A three hour documentary about iconic comedian Ken Dodd will premiere in June, and here are the details.
There are few comics, before him or since, who were as hardworking as Ken Dodd. Known for the epic length of his performances, he performed shows that began at 7.30, wouldn’t have an interval until 10.30, with gigs regularly finishing in the small hours.
Dodd passed away in 2018 at the age of 90, and left a legacy of laughter in a career that began in the 1940s.
Ken Dodd is now set to be the subject of new documentary The Real Ken Dodd: The Man I Loved. As a tribute to Dodd’s shows, the film is a whopping three hours long.
The film, narrated by the irrepressible Miriam Margoyles, also features tributes from the comedy community, including Lee Mack, Harry Hill, Johnny Vegas, Tim Vine, Les Dennis, Ricky Tomlinson, Stephen K Amos, Shaparak Khorsandi and the late,...

It was the big question. When the Junior Taskmaster spin-off was announced back in March with new hosts welcoming the nation’s children to complete a series of absurd and pointless challenges, who would be sitting in the golden thrones? A new Taskmaster was required, along with a new Taskmaster’s assistant. One had to be masterful and imperious, the other detail-oriented and servile, and crucially, they both had to be good with kids.
The answer: series nine and 11 contestants Rose Matafeo and Mike Wozniak! Matafeo will be taking the Junior Taskmaster role scoring the young contestants’ efforts, with Wozniak providing admin-based support in the studio and on-site child wrangling during tasks as the Junior Taskmaster’s Assistant.
Matafeo came second in her series of Taskmaster, in which she competed against winner Ed Gamble (now the host of the show’s official podcast), and fellow not-winners David Baddiel, Katy Wix and Jo Brand.

You’ve Been Framed has reportedly been axed after 33 years on air.
The long-running ITV show, which compiled home videos of accidents and funny moments, was launched in 1990. Jeremy Beadle was the original narrator.
Most recently, comedian Harry Hill was serving as presenter, fronting 341 of 701 episodes.
As reported by The Sun, the series – which once attracted 15 million people in its prime – is coming to an end.
An insider told the publication: “The fact that You’ve Been Framed has been shelved is a sad sign of the times.”
They continued: “It’s a different world to Jeremy Beadle’s heyday. Why would viewers tune in to a show featuring funny videos when they could see the same sort of thing on the internet?
“Silly clips are hugely popular on social media and the right video can go viral. There’s a thrill in achieving that – even though you don’t...

Ding ding, everybody off the Taskmaster bus! New passengers incoming! Series 12 – which taught us that Victoria Coren-Mitchell never learned how to ride a bike, Guz Khan owns more framed portraits of himself than is sensible, Desiree Burch can’t burst a balloon with a fork to save her life, Morgana Robinson is able to get goose bumps at will and Alan Davies still has a Jonathan Creek wig in his loft – has reached its climax. One lucky winner has skipped away merrily with the Taskmaster’s gleaming head as a prize and plenty of time to prepare for the inevitable Series 11-15 Champion of Champions special. Meanwhile the other four have skipped away safe in the knowledge that nobody is ever again likely to ask them to sit on a cake.

Contains spoilers for the Taskmaster series 11 finale
The suit. The ‘tache. The smile. The preternatural speed with which he’s able to snatch a marshmallow from an opponent using a pair of kitchen tongs. There’s a great deal to admire about Taskmaster series 11 contestant Mike Wozniak, so admire him we will. Right here. Starting now. Tick tock: it’s Wozniak o’clock.
Who is Mike Wozniak?
He’s an absolute bloody milk guzzler, that’s who.
Like Harry Hill, Graham Chapman, Graeme Garden and Paul Sinha before him, Mike Wozniak trained and worked as a doctor before becoming a stand-up. Healthcare’s loss was comedy’s gain. His 2013 Edinburgh Fringe show, in which Wozniak played an outmoded light entertainer, received a Best Comedy Show nomination.

A David Tennant-fronted comedy drama, a multi-character sitcom from the writer of Paddington 2, a comedy crime thriller featuring Episodes’ Daisy Haggard and a raft of new talent form part of the BBC’s latest comedy drive.
The British public broadcaster has unveiled its new slate of comedies across its channels BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Three and BBC Four. This comes as BBC comedy chief Shane Allen tells Deadline that by making shows that are quintessentially British, they are increasingly traveling to the U.S. and internationally without the need to be remade.
On BBC One, Paddington 2’s Simon Farnaby and his colleagues behind Horrible Histories and Yonderland are producing Ghosts, a multi-character sitcom. Farnaby, Mathew Baynton, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond are working with Monumental Television on the six-part horror comedy, which follows a group of restless spirits squabbling in a crumbling country house.

Despite the fact that his first musical, a parody of The X Factor called I Can't Sing, closed within six weeks of opening at the Palladium, Harry Hill has decided to keep writing. According to Digital Spy, Hill is hard at work on a new project with Steve Brown, although he won't reveal the subject matter or the title. Hill maintains that even though the relative failure of I Can't Sing was a blow, he was buoyed by the joy of working at the Palladium each day, which has helped spur him on toward working on his new projects.

This tired chiller bases its scares around a child-like doll but its mundane surroundings more recall Harry Hill than Chucky
With the The Witch and 10 Cloverfield Lane currently marking the ascent of measured suspense within genre cinema, the crash-bang-wallop merchants have launched a counteroffensive. This intrinsically mediocre non-chiller transplants the hackneyed methods of 2014’s Annabelle to the English countryside, dispatching an uptight Lauren Cohan to the residence of the haughtily eccentric Heelshires to nanny their “son” Brahms – a child-sized porcelain doll. A vessel for everyone’s grief, Brahms is intended as creepy, yet in these cheap-looking surrounds he rather resembles a stray Harry Hill prop; an endless string of restless Pov shots can’t transform a tchotchke into a credible threat. Elsewhere, gimmickmonger William Brent Bell (The Devil Inside) has only careworn gotchas to offer, and he exhausts those long before the indifferently staged stalk-and-slash finale. These movies need new toys to play with.

Home video clip show You've Been Framed! is an ITV Saturday teatime stalwart. It first arrived in 1990 and is now in the enviable position of airing its 29th series. Its current incarnation, presented by Harry Hill since 2004, hit preciselythe sweet spot between comic absurdity and human suffering.
It's the show, as producer Chris Thornton says, "everybody watches but nobody admits to watching. We've gone into more detail on the joys it provides, here.
Over email, we caught up with Thornton to find out the secret to the show's longevity, how the advent of smartphones has affected submissions, and why that £250 fee hasn't changed since day one...
The £250 fee has remained the same since You’ve Been Framed! began in 1990. Have there been discussions...

Scott Mills got more than he bargained for on his Radio 1 show today (October 26).
None other than Sir Terry Wogan phoned in to challenge the DJ to abseil down Blackpool Tower for BBC Children in Need.
Mills will be joined by Royal Marines for the 400ft abseil.
"I would say I'm really excited to be part of Children in Need this year, but to be honest, I am ridiculously nervous about what I am taking on," Mills noted.
"If facing my fear and abseiling the Blackpool Tower inspires even just one person to donate then it will be absolutely worth it... especially when I get to the ground!"
Viewers will see if Mills can conquer his fear of heights during the Children in Need show on November 13.
Wogan will be hosting this year's broadcast alongside Fearne Cotton, Tess Daly, Rochelle Humes and Nick Grimshaw.

You've Been Framed viewers have criticised the programme after a repeat failed to remove an insensitive Cilla Black joke.
A rerun shown over the weekend included a joke about the presenter banging her head in a swimming pool.
Black passed away at the age of 72 earlier this year, after suffering a traumatic head injury while in Spain.
The episode of You've Been Framed saw presenter Harry Hill narrate a scene featuring a red-haired woman falling and hitting her head, saying: "And here's Cilla Black's last show for ITV. Cilla's super splash down."
While the show originally aired months before Black's death, fans took to Twitter to voice their criticism:
The you've been framed cilla joke was just sick @itv

The new instalment of The Incredible Adventures of Professor Branestawm has added Diana Rigg, Steve Pemberton and Bob Mortimer to the cast.
Harry Hill has already been confirmed to reprise his role as the batty inventor for the children's drama, set to air at Christmas.
Rigg will be playing Lady Pagwell, Pemberton will be Professor Algebrain and Mortimer will take on the role of Professor Awfulshirt.
Reprising their roles from last year are Vicki Pepperdine as Mrs Flittersnoop, Madeline Holliday as Connie, Simon Day as Colonel Dedshott, Charlie Higson as the Mayor, David Mitchell as councillor Harold Haggerstone and Sophie Thompson as Connie's mum Aggie.
Last year's Christmas special from Charlie Higson saw Norman Hunter's classic children's books adapted into a one-off 60-minute drama.
The story revolved around Mrs Flittersnoop's young science-obsessed niece Connie, who helped Hill's Professor Branestawn when a local councillor and a businessman planned to wreck the Professor's village.

Harry Hill's revamp of Stars in Their Eyes has reportedly been dropped by ITV after one series.
The show relaunched in January after being off air for nine years but struggled in the ratings and received some poor reviews from critics - although some praised its tongue-in-cheek style.
The Sun has now claimed that the show will not be returning for a second series.
The report claims that while ITV executives were happy with the show, the low ratings and struggle to capture viewers mean that it will not be getting any more episodes.
However, Hill is expected to maintain a relationship with ITV, with the report claiming that he recently filmed a pilot called Harry Hill's Tea Time.
The show - apparently described as "TV Burp meets cookery" - would see Hill preparing a three-course meal with a celebrity guest.

The rule of thumb in screenwriting is never to directly reference, even whimsically, a film which you are attempting to tribute or homage, for fear the comparison will leave your film lacking. Kingsman: the Secret Service makes numerous references to Bond and classic-era spy films, and not only holds its own against them, but could inspire a resurgence of the bigger than life style of espionage films
Kingsman: The Secret Service
Directed by Matthew Vaughan
Script by Jane Goldman and Matthew Vaughan, from the comic by Mark Millar, Matthew Vaughan and Dave Gibbons
Starring Colin Firth, Taron Egerton, Samuel L. Jackson
Mark Millar is doing a damn fine job of creating brilliant little stand-alone comic mini-series that tell a coherent story, and are at the same time far from the standard fare of superhero titles. They are also almost tailor-made for adaptation into films for those very reasons. His high-action...

There's clearly something in the water at ITV.
The past couple of weekends have seen the launch of two brand new programmes on the channel - circus skill, er, thing Get Your Act Together and an almost unrecognisable revamp of Stars in Their Eyes.
To put it very politely, neither have been received favourably by the public.
Get Your Act Together, presented by Stephen Mulhern, largely featured ex-Dancing on Ice contestants performing sub-par talents, while Stars in Their Eyes presenter Harry Hill has been criticised for ruining the original programme and tainting our '90s nostalgia by throwing baked goods around and doing silly skits.
So, to paraphrase Harry himself: Get Your Act Together vs Stars in Their Eyes - which is better?
There's only one way to find out! Vote in our poll below:...

We might not have Dancing on Ice anymore, but ITV's hoping to keep us entertained during the winter months with a brand new show! Get Your Act Together sees a whole host of celebrities teaming up with famous variety acts to learn their skills - and then trying to perform them to a live studio audience (who decide whether or not they get through).
The whole extravaganza is being hosted by Stephen Mulhern, so we got him on the phone to chat about acts that struggled, why he's always worried about shows going out, and how the studio audience surprised him...
"If you like Britain's Got Talent then you'll love Get Your Act Together. It's a combination of two things – the basic idea is that it's a speciality act from around the world who will then teach a celebrity what they do. Obviously the pressure is on the celebrity learning it,...

A lot of people were pretty annoyed with Stars in Their Eyes when it returned this weekend.
On Saturday, the internet was up in arms claiming Harry Hill 'wasn't funny', ITV have 'ruined a classic' and – seriously –'bring back Matthew Kelly'.
Many had no doubt tuned in expecting Hill to emerge from the dry ice and sliding doors with a carbon copy of Kelly's (and Cat and Leslie's) version of the show, and so were left bitterly disappointed. We, meanwhile, were over the moon.
Harry Hill's Stars in Their Eyes was, shock horror, actually something different. The show was still about plucky members of the public wanting to emulate their musical heroes, but that's where the similarities ended.
Viewers who have never 'got' Harry Hill had tuned in lured by the promise of an ITV classic, and yet were smacked in the face with Hill's surreal mockery of what a singing competition is.

Stars In Their Eyes returned to ITV tonight (Saturday January 10) after a nine-year absence from our screens - but was it any good?
The format has remained largely the same, with members of the public announcing which singer they will be impersonating before disappearing into a cloud of smoke and emerging transformed into that singer.
However, the revamped Stars In Their Eyes saw a more comedic tone employed by new host Harry Hill, who follows in the footsteps of previous hosts Leslie Crowther, Matthew Kelly and Cat Deeley.
The new version of the show sparked a great deal of discussion on Twitter, with the majority of commenters expressing their disappointment:
Has a tv show ever been cancelled half way through its first episode before? just wondering..... #starsintheireyes

Matthew Kelly will make a cameo appearance in tonight's (January 10) series opener of Harry Hill's Stars in Their Eyes.
Kelly, who fronted the singing show from 1993 to 2002, will be replaced by Harry Hill as presenter.
The opening sketch will pay homage to the veteran TV host and introduce Hill in his new role.
Kelly will be seen arriving at the studio wearing a brightly coloured suit, before heading into the dressing room marked 'Host: Stars In Their Eyes'.
Hill then exits the dressing room wearing the same oversized suit.

One of my happiest memories of TV as a child was the Stars In Their Eyes grand final night. The Matthew Kelly years of the show may look rather quaint in an era of spinning chairs, dancing celebrities and X Factor shoutiness, but it was actually ahead of its time as an entertainment format.
From turning Reg the butcher and Barbara from accounts into stars for five minutes, to public phone votes for the winner, it was in many ways a proto-Pop Idol and X Factor.
The key difference between Stars In Their Eyes and what followed was the complete absence of cynicism or profiteering. It probably helped Basil from Basingstoke raise a few more quid with his George Formby covers act, but there was never any pretense that the show would be life-changing.
Like most Saturday night shows in the pre-Popstars/Simon Cowell/Big Brother era, the heart...

Harry Hill would feel ''creepy'' if he dressed up in drag. The 50-year-old TV personality - who is hosting the new series of 'Stars In Their Eyes' - will be impersonating different celebrities on the show when it returns this weekend but fears he is too old to dress as female stars. He told The Sun newspaper: ''I'm not going to be any female singers. I'm too old for drag now. I look a bit creepy.'' Speaking about how closely the remake will follow the format of the original show, he added: ''It's a mix between celebrating 'Stars In Their Eyes'...
