Nu Image/Millennium Films' Crash Bandits adventure lands Cohen as helmer Rob Cohen will direct as well as rewrite the original Michael Stokes script which tells of the rivalry between two treasure hunters who are specialists in salvaging old plane wrecks. When they learn about the ultimate prize, they end up racing against each other in the Amazon jungle. Crash Bandits is being produces by Kevin King, Johnny Martin, David Raines and Mark Canton while Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Boaz Davidson and John Thompson are serving as executive producers. According to sources, this one almost saw production with Hayden Christensen attached to star and John McTiernan (The 13th Warrior) helming.

Forest Whitaker is in talks to join the cast of "The Expendables." Sylvester Stallone helms and writes the actioner where Whitaker would play the CIA liaison for a group of mercenaries (Stallone, Jet Li, Randy Couture, Jason Statham) who are sent on a mission to overthrow a dictator in South America.Avi Lerner, John Thompson and Kevin King Templeton of Nu Image/Millennium Films will produce the film. Stallone has apparently been scouring locations for a shoot starting in February. This project marks the first in a two-picture deal with Nu Image/Millenium, the first being the latest incarnation of "Rambo" which brought in an impressive $155 million worldwide take at the box office.

Statham and Li have shared the screen before - in 2001 in The One and last year in War. In Expendables, the main characters are sent to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator to liberate the population. Their team is "expendable," hired to do jobs that no one else can or will. The Nu Image/Millennium Films actioner will be directed by Stallone from his original screenplay, the first project in his two-picture deal with the studio. The second is expected to be the next installment of his popular Rambo series. Avi Lerner, John Thompson and Kevin King Templeton, who worked with Stallone on Rambo, are producing the film with executive producers Boaz Davidson, Trevor Short and Danny Dimbort. Principal photography will begin in February in Costa Rica and Louisiana.
