Soylent Green (1973), based on his novel] I went down to the set and took a lot of copies of the book with me and gave one to everyone I could think of--the actors, the cameraman, the technicians--all of whom seemed to appreciate meeting me. I mean, they don't care about screenwriters, but authors of real books are something different. They don't get to see many real books in Hollywood, only rotten screenplays.
