Kelly Marie Tran grew up dreaming of Hogwarts, not Dagobah. In fact, when she got the script for Star Wars: The Last Jedi back in 2015, she had never seen a Star Wars movie - not even The Force Awakens, which hadn't yet come out. She still landed the most prominent new role in the latest entry to the galaxy-far-far-away franchise, playing maintenance-worked-turned-Resistance-hero Rose Tico. Along the way, she caught up on the saga. "I like A New Hope the best," she says, referring to the original 1977 movie. A San Diego...

A long time ago, a grade-schooler got his hands on a spaceship. He followed the assembly instructions as best he could, snapping on the cannons, the landing gear, the tiny interstellar-chess table. Soon enough, Rian Johnson was holding his very own Millennium Falcon. "The first thing I did," he recalls, "was throw it across the room, to see how it would look flying." He grins. "And it broke."
Johnson grew up, went to film school, made some good stuff, including the entertainingly twisted 2012 sci-fi drama Looper. He's nearly 44 now, though...

Director Doug Liman’s The Wall is not about Donald Trump’s wall on the Mexican border, the Berlin Wall that symbolized the divide between communist and capitalist countries in the Cold War, or even the Great Wall the Chinese built along their border. No, this wall is the crumbling remains of what was once a building in a contemporary desert war, zone a wall behind which a sniper may be hiding and which later shelters an American serviceman pinned down in that dusty war.
Liman is a skillful film maker but this a decidedly smaller film for the director behind The Bourne Identity and many others. The intimate war drama The Wall starts out in a contemporary desert war zone with a pair of U.S. Army Rangers, Sgt. Allen Isaac (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Staff Sgt.

Amazon Studios & Roadside Attractions have announced a new release date for their upcoming movie The Wall – in theaters May 12, 2017. Catch the new trailer below.
The Wall is a deadly psychological thriller that follows two soldiers pinned down by an Iraqi sniper, with nothing but a crumbling wall between them. Their fight becomes as much a battle of will and wits as it is of lethally accurate marksmanship.
Directed by Doug Liman (“Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” “The Bourne Ultimatum,” “Edge of Tomorrow”), The Wall stars Golden Globe Winner Aaron Taylor Johnson (“Nocturnal Animals,” “Kick-Ass,” “Savages” “Godzilla,” “Avengers: Age of Ultron”) and WWE star John Cena (“Trainwreck,” “Sisters,” “Daddy’s Home”), and is written by first-time screenwriter Dwain Worrell from his Black List script. The Wall is produced by Amazon Studios.

Tom Cruise brings back his military action character Jack Reacher in Jack Reacher: Never Go Back. With Edward Zwick directing, Cruise delivers his signature brand of action with little touches of humor and romance, in this second movie in what appears to be a franchise based on Lee Child’s action thriller books. Cruise’s return as Reacher should please his loyal fans, although other moviegoers will find little that stands out in this standard action film.
One thing that does offer a bit of fun is the movie’s setting, which is in New Orleans during Halloween instead of Mardi Gras and, in earlier scenes, in the little-seen side streets of Washington, D.C. away from the iconic Capitol buildings.

We have seen every type of dating show going, but Young, Free & Single is something else entirely.
The eight-part, Steve Jones-hosted series follows six hopeful singletons - three girls and three boys - as they try to find love under the same roof of an East London flat. Live.
Here's what the best of Twitter had to say...

David James is off running a very, very, very long distance this week, leaving the lazier members of the Filmcast to do the rest of the (metaphorical, definitely not literal) heavy lifting themselves – mainly talking about movies and computer sex.
Dom and Liam are joined by the ever-reliable Dr. Lindsay Hallam (Lecturer in Film at the University of East London) as they continue to sift through the drudge of the March release schedule in the hope of finding something actually decent… with varying degrees of success.
On the chopping block for this episode are the Peter Strickland’s bug-coated Bdsm lesbian fantagasm The Duke of Burgundy, the mind buggering Predestination, Michael Mann’s latest flop Blackhat and the really rather lovely Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter – plus, Dom struggles admirably to get to grips with the iMDB app.

Last year, director Jaume Collet-Serra brought us the high octane guilty pleasure flick, Non-Stop, and while that was set entirely on a plane (for the most part), his latest film, Run All Night, spans across New York City.
Marking his third collaboration with Liam Neeson, the gritty character-driven thriller centers on an estranged father and son (Neeson and Joel Kinnaman) who find themselves going head-to-head with a former mob boss (Ed Harris). Truth be told, it’s a highly enjoyable thriller and easily one of Neeson’s better efforts in recent years, which is a sentiment that our very own David James agreed with in his review:
This is a genre film made by a cast and crew who care enough about their craft to make the best damn genre film they can. It’d have been real easy to phone this project in, and I’m definitely glad that they didn’t.

Having finally clawed his way back from Park City, Utah, Dom joins a semi-depleted gang to run through the major releases hitting Britain for the first half of February. Joined by the apparently omnipresent David James, Dom and Liam discuss biopic exhaustion, why Eddie Redmayne should’ve really won the Oscar for Jupiter Ascending, and whether there was anything on at Sundance this year that was actually worth watching (spoilers: there was).
Kicking off with a review of the Shaun the Sheep Movie (and the shocking revelation that a certain member of the Filmcast doesn’t like Chicken Run), the team then run through the UK Box Office Top Ten (more Birdman love, more Hobbit hate) and on into a gauntlet of movie releases, including Selma, The Interview and the catastrophically batshit Jupiter Ascending.

Another week, another Filmcast. In the T & C’s most action packed episode of the year so far, Liam (Dom’s still on hiatus, but will be back next week – promise) is joined by Dr. Lindsay Hallam (Lecturer in Film at the University of East London), David James (London City Nights) and Matthew Lee (Screen Robot) to discuss an exhaustive and exhausting week at the movies.
Kicking off with a review of Big Hero 6, the gang then segue into a discussion of Julius Avery’s pretty bonkers Son of a Gun – including an exclusive interview with the man himself. Then it’s an all-out run through the rest of the UK’s big releases, with Paul Thomas Anderson’s kind of incomprehensible but kind of great Inherent Vice taking precedent before reviews of Beyond Clueless and a roundtable discussion of the spectacularly silly Kingsman: The Secret Service polish the show off.

The gang’s back for 2015 in epic, sprawling fashion. Dom and Liam take to the latest stew of Oscar-bait (and The Hobbit as well) with all the subtlety and taste of a bulldozer, partnered in crime by Dr. Lindsay Hallam, David James and Matthew Lee.
Over the course of a massive hour and a half of cinematic discussion, the group tells you everything you need to know about what’s on at the movies right now – namely, why Birdman‘s really, really good and how American Sniper‘s kinda, sorta evil.
There’s plenty more catch up too, with enamoured discussion of Foxcatcher – and much less than enamoured reviews of Into the Woods and The Woman in Black 2 – as well as reviews of the UK’s three big releases this week: Whiplash, Wild and Testament of Youth.

This week, your hosts Dominic Mill and Liam Dunn are joined by ever-present regular David James (London City Nights) and Heidi Blackaby. Putting their various, movie-addled minds together, the gang take on another hefty week of film reviews.
Up on the chopping block are Benedict Cumberbatch’s Oscar contender The Imitation Game, The Drop (featuring one last performance from the mighty James Gandolfini), James Brown biopic Get On Up and the emotionally charged Roger Ebert biopic Life Itself (Dom tried really, really hard not to cry whilst talking about it this time).

After a brief and well-deserved hiatus after a hectic month of work at the London Film Festival, the gang at large return to the fold to discuss one hell of a week at the movies. Joining Dom and Liam this week are old hands Dr. Lindsay Hallam and David James, along with plucky newcomer Heidi Blackaby.
Putting their critic-y heads together, the gang take on Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi/romance/space-opera/thing Interstellar (including David James pitching a pretty air-tight theory that it’s all about fucking), as well as Wiig-Hader dramedy The Skeleton Twins, the pitch black comedy of Leviathan and the really quite creepy Laggies.

He might never have pulled up too many trees at Newcastle in his years on Tyneside – and is mostly remembered for scoring after just 15 seconds of coming on against Sunderland, and also for the most horrific (and apparently intentional) miss for Sunderland against the Magpies – but Michael Chopra has his eyes on a big prize in the new Indian Super League.
The former Newcastle striker is currently playing for Kerala Blasters, and believes his experience of working under Roy Keane and Sir Bobby Robson means he would be a perfect candidate to follow in the footsteps of David James and Marco Materazzi, who are both currently player-managing clubs in the competition:
“Look at some of the managers I have worked under – the likes of Sir Bobby Robson and Roy Keane. Sir Bobby was one of the best managers in history. I learnt so much from him.

When the Spice Boys descended upon Anfield, they were either redefining the standard view of modern masculinity, or ruining a long Kop tradition, depending on who you asked. The metrosexual escapades of Jamie Redknapp, David James, Robbie Fowler and co – which saw them spending more time looking stylish, driving expensive cars and going clubbing than focussing on actually playing football, according to tabloids of the time – seemed slightly at odds with the history of footie-obsessed hard men that had played for Liverpool over the years.
It’s one of those often contested truisms that back in the “good old days” football was populated by “proper players”, which usually means they were mildly psychopathic alcoholics. Both of which are traits which, to be honest, does actually go a way to making you a more effective player: or, at least, a more terrifying one. The annals of Anfield...

Chelsea’s Premier League title bid gets underway at Burnley this evening with the Blues having been made favourites by most bookies to lift the trophy next May. With several high profile signings in the bag, including a much-needed new striker in the imposing shape of Diego Costa, the team are certainly looking in good shape to hit the ground running.
While Jose Mourinho has a history of outstanding success at the club and a deep squad at his disposal, there are nevertheless some big questions which need answering before we can properly assess whether his team has what it takes to take the title. Being expected to challenge for every major trophy on the domestic and European stage will certainly take its toll and every weakness in Mourinho’s squad is sure to be tested from the very beginning, especially with so...

Non-bt users can add the channel via Sky for £12-a-month or £15 for HD. The channels will also have a dedicated app online.
BT's sports coverage includes 38 exclusive Premier League games, 69 Aviva Premiership rugby games, and various Fa Cup, Europa League, Bundesliga and Scottish football fixtures. MotoGP, Wta women's tennis and Ufc fights will also be shown.
The 38 Premier League games include 18 of the best quality 'top pick' matches, which for the first time ever are not all with Sky Sports.

Chicago – “Oblivion” is a Pyrrhic victory that wins its battle, but loses the overall war. While this is the kind of visual production value you’d expect on a $120 million budget, an ostentatious steak dinner in the special effects department never makes up for a story that tastes more like cheap ramen noodles.
Rating: 3.0/5.0
In an expensive film of this grandiose scale, neither can it afford to insult you with oversimplification nor overly complicate itself beyond your ability to reasonably comprehend it. While “Oblivion” from “Tron: Legacy” director Joseph Kosinski definitely doesn’t pander to the simple minded, its slipshod story devolves into a sci-fi discombobulation that gets lost in its own twists and turns.
“Oblivion” draws inspiration from more than two handfuls of other major films. For starters, “Prometheus” – though its story line is literally in another world – feels similar to “Oblivion” in terms of its majestic environments and its overall loneliness.

So, here’s a novel idea…
Imagine, if you will, that we could pluck ten players from the entirety of the English Premier League’s history – 5 English, 5 not English – and put them up against each other in the ultimate Premier League 5-a-Side match, all in their prime:
The Best Ever English Premier League 5-a-Side Team
Vs
The Best Ever Rest of the World Premier League 5-a-Side Team
Please note, this involves picking such a small number of players from such a large selection that the idea is to create discussion. I in no way expect people to 100% agree with my selections, because choosing a ‘correct’ selection of players for this topic is nigh on impossible and merely a matter of opinion.
Let’s first take a look at England’s team…
Goalkeeper: David Seaman
No English goalkeeper has performed as well for club and country in the Premiership years as David Seaman.
