Carla Gugino's had great success as an actress -- she's a geek goddess after her Sin City cameo and her turn as Sally Jupiter in Watchmen, and she won raves on Broadway this year for Desire Under the Elms -- but she's thinking of starting a second career as a porn star. Just call her Elektra Luxx, the character she plays in boyfriend Sebastian Gutierrez's new movie Women in Trouble; it's a role that Gugino enjoyed so much that she's hoping to spin Luxx into a series of additional films. A little assertive, the slightest bit daffy, and rocked by news of an impending pregnancy, Luxx is a porn star on the brink -- and that's just where Gugino likes her.
I talked to the 38-year-old actress yesterday about Luxx's appeal, onscreen sex, and her much-anticipated reteaming with Watchmen director Zack Snyder on Sucker Punch, which Gugino was eager to discuss. »

ComingSoon.net has your exclusive first look at a clip from Women in Trouble , the Sebastian Gutierrez comedy starring Carla Gugino, Connie Britton, Adrianne Palicki, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Simon Baker, Josh Brolin, Marley Shelton and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Opening November 13th, the film is about one day in the lives of ten seemingly disparate women - including a porn star, a flight attendant, a psychiatrist, a masseuse, a bartender and a pair of call girls -- all with one thing in common: trouble. Gugino stars as Elektra Luxx, a world-famous porn star whose future is thrown for a loop with the news that she's pregnant and Palicki is Holly Rocket, a not-too-bright adult industry newcomer with an inconvenient aversion to girl-girl action. Their paths intersect with, among others, a... »

Adrianne Palicki spells trouble. And she does it while looking pretty hot, if you ask us. Once again we've got an awesome little exclusive to support one of our favorite films of the year, Sebastian Gutierrez's Women in Trouble. This time, it's Ms. Palicki showing up in her favorite costume just in time for Halloween. I'm not sure what our resident sex columnist Bethany Perryman would say, but this might be something that you ladies out there might consider... Just a thought. Don't hit me. Palicki stars as Holly Rocket, a porn star by day, call-girl by night who is most certainly in trouble. She stars alongside the likes of Carla Gugino, Emmanuel Chriqui, Connie Britton, Marley Shelton and Cameron Richardson in this tale of ten women and the trouble they have in common. It is a film that I myself called a genuinely honest dramedy that is held together by a very strong all-female cast »

Sebastian Gutierrez's new film, Women in Trouble, is about 10 women living in L.A. has an amazing ensemble cast which includes Emmanuelle Chirqui (Entourage) and Elizabeth Berkley (Showgirls, The L Word). A film about 10 different women's lives can hardly be summed up in a sentence or two, so I'll let stars Carla Gugino and Adrianne Palicki (Friday Night Lights) tell you why you should take interest in Women in Trouble. Take note, they're in character — as their on-screen stripper personas.
Warning: Nsfw language.
If that isn't enough information about the film for you, then allow me to expand on why I'm interested in seeing it, myself. Early reviews indicate that there are several sorts of bisexual flirting involved in the movie, including Adrianne's character, Holly, and Emmanuelle's Bambi agreeing to perform a "sister act" as call girls one night. However, "bad things happen" and it doesn't go off as planned. »

Screen Media has debuted the official trailer for Women in Trouble starring the lovely Carla Gugino over on Apple. If you don't know what this is, Women in Trouble is an ensemble film about 10 women and the trouble in their lives. But these aren't ordinary women: they're strippers and call girls. Carla Gugino plays real life porn star Elektra Luxx. She's joined by other beauties including Emmanuelle Chriqui, Adrianne Palicki, Marley Shelton, and Connie Britton, and flanked by a few guys like Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Simon Baker. As sexy as this is, it kind of looks straight-to-dvd quality, but I'm still interested in checking it out. I have to admit there's a certain chick-flick feel to the trailer for Women in Trouble, which is unfortunate, although I can understand having to distill the pure insanity of the movie into just a few minutes. Plus, it's nice to remember the softer side every once in a while. Even if the softer side comes with whips and leather chaps. Important lessons learned! Emotional collapses! Cleavage! An a personal note, who knew that you could get pregnant by having sex? Thank God for this film and it's important educational facets. I also dig how each of the potentially cheesy lines are complimented by a drunken mess falling down or Adrianne Palicki getting hit by a car. Which happens all the time. So, yes, the film raises a lot of questions, but an even better question is how the production got fake porn movies like Even Reverse Cowgirls Get The Blues officially up on IMDb. I'm »

The trailer for Women in Trouble, the Sebastian Gutierrez comedy following one day in the intersecting lives of 10 women in Los Angeles that won some fans at the SXSW Film Festival, debuted on the Web last night. Because they've got to keep the trailer G-rated, you get a bit of a Boys on the Side vibe. Check out this clip of Carla Gugino's pregnant porn star Elektra Luxx telling Connie Britton's slightly horrified woman trapped in an elevator with her about her, um, merchandising, and you get a better idea of what you're dealing with. Apple has posted the first full trailer for Sebastian Gutierrez’s not-really-a-chick-flick chick flick “Women in Trouble”. Yes, I’m actually anticipating a movie about a bunch of chicks and the crazy, nutty things that happen to them. One major plus: no scenes of girls dancing in their pajamas to some crappy song. At least, not in the trailer. Plus, Carla Gugino looks like she’s in the role of a lifetime, and we for one applaud the lass for finally getting the chance to sink her teeth into something juicy. A pregnant porn star, a couple of call girls, a scorned psychiatrist, a teenage goth, a flight attendant with a crush on a famous passenger… the troubles of this cluster of La women couldn’t be more different, but on one crazy day feminine compassion will alter all of their lives. The sex comedy Women In Trouble seems to have it all -- gorgeous ladies, madcap mishaps, ample cleavage, Josh Brolin doing a dubious British accent, crying, breasts, characters named Elektra Luxx and Holly Rocket, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and a stripper getting hit by a car. If you need more than that to catch your interest, you may be hopeless. The film comes from Sebastian Gutierrez (Rise, She Creature), who's already in post-production on the sequel. Check out the trailer below or a bigger version at Apple. »

We've been beating the Women in Trouble drum quite loudly lately, haven't we? And for good reason, as it was by and large one of our favorite SXSW '09 films. Directed by Sebastian Gutierrez, it follows the story of ten seemingly desperate women, all of whom are having a really bad day full of, well, trouble. There's a flight attendant (Marley Shelton), a psychiatrist (Sarah Clarke), a porn star (Carla Gugino), a pair of call-girls (Adrianne Palicki and Emmanuelle Chriqui), a masseuse (Cameron Richardson) and a young girl (Isabella Gutierrez), all just trying to stay out of trouble. In these three newly release photos, seen below, we see all of these women and some of the men in their lives (Josh Brolin and Simon Baker). It's an interesting way to market the film. And if I do say so, a very busy and almost confusing one. My hope is that we see something a little sexier, and »
