British grime artist Wiley has been stripped of a national honour, after he posted abusive social media posts aimed at his Jewish critics and other figures.
The 45-year-old rapper from East London was seven years ago awarded the MBE – Member of the British Empire, presented by the monarch – for his services to music.
Within a few years, his followers had noticed many anti-Semitic comments on his social media platform, including a statement likening Jews to the Ku Klux Klan. He also wrote “Israel is ours,” apparently referring to the black community, and shared his opinion that Jewish people control global business interests, as well as the entertainment industry.

Of all the films screening at the Galway Film Fleadh on the West Coast of Ireland, one stands out as having the sort of wild premise that should instantly pique the interest of anyone with a penchant for comedy of the more ridiculous variety.
Apocalypse Clown — getting its world premiere on Friday before screening at Canada’s Fantastia Festival later this month and ahead of its U.K. and Ireland release on Sept. 1 — may even boast the most “Wtf?” film plotline of the year, with a story set in the aftermath of a mysterious blackout that plunges Ireland into anarchy and following a group of washed-up clowns, brought together following a mass brawl at a funeral, who traverse the country in chaotic and sometimes bloody fashion for one last shot at their (far-fetched) dreams. A quiet arthouse drama, this is not.

Rolf Harris, a once-beloved British kids’ TV personality who was later sentenced to five years in prison for a string of assaults on young girls, has died, the BBC reported Tuesday. He was 93.
The Australian entertainer was found guilty in 2014 of assaulting four girls between 1968 and 1986 and served three and a half years before being released in 2017. Before that, he was a widely beloved figure in the U.K. and Australia across five decades.
The trial judge admonished Harris for an apparent lack of remorse, and he never appeared on TV again.
Harris was also a prolific musician, songwriter, comedian, actor, and painter, having painted Queen Elizabeth’s official portrait in 2005. He used unique instruments in his performances, with particular proficiency at the didgeridoo and stylophone.
Harris’ entertainment career began in the 1950s with several hit songs, including “Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport,” “Jake the Peg” and “Two Little Boys,...

The race to be top of the British singles chart at Christmas has been an annual event every December since 1952.
On Friday 23, LadBaby broke a record they were previously tied for with The Beatles, achieving their fifth consecutive Christmas No 1.
The Beatles had been top of the tree since 1967 with a record four Christmas number ones, although that was equalled last year when LadBaby claimed their fourth win in four years with an offering called “Sausage Rolls for Everyone”.
LadBaby have now vaulted to the top with their fifth No 1, “Food Aid”.
The Spice Girls also notched an impressive three consecutive victories in the mid-Nineties, while Sir Cliff Richard also has a hat-trick to his name.
LadBaby, Aka Mark and Roxanne Hoyle, are actually having another crack at it in 2022, with the help of ever popular money-saving guru Martin Lewis, who, rather suprisingly, is joining them for a chairty cover...

Jimmy Carr knows a thing or two about controversy. Think of the time, earlier this year, when a chronically ill-judged Holocaust joke about the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller community saw him showered with condemnation. Or when he joked about Reeva Steenkamp’s murder at the 2014 Q Awards. Or his infamous tax avoidance scandal. All this might make him seem like an apt choice to host Channel 4’s new programme, Jimmy Carr Destroys Art. But is he?
The TV special, airing tonight, sees the lewd-lipped comedian debate the moral merits of selected artworks created by “problematic artists”. Under the spotlight: Adolf Hitler. Convicted paedophile Rolf Harris. Sculptor and incestuous abuser Eric Gill. And Pablo Picasso, whose historical treatment of women has come under increased scrutiny in recent years. Jimmy Carr Destroys Art might sound like the hooky title of a YouTube compilation video – “Jimmy Carr Destroys heckler” or “Jimmy Carr...

A Channel 4 show in which Jimmy Carr will be given the power to destroy a painting by Adolf Hitler has been criticised by the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust.
Airing later this month, Jimmy Carr Destroys Art (originally listed as Art Trouble) will see the controversial comedian look into the debate around “separating the art from the artist”.
Audiences will then vote whether or not he should destroy the artworks bought by Channel 4 and created by “problematic” artists, including Hitler, Pablo Picasso, Rolf Harris and Eric Gill.
Channel 4’s director of programming Ian Katz said that the show would see guests advocate for eeach piece of art.
“So you’ve got an advocate for Hitler,” he said. “There’ll be someone arguing not for Hitler, but for the fact that his moral character should not decide whether or not a piece of art exists or not.”
The announcement was met with criticism,...

Channel 4 has purchased artworks by “problematic” figures including Adolf Hitler and Rolf Harris for use in its new debate programme Art Trouble.
The series will see audiences vote on whether or not to allow the host, comedian Jimmy Carr, to destroy the artworks with tools such as a flamethrower.
Other artworks acquired by Channel 4 for use in the show include pieces by Pablo Picasso and sexual abuser Eric Gill.

Hugh Grant has resurfaced his reaction to the Conservative party win in the 2019 general election.
The actor tweeted minutes after the Exit Poll data was released, which showed a landslide majority for Boris Johnson.
“There goes the neighbourhood,” he wrote on 12 December 2019, issuing a warning of the impact he believed Johnson’s leadership would have on the UK.
On Wednesday (12 October), Grant, 62, reshared his three-year-old tweet with an emoji of a finger pointing to it seemingly in emphasis.
The Love Actually star has long been a vocal critic of the Tory government.
In May this year, Grant criticised cabinet members for supporting then-prime minister Johnson after Sue Gray’s report revealed drunkenness, vomiting and damage at the illegal events and the abuse of cleaners who objected.
Responding to a tweet that collated screenshots of support for Johnson from Rishi Sunak, Liz Truss, and Sajid Javid, Grant quipped that the replies...

ITV is to examine the truth behind disgraced former TV star Rolf Harris’ abusive crimes in a two-part documentary series from All3Media-backed indie Optomen.
Rolf Harris: Hiding in Plain Sight (w/t) will speak to his victims, the police who investigated him and colleagues who worked alongside him to tell the story of the rise and fall of a TV star who came across as a non-threatening eccentric with a devoted wife.
Following the Jimmy Savile scandal, the former Animal Hospital presenter and multi-hyphenate was investigated for abusing his daughter’s friend when she was 13, and accusers then emerged stating that he molested them on the shows he worked on for years.
ITV’s films will explore Harris’ remorseless attitude in court and his wife and daughter’s decision to stand by him. He served a three year sentence in the UK and was released in 2017.

Harvey Weinstein has been stripped of his honorary Cbe following his conviction for rape and sexual assault.
An announcement in The London Gazette confirmed that British monarch Queen Elizabeth II has annulled the award, which was originally bestowed in 2004 for services to the film industry.
Disgraced mogul Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison in March following multiple investigations into abuse and harassment.
Weinstein faces additional criminal charges in Los Angeles, though extradition proceedings have been delayed until December due to the pandemic.
The British Film Institute recently rescinded Weinstein’s Fellowship, which they had awarded him in 2002.
Those to have been stripped of royal honors in the past include convicted sex offender Rolf Harris and former banking CEO Fred Goodwin for his role in the collapse of the Royal Bank Of Scotland.

Look, we've had Made in Chelsea. We've had Towie. Now, imagine a structured reality show featuring A-listers: agent squabbles, and Gordon Ramsay and Ricky Gervais swapping dating tips, and President Obama making a visit. Wouldn't that be amazing?
Lookalikes is not that show. But it's probably about as close as we're going to get.
Honestly, we don't really know what Lookalikes was, to be honest. The new Channel 4 show suggested that it was structured reality in the vein of Towie - real people, possibly artificial situations - but it was so bizarre that we couldn't really get our heads round it. What was real? What was fake? Normally, we can suspend our disbelief, but Lookalikes was actually a little distracting with it.
And not all of it worked. Really, the work of a lookalikes agency is probably enough for a standard reality series or documentary without the more ridiculous...

The co-hosts of the now ten-year-old program At the Movies have not offered an explanation as to why they snubbed the film, but it can be assumed it was due to its graphic content.
This comes in spite of the fact both Pomeranz and Stratton have reviewed the original Wolf Creek (giving it four stars each), and other violent flicks such as Snowtown and Saw in the past. The inconsistencies in their approach are yet to be explained, with an At the Movies representative declining to comment.

Major media outlets followed The Sun newspaper in identifying Harris, an Australian-born artist, musician and television host who is a household name in Britain.
He was first questioned by police in November but not arrested. He was arrested in March and released on bail pending further inquiries.
Asked about Harris, London's Metropolitan Police said they would not name suspects who have not been charged.
Police said an 82-year-old man in Berkshire, west of London, was arrested March 28 as part of Operation Yewtree, an investigation launched after revelations that Savile targeted hundreds of young victims over five decades. Savile died in 2011 at age 84.
