Mick Lally was born on November 10, 1945 in Tourmakeady, County Mayo, Ireland. He was an actor, known for Alexander (2004), The Secret of Kells (2009) and Glenroe (1983). He was married to Peige Lally. He died on August 31, 2010 in Dublin, Ireland.
He was an advocate of the Irish language and taught Irish language as well.
He founded the Druid, an Irish repertory theatre company, in 1975 with Garry Hynes and Marie Mullen. He was a member of the Field Day Theater Company, a Northern Irish troupe with Brian Friel and Stephen Rea in 1980.

Speaks fluent Irish and his children attend Irish speaking schools.

He is survived by his wife, Peige; his parents, May Lally and Tom Lally; a brother Tomas Lally; five sisters, Teresa Lally; Marie Lally; Sarah Lally; Nual Lally; and Rita Lally; and his three children, Saileog Lally; Darach Lally, and Mahgnus Lally.
