Hidetaka Miyazaki gave the players Elden Ring in 2022 with the help of George R. R. Martin, who contributed to worldbuilding. Millions of players have delved deeper into the Lands Between and are waiting to enter the Land of Shadow, as was seen in the Shadow of the Erdtree trailer. The world that fans see isn’t simply a result of imagination but also of a fascination with fantasy.
A video game auteur, Miyazaki is known for the difficulty he incorporates in his games alongside the narratives that are largely presented via environmental cues and flavor texts. He wants the players to unfold the story as it suits them rather than following a pre-planned path every time, they begin the game after finishing up.

Hidetaka Miyazaki collaborated with fantasy writer George R R Martin for his latest hit, Elden Ring, who provided the worldbuilding for the game. Still, R R Martin isn’t the one behind Miyazaki’s ideas that appeal to the masses. Miyazaki has said that fantasy writer Steve Jackson is his inspiration.

When I was a kid in the late 1980s, the world was very different. We didn’t have the internet, we didn’t have mobile phones, we didn’t have thousands of channels to surf and our computer game choices were limited, even more so given their expense. However, there was one option that many kids of that age in the UK had in common: the fantastic, immersive books Fighting Fantasy by Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson that allowed you to make decisions and choose your adventure. They were the best thing since sliced bread, frankly, but we mention their existence here as Livingstone and Jackson were also central in bringing Dungeons and Dragons to the UK in the late 1970s which, in turn, has led us to 2023 and the latest attempt to get the famed game to the big screen.
Of course, in recent times, many will know of...

Writer Rhianna Pratchett, known for video games including the Tomb Raider reboot and the Overlord series, returns to an early staple of role-playing gaming with Fighting Fantasy. Pratchett’s book, Crystal of Storms, takes players into a fantasy police procedural on a floating island.
She’s one of only two guest writers for the franchise, and the first woman to put her stamp on it. With a strong career of her own and the legacy of her father Terry’s Discworld series, her quirky take on the fantasy procedural is part of Scholastic’s revitalization of Fighting Fantasy.
Developed in the 80s, Fighting Fantasy works as an introduction for kids to fantasy roleplaying. Players can use dice or flip the pages to roll different outcomes for their characters. Items, stat trackers, and alternate origin stories make Fighting Fantasy more complicated than a choose-your-own-adventure book but still easy to play solo.

The characters—both the good and the evil ones—that lurk within the "Mignolaverse" are an eclectic and restless bunch, and sometimes their personalties and persistence require more stories to be told. Such is the case with Tom Ferrell and Effie Kolb, who, after appearing in 2008's The Crooked Man, will make a comeback in Hellboy and The B.P.R.D.: The Return of Effie Kolb.

Flying Tiger is a joint venture among veteran U.K. film financier Paul Brett (“The King’s Speech”), Meredith Brett, Jonny Boston and Al Man, a leading Chinese entertainment data company that counts e-commerce giant Alibaba among its backers.
