Hotly anticipated after the juggernaut success of Final Fantasy VII in 1997, Final Fantasy VIII, the eighth iteration of the beloved franchise about crystals and cool summons fell into our eager hands only two years later. It was all here, epic Fmv sequences set to Nobuo Uematsu’s rousing score. A story about a school of young mercenaries, tied together by fading memories and the need for heroes against an evil sorceress. An enhanced but familiar battle system, adding in the wrinkle of resource management (drawing power from others to fill your reserves) to help keep the system fresh.
It even featured dual protagonists, for a while dividing our time between the loner mercenary trainee Squall Leonheart and the eager soldier Laguna Loire in a series of background-setting flashbacks. And yet, years later when the scores are tallied and our favorites lined up, Final Fantasy VIII is almost always an unruly stepchild.

Whether you’re a fan or not, The Office was and has remained one of the most popular sitcoms in TV history. The mockumentary followed the day-to-day events and misadventures of the daily lives of employees at Dunder Mifflin Paper Company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. It introduced audiences to characters many know and love still today, like Michael Scott (Steve Carell), Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer), as well as some that were more polarizing, like Jan Levinson (Melora Hardin).
Introduced in the series’ pilot episode as Jan Levinson-Gould, she is Vice President of Sales at Dunder Mifflin and Michael’s superior. Because the two have closely-related jobs, after she gets divorced, they eventually start a relationship, which becomes a source of much comedy throughout the series, largely because of their contrasting personalities. But there’s more to Jan than the surface-based funny bits she contributes.

It was the episode of the season and one of the most shocking moments in Real Housewives of Beverly Hills history.
During a trip to Hong Kong, “Ice Queen” Erika Girardi snapped — breaking down in tears and lashing out at Eileen Davidson over an unfortunately ill-worded analogy during an already-tense dinner.
The scene gripped Rhobh fans and instantly became iconic Housewives viewing. But as Girardi revealed during part one of the three-part reunion on Tuesday, there was a lot more to the story than what the cameras captured.
To understand what fans didn’t see, one must first recap what was shown.

Will Annalise ever stop scheming?
On How to Get Away with Murder Season 3 Episode 2, she went to extremes to make sure that the Keating 5 remained on the straight and narrow to avoid them failing out of her class.
This paved away for one of the most compelling cases of the week yet. Irene's story really tugged at the heart. It was refreshing that she was not remorseful about murdering her husband.
She knew it was the only way out of her horrible life with him and is not apologetic for that. In her eyes, she did the only thing she could to make sure she was free from him.
Murder is murder. What Irene did was completely wrong, but she served over 30 years for the crime. Getting parole was the next logical step. She should be respected for sticking to her guns throughout the whole process.

Looking back at Snow White and the Huntsman, I remember liking it but the movie itself was overshadowed by the drama behind the scenes. This may be one reason I was surprised with the announcement of The Huntsman: Winter’s War. Unsurprisingly though, Kristen Stewart is not part of this one… but does it manage to deliver without Snow White’s presence?
This time, The Huntsman is somewhat of a prequel as well as a sequel to the first film. We see Ravenna (Charlize Theron) up to no good, but also the introduction of Freya (Emily Brunt) her sister. When Freya’s heart is broken her resultant transformation to the Ice Queen brings about the introduction of...

This summer is going to be deadly, y'all.
Dead of Summer Season 1 Episode 1 kicks off with former Camp Stillwater residents, accompanied by newcomers Amy and Drew, heading to camp to be counselors for the summer. Little did they know what they're getting into.
The creepy flashback at the beginning of the episode was very thrilling for the potential of the show. There's a lot to be built upon, including whatever horror event happened on the camp's grounds long before the camp was founded.
The group of men dragging out a man, accused of kidnapping and/or murdered those in the lake, brought a lot of questions as to what exactly happened, and what caused that event.
I want to make Stillwater as special for everyone else as it was for me. You can find out who you are here, you can be who you wanna be here. This will be the best summer,...

The story of The Huntsman: Winter’s War is an interesting one, but it never quite comes together. That’s true whether you’re talking about the non-existent fairy tale behind the film’s plot, or the Hollywood shuffling behind the film’s creation (which I won’t go into).
The film covers a span of time that surrounds the first film, but doesn’t seem to quite account for it sensibly, and follows the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) from early childhood, and Ravenna’s sister, Freya (Emily Blunt), before even that.
We enter the film as Freya, living in the shadow of her powerful sister, is betrayed by her lover, which sparks her own magical power. She heads north to conquer her own lands as the Ice Queen. With her own spin on “raising” an army, she kidnaps children to train to become her elite forces. Enter Eric, the Huntsman,...

Full disclosure: I have not seen Snow White and the Huntsman. I don't think it would have helped. In fact, I think this movie would have benefited from being a stand alone film because it would have been its own mythology and not have the anchor around its neck that I could feel in this movie.
The Huntsman: Winter's War is a unique sequel in that it is a prequel sequel. A presqueal, if you will. We also meet Eric's true love, Sara (Jessica Chastain). The two best warriors in her majesty's service. Until they commit the greatest sin, love!

A trio of A-list actresses – Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt, and Jessica Chastain – look great in Colleen Atwood’s costumes but are otherwise wasted in the joyless and bland The Huntsman: Winter’S War. And while the trailer makes it look like a battle of badass beauties, two of these actresses (the ones who play the most interesting characters) are off-screen for most of the film’s running time. I did not see Snow White And The Huntsman but I hope it was better than this lame sequel/prequel.

Saturday Am Update: The Jungle Book topped Friday with an estimated $16.38 million on its way to what looks like a $60-62 million second weekend. Universal's The Huntsman: Winter's War took second with an estimated $7.27 million as its three-day opening is now looking to be around $19-20 million. For a full look at Friday's estimates click here and we'll be back tomorrow morning with a complete look at the weekend. Friday Am Update: The Huntsman: Winter's War brought in $1 million from Thursday evening previews which began at 7 Pm and played in 2,645 theaters. As a basis for comparison, Jupiter Ascending also brought in $1 million on Thursday night before bringing in $6.3 million on Friday and opening with $18.3 million. The level of complication related to relaying the basic facts of The Huntsman: Winter’s War could be seen as the greatest strike against the film. When one has trouble describing the “what” and the “why” of a thing, it can be nearly impossible to move beyond those questions in order to assign any sort of subjective value to the experience of the thing. Existing as it does in a liminal space between sequel and prequel, spin-off and continuation, The Huntsman: Winter’s War is a film that is ungainly in ways both narrative and aesthetic.
It is all the more shocking, then, that in spite of some egregious filmmaking and storytelling missteps, on top of its status as a symbol of everything wrong with our modern filmic obsession with origins and franchises and branded properties, the film still works as both a charming romance and a rollicking adventure tale.

Emily Blunt is on thin ice with Charlize Theron's son Jackson. The actress plays Freya, the Ice Queen, in Universal Pictures' The Huntsman: Winter's War. Ahead of the film's Friday release, Emily appeared on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live! Monday and acknowledged that her character looks like Elsa, the animated queen from Disney's Frozen. "I knew the moment I decided to have white hair that that would be the comparison," the 33-year-old actress said. "Charlize's son was on set a lot and he was obsessed with Frozen. He really thought I was Elsa." Emily didn't have the heart to tell Charlize's 4-year-old son the truth. After he accidentally caught her out of costume, he...

It’s a prequel and a sequel! It’s got girl powerrr and lady-hating! It’s a mashup of Lord of the Rings and Frozen! It’s all these things, and less. I’m “biast” (pro): love the cast

Though reception was mixed on Snow White and the Huntsman, Universal Pictures decided to move ahead with a prequel/sequel. However, Kristen Stewart is not returning as Snow White and the film will focus more heavily on Chris Hemsworth's Huntsman and Charlize Theron's Evil Queen. Joining them are Emily Blunt, who plays the Ice Queen, the Evil Queen's sister and Jessica Chastain, who plays Sara, the Huntsman's warrior lover. So does no Kristen Stewart and a new creative team equal a better film? Universal is certainly hoping that's the case, they've certainly upped the star-power for the prequel/sequel. Cedric Nicolas-Troyan replace Rupert Sanders as director. Writing credits go to Craig Mazin, Frank Darabont and Evan Spiliotopoulos who replace Evan Daugherty, John Lee Hancock and Hossein Amini. The film will arrive in Us theaters on April 22, 2016. The film will most likely face the most competition at the box...

Arguably one of the more surprising prequels to see the light of day, Universal has today peeled back the curtain on a new trailer for The Huntsman Winter’s War.
Whisking moviegoers back to the Kingdom of Tabor, Cedric Nicolas-Troyan’s fantastical offshoot takes place long before the events of Rupert Sanders’ Snow White, largely revolving around the testing relationship between Emily Blunt’s conflicted Ice Queen Freya and Queen Ravenna, played with maleficent glee once again by Charlize Theron.
Betrayed by her sibling, today’s CG-laden sizzle reel introduces Blunt’s character as a powerful and mercurial ruler with ice powers. Fleeing to a kingdom of isolation – stop us if you’ve heard this before – Winter’s War heralds a sisterly squabble of epic proportions, with Eric (Chris Hemsworth) and Sara (Jessica Chastain) caught up somewhere in between.

Emily Blunt gives Frozen's Elsa a run for her money as the Ice Queen in The Huntsman: Winter's War.
She faces off with her sister Ravenna, the Evil Queen played by Charlize Theron in the new film. Reprising her role from Snow White and the Huntsman, she has even tougher competition not just to be the fairest of them all, but the fiercest queen of them all.
The film stars Chris Hemsworth, who gets to tell his back story as the Huntsman. This prequel is staying far away from Snow White, as the trailer reminds us that all of this happened before she came into the picture. The competition between Blunt and Theron promises an exciting time at the movies.
Jessica Chastain also stars in the film, and she looks to be the only woman who isn't evil in the film. We're excited to see who will win this battle.

Emily Blunt is the Ice Queen, and she shows off her dangerous powers in the new trailer for “The Huntsman: Winter’s War.” “If it’s the Snow White tale you are looking for, discover the story that came before,” says the voiceover at the beginning of the trailer. The film follows the war between Evil Queen Ravenna, played by Charlize Theron, and her little sister, the Ice Queen (Blunt). In the trailer, we see her raising an army of child soldiers to fight for her after it becomes clear that she can’t have children of her own. Also Read: Sam Claflin Returns for.

My head admittedly was swimming early on during this week’s Arrow, as Oliver and Nyssa (…and then Nyssa and Laurel) repeatedly made their cases for killing Malcolm — or not. As a kid, I was a huge figure skating nerd (stay with me). I remember watching breathlessly when Nancy Kerrigan was set to host SNL. I was a fan of hers, but more so there was the anticipated delight of seeing her be funny, and act. Of course, if you’ve seen that episode, or any other of the countless episodes where sports stars host, you’ll know that it’s a big, awkward leap from the field/ice/pool/octagon to Studio 8H. By those standards, Ronda Rousey’s turn as host of SNL last night was actually a notch above many (and about twelve notches above Nancy “Ice Queen” Kerrigan). She flubbed a few times, and live TV that doesn’t involve taking down (or being taken down by) an opponent does not come super naturally to her, but her charm and that big ol’ smile carried her through,...

List in your head the amount of morally ambiguous, thematically murky, genre-bent television shows that are on the air right now. Add on top a dollop of teen angst and you’ll come to realize it’s a crowded field, one that’s only grown thanks to the attraction viewers have with every anti-hero at the center of each show. For such reasons, it’s easy to pass by something that’s worth your time given its vast similarities to everything that’s come before. The 100 could be boiled down to the story of a group of teens who run amok on a post-apocalyptic Earth and eventually must learn how to survive years before adulthood, but that would be a hilarious injustice.

You’ve probably noticed the influx of live action fairytales gracing cinemas in recent years. This isn’t about to stop any time soon, since re-spinning a recognisable fantastical yarn with real people instead of animated ones always makes big money for the studio behind it.
This process has become so popular that there are currently more of these live action fairytales in production than Marvel Studios, DC Entertainment or Star Wars movies. That’s a lot of films. (A whopping 21 by our count.)
Although it wadsn’t the first movie of this kind, Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland – and its worldwide gross of over a billion dollars – can surely take the credit for kick-starting this trend. Here are all the in-development movies trying to repeat its success,...

Chris Hemsworth returns to the Snow White-less “Snow White and the Huntsman” sequel, “The Huntsman: Winter’s War” in the first trailer. This time around, he’s fighting not only the Evil Queen (Charlize Theron), he’ll also be fighting the Evil Queen’s just as evil little sister, the Ice Queen (Emily Blunt). But luckily, he’ll have new help, in the form of Jessica Chastain, who plays a warrior and childhood love of the Huntsman’s. “The Huntsman: Winter’s War” was directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan and will be released on April 22, 2016.

A few days ago we shared some great looking character posters for the upcoming Snow White and the Huntsman sequel The Huntsman Winter’s War. Today we have a trailer for the movie that looks to take share a lot more about the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) than we knew previously.
Also introduced is Sara the warrior, played by Jessica Chastain and Emily Blunt’s Freya the Ice Queen, the younger sister of the departed Queen Ravenna. The trailer shows off a lot of story and characters, probably trying to make up for the first film which lacked a lot of that. This sequel/prequel does have plenty of CG though, so fear not cartoon lovers.

The world of "Snow White and the Huntsman" is back -- minus Kristen Stewart, but plus Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain. (Upgrade?)
A title like "The Huntsman: Winter's War" sounds so manly even Ron Swanson might approve, but the first trailer shows this is a movie all about girl power. Literally. Emily Blunt and Charlize Theron play sisters -- sexy wicked sisters -- and they are here to drop a magic mic on the kingdom.
Universal's trailer starts with the question, "Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the most powerful of them all?" and shows us Emily Blunt's Ice Queen Freya. (Might as well just call her Elsa.) She's a newbie to the "Huntsman" world, along with Jessica Chastain as a warrior named Sara, and they join returnees Charlize Theron as Evil Queen Ravenna, and -- almost an afterthought -- Chris Hemsworth as The Huntsman Eric.
