So much so that the police had to step in and shut it down. After that little hiccup, shooting has now commenced on the film and a first look image has been released.
Adapted from Victor Headley’s cult novel of the same name, Yardie follows the story of a young Jamaican named ‘D’ (Aml Ameen) who, on arriving in early 1980s London, unexpectedly finds the young man who assassinated his revered brother back in Jamaica ten years before. His quest for justice explodes into a violent street war that could end up killing him and his loved ones.

“Don’t Look Down,” the extraordinary true story of Richard Branson and his daring attempt to cross the Atlantic and Pacific in the world’s largest hot air balloon, is coming to theaters and VOD this November. A new trailer for the documentary was just released and shows the business magnate reliving the death-defying journeys he took in the mid ‘80s and early ‘90s.
“I saw my life flash before my eyes,” recalls Barnson in the clip. “It was just me standing on top of the capsule looking down at the water. I wrote a letter to the kids telling them how much I loved them, and then I prepared to jump.”
Directed by Daniel Gordon, the film captures the intensity and passion of the team that was involved in the project, as well as features interviews with key players and never-before-seen archival footage that was captured at that time.

Screen Film Summit: UK producers and financiers talk finance.
Producer Elizabeth Karlsen, speaking at the Screen Film Summit in London on Monday, revealed how experience, long-time industry relationships and “googling” were crucial in pulling together the finance for Todd Haynes’ New York-set lesbian love story Carol.

Kevin Macdonald, Stephen Woolley, Ken Loach and others speak about their respect for Tessa Ross.
Film4 head Tessa Ross’ decision to step down from her job next September (story here) has taken the UK film industry by surprise.
Leading industry figures have been lavish in their praise of Ross’ achievements since she joined Channel 4 in 2000. (She became Head of Film4 in 2003, followed by Controller of Film and Drama in 2008.) Some have also expressed wariness that a period of instability could follow her departure from the Channel.
Oscar winning director Kevin Macdonald, in post-production on Film4-backed The Black Sea and who also has a new feature on the Lockerbie bombing in development at Film4 with producer Christopher Young, acknowledged he had no prior inkling of Ross’ plans. “I only heard this morning. Tessa sent an email saying what was happening. I think it is going to leave a huge hole in British film that will be...
