It's official: Robert Pattinson is tired of his "RPattz" nickname.
Here at MTV News, we've been aware of Pattinson's dislike for the moniker since our first interactions with the heartthrob on the set of "Twilight" when he thought up his own nickname, Spunk Ransom. However, according to a recent interview promoting "Bel Ami" and his upcoming "Cosmopolis" with U.K. newspaper The Guardian, Pattinson revealed that he would like nothing more than for everyone to forget all about RPattz.
"When I got this part, every single article that came out was 'RPattz's struggle for credibility!'; I don't understand who invented that thing, 'RPattz,' I want to strangle them," he told the paper. "But once you've made that step, everything afterwards is not like, 'RPattz's continuing struggle for credibility!

Jennifer Aniston wins Best Dirtbag at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards

In the end, Jennifer Aniston wound up being the filthiest of them all.
Aniston took home the very first Best On-Screen Dirtbag prize at the MTV Movie Awards for her role as sex-crazed dentist Julia Harris in "Horrible Bosses." The category was introduced this year to celebrate the most cringe-worthy characters to hit the big screen this year.
But before she took the stage, a real-life cringe-worthy moment took place when some audience member heckled presenters Mila Kunis and Mark Wahlberg when they took the stage. The actress shook off the jab, with "Ted" co-star Wahlberg by her side, and handed the Golden Popcorn to Aniston.

The big "Hunger Games" news this week wasn't how much cash continued to pour in, but the director who was on his way out. Gary Ross released a statement saying he would not be back for the sequel.
"Despite recent speculation in the media, and after difficult but sincere consideration, I have decided not to direct 'Catching Fire,' " Ross said. "As a writer and a director, I simply don't have the time I need to write and prep the movie I would have wanted to make because of the fixed and tight production schedule. It was no surprise that the Oscars wanted to go back to the past in 2012. After all, the show's producers brought Billy Crystal back to host for a ninth time. But it appears that those producers also wanted to travel back to the 1980s for a music flashback, hiring legendary drummer Sheila E. for the Oscars house band.
Yes, the same Sheila E. who rocked the charts in 1984 with her funky single "The Glamorous Life" and taught children of the '80s that the coolest way to play a drum kit was standing up.

It appears that when "American Idol" star Adam Lambert and his boyfriend Sauli Koskinen get into a fight, things get quite heated. How else to explain that Lambert spent several hours locked up in a Finnish jail cell following a clash with Koskinen?
TMZ reports that an argument between the two started inside of a bar in Helsinki and ended up on the street. Lambert allegedly was physical with the locals who tried to separate the two. When police arrived on the scene, both men were taken into custody. Talk about a public display of aggression.
Petri Juvonen, who is heading the investigation, told The Hollywood Reporter that the arrests were made at 4 a.m. Thursday outside of Dtm (Don't Tell Momma), a well-known gay club.

Foster the People's "Pumped Up Kicks," a hazy, fuzzy track with that immediately identifiable creeping bass line, became an unexpected summer smash this year. The groove was infectious and stood out in a season dominated by dance singles. But what was so surprising was the dark message played out in the lyrics.
While early fans of the tune latched on to what sounded like a cheery chorus, it often took a second or third listen for them to consider what the L.A. trio were actually saying: "All the other kids with the pumped up kicks/ You'd better run, better run, outrun my gun," Ftp frontman Mark Foster sings on the hook.

The MTV Newsroom is not traditionally a place for religious fanaticism. But with Harold Camping and his followers making everyone (on the Internets, at least) think the world is ending on Saturday, we thought we'd hedge our bets. Here's how some MTV Newsers are spending their last hours on Earth:
Sabrina Rojas Weiss, editor: "I'm an escapist to the core — true story: I held a dance party at someone's death bed — so I'm not about to change my tune now. I'll actually be on a plane to an undisclosed tropical island on May 21, so if the world comes crumbling down, I will be listening to the new Fleet Foxes album (while picturing myself frolicking through a forest, of course. Oh, forests and old-fashioned harmonizing, I'll miss you), catching up on 'Friday Night Lights,' reading the latest Charlaine Harris novel (crap, will the world end before Sookie and Eric live happily ever after?...

While there is nothing concrete, industry insiders and Deadline are speculating that Steven Spielberg might make Robopocalypse his next directorial feature film. DreamWorks Studios and Doubleday have acquired the property in November in a pre-emptive deal. Daniel H. Wilson's unpublished manuscript (due in 2011), Robopocalypse tells the story of "the fate of the human race following a robot uprising." Cloverfield screenwriter Drew Goddard has been hired to pen the big screen adaptation. Spielberg directing a film about the robot apocalypse written by Goddard? Consider me excited! Robopocalypse won't be a hugely fantastical tale of the robot uprising, but aims to be more realistic. Wilson has a background in robotics and artificial intelligence which Doubleday Executive Editor and Vice President Jason Kaufman claims "grounds his story with a frightening level of realism and he has created an exhilarating story that we think audiences will really respond to."
