This article contains spoilers for Psych.
It’s easy to forget sometimes that Psych is a show that often involves murder. The procedural comedy-drama is well known for its running gags, irreverent humor, and the absurd scenarios that faux psychic Shawn Spencer (James Roday Rodriguez) and his best friend/crime-solving partner Gus (Dulé Hill) often found themselves in, all of which can overshadow the seriousness of the crimes they’re trying to solve. However, the series proves it’s worthy of the drama genre descriptor more often than we realize when it allows itself to go to darker places than we expect.
The most obvious example of this in the series is the Yin/Yang arc. Shawn and Gus go up against these serial killers several times throughout the series, and often find themselves and those they care about directly in harms’ way. Like many serial killers, Yin (Peter Weller...

Back in 2009, a horror film called Orphan told us the story of a married couple who adopts a 9-year-old Russian girl only to discover that she’s actually a criminal adult passing herself off as a child. The film was loosely based on the true story of Barbora Skrlova, a 30-something woman who pretended to be a 13-year-old and did some very twisted things that were very different than what we saw in Orphan. In 2012, a sad case that made it into news reports reminded people of Orphan. It was the story of Natalia Grace, a Ukrainian-born girl with dwarfism who was adopted by American parents who began to suspect she was much older than records said she was. The Grace case has been covered on Dr. Phil and the docu-series The Curious Case of Natalia Grace, and now the Hulu streaming service is moving forward with a Natalia Grace-inspired...

Center Theatre Group presented the North American premiere of Matthew Bourne’s Romeo + Juliet on Wednesday evening, and when it ended, the entire Ahmanson Theatre audience was on its feet offering a standing ovation. After the dance company had taken final bows — with Paris Fitzpatrick’s Romeo and Monique Jonas’ Juliet receiving the love while covered in (spoiler alert!) blood-drenched white ensembles — Melissa McCarthy and Adam Shankman sat back down in their orchestra seats in row F.
The good friends, who arrived together, proceeded to stay seated for another 10 minutes or so to process what they’d seen through tear-filled eyes. “I just love a comedy,” Shankman said to The Hollywood Reporter in the lobby moments later. Straighten your tie, a “Suits” reunion is underway.
The 2024 Atx Festival will mark the five-year anniversary of the “Suits” series finale with a panel featuring the cast and showrunner of “Suits,” which has recently found a streaming resurgence on Netflix. Creator Aaron Korsh, along with actors Sarah Rafferty, Patrick J Adams, and Dulé Hill, will be in conversation during Season 13 of the Austin-based festival. More cast members will be announced.
“Suits” spent 12 consecutive weeks this year as the number one show on Nielsen’s overall streaming chart. A new “Suits” series that is set in the same universe is currently in development at UCP. Original series star Meghan Markle said during Variety’s Power of Women event (via Rolling Stone) that “Suits” was an “everlasting” series.

The actors are set to vote on the tentative agreement with the studios after the SAG-AFTRA national board approved the deal.
However, National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland said that the board only approved the deal by 86%, not a unanimous vote.
“This has been made possible by the membership’s phenomenal solidarity and support for their negotiating committee and we’re exceedingly grateful for all of the support from the entertainment industry unions who have rallied behind us throughout this strike,” he said.
Voting will begin on Tuesday, according to Crabtree-Ireland, and will end in the first week of December.
It comes as SAG-AFTRA’s press conference, led by President Fran Drescher and Crabtree-Ireland, to reveal some details of the proposals was delayed by around 90 minutes.
It follows a similar process to the WGA, which saw 99% of WGA members vote for their own three-year deal.

As Ron Burgundy once taught us, there’s only one thing a man can do when he’s suffering from a spiritual and existential funk — and no, Champ, it’s not go to the zoo and flip off the monkeys — it’s buy new “Suits.”
That’s what Universal, funk or no funk, is doing.
A new “Suits” series, described to IndieWire as an “expansion” of the “Suits” world, is in development at UCP. “Suits” creator Aaron Korsh is the lead writer on the project, and several original EPs are likely to return. There is no pilot yet, we’re told, though this version will focus on new characters and likely take place in Los Angeles. (Think of “Suits” as “CSI” and New “Suits” as “CSI: Miami.”) Like the Og series, it’ll be a legal-based workplace drama/procedural.

After a summer of breaking streaming records, Suits may be opening some new offices.
Series creator Aaron Korsh is in the early stages of developing a show set in the world of his USA Network legal drama for NBCUniversal — but it’s not a reboot or sequel. Instead, the potential series would feature new characters and a new setting, similar to other multi-show franchises (whether there would be any crossover potential with the original is a question for much further down the road). Los Angeles is the most likely setting for the project, sources say.
Universal Studio Group’s UCP produced Suits for USA, and discussions are underway with the studio about the new project. A potential series from Korsh would most likely run on an NBCU-owned platform.
The news comes after Suits spent 12 straight weeks as the most streamed title in the United States, according to Nielsen data (it...

Stay tuned. *Status Update Below.

It’s the end of The Wonder Years. ABC has canceled the comedy series — a reboot of the 1988 show of the same name — after a two-season run, Deadline reports. The latest version of The Wonder Years is a coming-of-age story following a Black middle-class family living in 1960s-era Montgomery, Alabama, through the point of view of 12-year-old Dean (Elisha “Ej” Williams). “With the wisdom of his adult years, Dean’s hopeful and humorous recollections show how his family found their ‘wonder years’ in a turbulent time,” ABC added in a logline for the series, which was narrated by Don Cheadle as an older version of the protagonist. Created by Saladin K. Patterson, The Wonder Years also starred Dulé Hill and Saycon Sengbloh as Bill and Lillian Williams, Dean’s parents, and Laura Kariuki as Kim, his sister. Amari O’Neil, Julian Lerner, and Milan Ray played friends of Dean’s — portraying Cory,...

We have some bad TV news to share this Saturday morning.
The Wonder Years has been canceled at ABC, Deadline reports.
The news comes a month after the series wrapped up its second season on the network.
Canceling a series without a pre-planned conclusion is difficult for the cast, crew, and fans, but it's been clear ABC has been considering a future without the series for some time.
Despite soft ratings, The Wonder Years scored a renewal for Season 2 last year and was set to premiere at midseason.
However, the network pushed it to the fall, keeping the show off the air for over a year.
Summer scripted shows were once widespread on the broadcast networks, but nowadays, shows are sent there to burn off produced episodes.
The Wonder Years Season 2 averaged 1.8 million viewers and a 0.21 rating across ten episodes, down 50% in the demo vs. the freshman season.

“The Wonder Years” reboot will not return for a third season at ABC, TheWrap has learned.
The network has chosen to cancel the sitcom starring Elisha “Ej” Williams, Dulé Hill and Saycon Sengbloh, which ran for two seasons. The cancellation comes just over a month after the coming-of-age drama aired the finale for its sophomore season, which saw the Williams family head to Disneyland.

Exclusive: ABC has opted not to proceed with a third season of The Wonder Years. The news comes a month after the reboot of the classic coming-of-age comedy wrapped its Season 2 run on the network.
Originally slated for a midseason return, The Wonder Years‘ second season was pushed to summer, hinting at the show’s potential fate as summer has traditionally been used as a destination for broadcast scripted series that have either been canceled or are likely to be.
The Wonder Years ranks as the lowest-rated and least watched ABC series this summer, behind the network’s unscripted slate. It also would rank last among ABC’s series that aired during the 2022-23 season.

"Suits" may have ended in 2019, but the show has taken on a whole new life (and fan base) since it recently became available to stream on Netflix. The long-running series, which first aired in 2011, ran for a total of nine seasons and inspired the 2019 spinoff series "Pearson." Following Netflix's acquisition of "Suits," viewers flocked to the platform and watched a total of 3.14 billion minutes of the show within its first week on the streamer, surpassing the highly popular Netflix original "Manifest," per The Hollywood Reporter.

Thousands of union members braved a beating sun on Tuesday outside Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California, as SAG-AFTRA brought out speakers including Kerry Washington, Martin Sheen and Ron Perlman as well as such labor leaders as Lindsay Dougherty, Duncan Crabtree-Ireland and Joely Fisher as part of its National Day of Solidarity rally.
Burbank police officers, who closed off residential streets in the area, estimated Tuesday’s crowd to be between 1,500-2,000, but organizers SAG-AFTRA expected as many as 5,000 to attend the event, which served as a rallying cry for the Writers Guild of America and the performers union during their ongoing strikes as well as a show of solidarity with those — including the Teamsters and IATSE — whose contracts are up in 2024.
“The eyes of the world are watching, but more importantly, the American worker is watching. And like us, they are saying ‘Enough.’ Enough to low wages...
