It's a film about a fictional film festival looking to scam indie filmmakers (a la "The Producers") -- and the real-life filmmakers have started a crowdfunding campaign for the film, which will be a collaborative effort. Got that? "Scamdance," a film looking for funding on Kickstarter, is offering backers an unusual reward: experience in making a film, in this case, "Scamdance," a comedy about a fictional film festival. "It's like Project Greenlight," said the project's creator, the writer/director Sean Hanley. "Only instead of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck calling the shots, our backers will be involved in all key movie-making decisions." In exchange for funding the film, backers will be directly involved in everything from script rewrites to auditioning actors; scene edits and rough cuts will be voted on collectively, as will the composer's score and other music. Backers get experience working on a film and Hanley gets to fund his project and hopefully,...

The 6th annual Mono No Aware expanded cinema event is having a breakthrough year. For the first time, it is now officially taking place over two nights: Dec. 7-8 at LightSpace Studios in Brooklyn, NY. Each night is also completely free to attend.
Mono No Aware is always an absolutely unique event featuring live cinematic performances that are, for the most part, designed to take place one time only. If you don’t see these here, you won’t see them anywhere.
Each performance also features a celluloid element, either 16mm or Super 8mm, which is usually combined with some sort of live audio performance. However, there are also several film installation projects, such as Jodie Mack‘s ultra-cool zoetrope bike — a cinema that is entirely pedal-powered!
