- Linda Hopkins was born on December 14, 1924 in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. She was an actress, known for Leprechaun 2 (1994), Great Performances (1971) and The Kitchen (2019). She died on April 10, 2017 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA.
- Brash, sassy, chunky-framed gospel, jazz and blues singer best known, besides her recordings, for her Broadway performances in "Purlie", "Me and Bessie" as Bessie Smith, "Black and Blue" and "Inner City" for which she won a Tony Award for Best Supporting Actress.
- Awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Live Theatre at 6233 Hollywood Blvd. on October 6, 2005.
- Starting in 1997, she along with jazz/blues vocalists Maxine Weldon and Mortonette Jenkins had been touring with a revue called "Wild Women Blues" through Europe. Performing at Summer Night at the Moca on June 20, 2002 in Los Angeles, CA, she announced the revue was booked for appearances in the United States.
