Ringo Starr has been performing on stage for over 60 years since he began his career with The Beatles. However, the British drummer said he still experiences stage fright, even if the fear disappears shortly after taking the stage.

Starr joined The Beatles in 1962 after the band struggled to find the perfect drummer. While still a pivotal member of the band, much of the attention was often on Paul McCartney and John Lennon as most of the songs were written and sung by them. After releasing several solo albums and songs, Starr formed the All-Starr band in 1989, who he continues to tour with today. However, unlike most bands, the All-Starr band consists of a constantly rotating set of musicians. In an interview with USA Today,...

It’s been three decades since Ringo Starr founded his All Starr supergroup and took the stage with some of rock and roll’s biggest luminaries, creating an exceptional legacy of performances of some of the greatest hits of all time culled from Starr’s extraordinary catalog as a solo artist and as Beatle, as well as the All Starr Band members’ substantive songbook.

There’s something overwhelmingly endearing about Ringo Starr’s “What’s My Name?” — the title track off of his 20th studio album, which dropped in October. Perhaps it’s because, despite being all about Ringo, it was written by long-time All-Starr Band member Colin Hay. Or maybe it’s the fact that the chorus comes from a refrain Ringo often throws out at live shows. Or maybe it’s simply because the song is fun — my husband and I often throw up the peace sign while dancing to it in the car.

A remake of Ernst Lubitsch’s 1932 film Broken Lullaby, itself based on a stage play, Frantz is the latest character-based drama from prolific French director François Ozon. Deeply melancholy and very moving, it’s a proper old school tearjerker, and more accessible than its austere monochrome aesthetic might imply.
1919. Widowed Anna (Paula Beer) lives in Quedlinberg with the Hoffmeisters, the parents of her late husband, Frantz, who was killed in battle the previous year. One day Anna visits Frantz’s grave and finds fresh flowers. The flowers were laid by a visiting Frenchman named Adrien (Pierre Niney). He says he knew Frantz.
The Hoffmeisters tentatively welcome Adrien into their home. Mrs Hoffmeister (Marie Gruber) and Anna are keen to establish a posthumous emotional connection with Frantz via Adrien.

If one is a legend himself, the other one is a super star and the one who is bringing them together, is himself a pool of talent whose works are class apart. Yes, Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar are teaming up for none other than R.Balki’s next film. Balki has made his name speak louder whenever we want to watch something that gives us an 'out-of-the -box' experience. With the most unusual themed films in his bag, this ad-man turned director has paved his own way in to previously dominated commercial segment of the films. ‘Cheeni Kum’, ‘Paa’, ‘Shamitabh’ and lately the role reversal film ‘Ki and Ka’, Balki’s films have got that X-factor to get hits. Akshay has shared screen with Amitabh in ‘Family’, ‘Waqt’ and ‘Aan-Men at work’ and their paring has fetched success ratings. Now, after almost 10 years, they will be seen working together.

Trailers are an under-appreciated art form insofar that many times they’re seen as vehicles for showing footage, explaining films away, or showing their hand about what moviegoers can expect. Men at Work musician Greg Ham died Thursday at his home in Australia, local outlets reported. He was 58, and Australian authorities haven't yet established a cause of death. Men front man Colin Hay described Ham as "the funniest person I knew," saying in a statement. "We played in a band and conquered the world together."...

Men at Work have lost their final attempt to prove that they did not plagiarise a melody from a children's song. In 2009, the Australian group were accused of stealing the flute riff in their hit single 'Down Under' from 'Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree' by publishing company Larrikin Music, which has the copyright for the original song. Last year, a judge found that the majority of the melody replicated 'Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree' and demanded that Emi Songs Australia and songwriters Colin Hay and Ron Strykert pay 5% of royalties earned from 'Down Under' since (more)...

Sydney — Australian rockers Men at Work on Friday lost their final court bid to prove they did not steal the distinctive flute riff of their 1980s hit "Down Under" from a children's campfire song.
The High Court of Australia denied the band's bid to appeal a federal court judge's earlier ruling that the group had copied the signature flute melody of "Down Under" from the song "Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree."
"Kookaburra," a song about Australia's famous bird of the same name, was written more than 70 years ago by Australian teacher Marion Sinclair for a Girl Guides competition. The song went on to become a favorite around campfires from New Zealand to Canada. The wildly popular "Down Under" remains an unofficial anthem for Australia.
Sinclair died in 1988, but publishing company Larrikin Music – which now holds the copyright for "Kookaburra" – filed a copyright lawsuit in 2009.

More NBA Playoffs tonight and depending on how one of these games goes, I may be very happy that my graduation ceremony tomorrow is not until 4pm in the afternoon. Although, frankly, I'm sort of on the side that Miami better make it to the finals after all the stupid publicity surrounding LeBron's decision to come here and the whole "Three Kings" shit that was Everywhere leading up to this basketball season. I'm not saying you should be able to buy a championship but frankly anything less than final round is going to be seen as abject failure for the Heat at this point. Oh, and there's some other stuff on TV that I don't care as much about also. Here's your Wednesday night TV:
7:00pm: "NBA Playoffs: Boston at Miami, Game 5" on TNT
8:00pm: "American Idol" on Fox

Yesterday, we celebrated the day that Paul McCartney first met John Lennon, a meeting that ended up eventually giving birth to the Beatles. Today, we celebrate the birth of Richard Starkey, the man who would be known the world over as Ringo Starr, the man who kept the beat for the Beatles. He turns 70 years old today. Of the four Beatles, Ringo was the oldest (he was a few months older than Lennon) and has had one of the most fascinating solo careers since the legendary band disbanded 40 years ago.
Starr always had one of the most dynamic personalities of any of the Beatles, helping to craft some of the group's most off-beat tunes (including "Octopus's Garden" and "Don't Pass Me By") and providing the most electrifying on-screen presence (his is the one performance in "A Hard Day's Night" that stands out, and he had a relatively fruitful acting career...

Did they steal from the land Down Under? Yep, if you believe the judge. Colin Hay, lead singer and principal songwriter of the legendary Aussie band Men at Work, is panning a Sydney judge's ruling that Hay and pals ripped off the popular Australian campfire tune "Kookaburra" for the Grammy-winning group's ubiquitous '80s hit, "Down Under." "I believe what has won today is opportunistic greed, and what has suffered, is creative musical endeavor," Hay says in a statement published in the Sydney Herald Sun. "This outcome will have no real impact upon the relationship that I have with our song 'Down Under,' for we are connected forever." So...
