James.”
Premiering in 2007, “Gavin and Stacey” follows the title characters, a boy from Essex and a girl from Wales (played by Mathew Horne and Joana Page), as well as Corden’s Smithy and Jones’ Nessa. As the show’s plot description reads, “Gavin and Stacey have been continuing their romance online and by telephone for the last six months. Now they want to be together, but will their friends and family let them?”

James Corden and Ruth Jones have written a final episode for Gavin And Stacey – a special Christmas edition.
A report earlier this year suggested that a Gavin And Stacey Christmas special was in the works, which Ruth Jones later denied. However, the BBC has now confirmed that Corden and Jones have written a Christmas special, which will also be the final episode.
No details about plot or cast have been revealed, but the series regulars, including Corden as Smithy, Jones as Nessa, Steadman as Pam, Brydon as Uncle Bryn, Davis as Dawn, Mathew Horne as Gavin, Joanna Page as Stacey, Melanie Walters as Gwen, Larry Lamb as Mick and Adrian Scarborough as Pete, are expected to return.
When Ruth Jones and James Corden brought Gavin And Stacey back for a Christmas special five years ago, around 18 million people tuned in. In modern TV terms, that’s an astonishing achievement.

It’s been confirmed. Deadline’s scoop from earlier this year that another Gavin & Stacey Christmas special was in the works has been rubberstamped and it will be the smash comedy’s final ever.
Posting on Instagram in the past few minutes, co-creators James Corden and Ruth Jones wrote: “Some news… It’s official!!! We have finished writing the last ever episode of Gavin and Stacey. See you on Christmas Day, BBC One. Love Ruth and James.”
Deadline had revealed that the episode was in the works several weeks back, although multiple members of the cast quickly sought to downplay our story. Baby Cow, Corden’s Fulwell 73 and Ruth Jones’ Tidy Productions are behind the special.
Gavin & Stacey is doubtless one of the most beloved British sitcoms of all time and the 2019 Christmas special was the most-watched show in a decade at more than 18 million viewers.

Women of My Billion (Womb), a documentary about the forms of violence faced by women in India, will premiere exclusively on Prime Video India on May 3. Produced by Apoorva Bakshi and Monisha Thyagarajan’s Awedacious Originals in association with Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ Purple Pebble Pictures, the documentary follows protagonist Srishti Bakshi on a walking pilgrimage across India – spanning 3,800 km over 240 days – to talk to women from various backgrounds about their struggles and dreams. “Women have borne the brunt of gender bias for far too long, enduring a silent struggle against entrenched social injustices that seek to suppress their voices. With Womb, the aim is to transcend these struggles – to be a beacon of hope,” said Chopra Jonas, Producer at Purple Pebble Pictures. “Womb is not merely a depiction of pain and suffering, but a rallying cry and call for solidarity and action.

Gavin & Stacey’s 2019 Christmas special was huge. Bigger than huge. Do some bad maths, and you could even say that it was watched by one in three people in the UK population (you’d be wrong but when has that ever stopped anybody making statistical assertions).
Outside of state funerals, royal weddings or pandemic lockdown broadcasts, nothing much on British TV gets over 18 million viewers, let alone something nice, and the 2019 Gavin & Stacey Christmas special was very nice. Which is why they’re rumoured to be doing another one.
As reported by Deadline, but yet to be confirmed by the BBC or the show’s production companies, Ruth Jones and James Corden have written a new episode, which is due to film this summer “with a view to airing at Christmas time this year, five years on from the previous ratings-topping special.” The news coincides with Corden’s return to...

Exclusive: Beloved BBC sitcom Gavin & Stacey is set to return for another bite at the Christmas cherry.
Deadline understands the sitcom from James Corden and Ruth Jones will film a new episode over the summer with a view to airing at Christmas time this year, five years on from the previous ratings-topping special.
We are told the special is in development/pre-production and cameras will roll in a few months time on the show, which is produced by Steve Coogan’s Baby Cow, Jones’ Tidy Productions and Fulwell 73, which is co-owned by Corden.
Gavin & Stacey is doubtless one of the most beloved British sitcoms of all time and the 2019 Christmas special was the most-watched show in a decade at more than 18 million viewers.
Mild spoiler: It ended with a cliffhanger, with Nessa (Jones) proposing to the ever-cheeky but loveable Smithy (Corden). That cliffhanger has led to undimmed chatter...

Warning: contains spoilers for The Gold episodes 1 – 6.
In the final moments of BBC drama The Gold, the special taskforce investigators come to a ground-shaking realisation: all this time, they’ve only been chasing half of the swag, £13 million of the £26 million’s worth of bullion stolen in the infamous 1983 Brink’s-Mat bullion robbery. By 1986 they’d put away a handful of villains who committed or profited from the heist, but that was far from the extent of it. “Where do we start?” asks Di Brightwell. “At the beginning,” answers Dci Boyce.
It remains to be seen if The Gold will return to BBC One to tell the rest of the Brink’s-Mat story, but if does, there’s plenty of material. The investigation has continued decades after the event, as the cash was followed into international drug imports, original convictions were spent, and several suspects were killed in gangland executions years later.

A greasy spoon cafe, filled with the usual markers of somewhere you know you will get a good cuppa and fry up, is the stage for Director Paul Holbrook’s enigmatic short Old Windows – a film which we highlighted as a standout of last year’s The Shortest Nights’ programme. Holbrook worked meticulously with co-writer Laura Bayston, who also co-produced and stars, to create an incredibly tightly scripted piece of work where every question, answer and gesture is carefully thought out and layered with nuanced additional meaning. A seemingly mundane interaction between a cafe owner and a customer, deftly played with a worrying hint of menace by Larry Lamb, brims with subverted meaning and undefinable weight making it a captivating and active watch we couldn’t take our eyes off for fear of missing even the slightest detail. Old Windows bathes you in the orange hues of golden hour which...

Hounded, also released as Hunted outside the UK, is the latest cinematic variation on The Most Dangerous Game. It takes elements from films like Don’t Breathe, Nefarious, and Turkey Shoot then adds the very upper-class British tradition of fox hunting. The result is a not-so-subtle survival horror metaphor for class warfare.
Leon and his brother Chaz along with their partners Vix and Tod have a good racket going on. Gregory, the local antique dealer hires them to rob his own customers. It’s good money for a quick in and out, grabbing the one item of value he wants.
Having made enough to send Chaz to college, Leon is ready to retire. The others however want one more job to set themselves up.

Reflections on the heyday of scandalous Fleet Street likely won’t stir Broadway audiences with the same vigor that roused the West End when Ink debuted there in 2017. Little matter. James Graham’s play is so well-crafted that not knowing your Sun from your Mirror is a fairly minor hindrance.

Lovable British rogues have enthralled cinema goers for the better part of a century in classic London crime capers like Brighton Rock, The Lavender Hill Mob, The Italian Job and The Long Good Friday, through to McVicar, Lock Stock, Sexy Beast and Legend (2015). Even when brandishing knuckle dusters, plotting to off little old ladies, threatening to shit the Ira or taking their shirts off (cas they’re “sweating like a c*%t”), these antiheroes have made a massive mark in cinema over the decades. Despite being synonymous with heist movies they are arguably a genre unto themselves yet, but while the widespread affection remains, there hasn’t been a truly memorable cockney/ London crime film or character for quite some time.
In 2015, the infamous Hatton Garden robbery, in which £200 million’s worth of cash and jewels were stolen from safety deposit boxes, provided film producers with the basis for a fresh and relevant take.

A remarkable true story set over one long Easter weekend; The Hatton Garden Job follows four ageing East End criminals – led by 76 year-old Brian Reader (Larry Lamb, TV’s EastEnders, Gavin & Stacey) – and one mystery man (Matthew Goode, The Imitation Game, TV’s Downton Abbey), who pull off the largest heist in English legal history. An attempt at a super cool, stylish crime caper, a la Guy Ritchie, The Hatton Garden Job falls flat on its face because, well, Guy Ritchie didn’t make it. Imagine a Vauxhall Nova with a very expensive body kit, big noisy exhaust and go faster stripes down the sides. To the driver it might feel and sound like they’re driving a car from The Fast and the Furious franchise but to everyone else, it just looks like a Vauxhall Nova with some money thrown at it. And thrown in all the wrong places.
Based on the real life events that took place in April 2015 – Ronnie Thompson is the first, and unlikely to be the last, director to bring this remarkable story to the silver screen, of when four elderly men pulled off the heist of the century – stealing over £200m worth of items.

When watching the news back in April 2015, to watch on as the events surrounding the Hatton Garden heist unravelled – where four elderly men pulled off one of the most ambitious robberies of all time – it was impossible to not envisage a movie. Lo and behold, barely two years on, and the first cinematic endeavour depicting this astonishing tale is set to hit our screens – and HeyUGuys were fortunate enough to be invited on to the film’s London set.
The set was notable for its commitment to authenticity, with real life equipment – such as a monumental drill – being used to reenact the break-in sequences, to not only enrich the experience for the actors, but for the viewers too. However director Ronnie Thompson told us that he’s blending realism with a more overtly cinematic approach, vying to find the humour within this ordeal, and play up to it accordingly.

2016 was a great year for Zackary Adler. The New York born director has become a sort of a cult figure amongst fans of gritty British gangster movies; a genre which despite racking up hit after hit has until now remained on the fringes of the British film industry.
After the record-breaking success of his recently released films Rise of Krays (2015) and The Fall of The Krays (2016), Adler has also just finished directing the third instalment and prequel to Rise of the Footsoldier , a franchise based on real life events surrounding the Rettendon Triple Murders, better known as The “Range Rover murders”. The film will be released by Signature Entertainment later this year. And if that wasn’t enough, Adler is also about to start shooting the third instalment of his Krays franchise, titled The Krays And The Mafia.

Back in 2015, Britain witnessed a robbery that could have been straight out of the movies. It was a throwback crime to the days of the Great Train Robbery of 1963, a crime which made the likes of Buster Edwards and Ronnie Biggs household names. It was only a matter of time before this new story was adapted for the big screen and The Hatton Garden Job is just that film.
The Hatton Garden Job is directed by Tower Block and I Am Soldier writer and director Ronnie Thompson, though looking at the new trailer anyone would think this has a touch of Guy Ritchie about it. The cast is none too shabby either; the gang of aging criminals is lead by Brian Reader who is played by Larry Lamb who may be most recognisable as Gavin’s Dad in Gavin and Stacey. He also had the evil role...

George Lamb is a ''terrible'' actor. The 35-year-old presenter has admitted he has no plans to follow in the footsteps of his father Larry Lamb - who has starred in 'EastEnders' and 'Gavin & Stacey' - by becoming an actor because he doesn't think he's ''up to it''. George exclusively told Bang Showbiz: ''I tried it once in a short film and I really didn't believe myself. I thought I was terrible. I always thought it was really easy and I thought, I don't know what all this buzz is around it but I find it really difficult. Generally, I don't really...
