It's important to remember that J.J. Abrams' 2009 film "Star Trek" is not based so much on the 1966 TV series "Star Trek," but a very particular popular perception of the show. The film's ethos seemed to be to cull a few well-known character details of each ensemble member and kick them into overdrive. Captain James T. Kirk, despite being a rather judicious and clear-thinking captain on the 1966 series, has gained a somewhat unfair reputation as a reckless cowboy and hopeless lothario. As such, when Chris Pine played the character in 2009, Kirk was depicted as a horny, skirt-chasing ragamuffin, willing to break rules at every available opportunity. Leonard "Bones" McCoy (Karl Urban) was given a strange new origin for his nickname, and Spock (Zachary Quinto) was bafflingly romantically entangled with Uhura (Zoe Saldaña).
One might say the new "Star Trek" cast behaved hotter and more wildly than their 1966 counterparts because they...

Tom Cruise is used to going to extremes to thrill audiences with the bombastic action of the Mission: Impossible franchise, but how long can he cheat death by repeatedly playing MI6 agent Ethan Hunt? If Cruise has his way, he’ll laugh at the Grim Reaper’s boney face alongside the withering visage of Father Time by defying the odds for years to come. Forever the goal-oriented actor, Cruise says he wants to walk in Harrison Ford’s shadow by playing Ethan Hunt until he’s the Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny actor’s age.
“Harrison Ford is a legend,” Cruise told The Sydney Morning Herald while walking the red carpet on the Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One premiere. “I’ve got twenty years to catch up with him.” While Cruise has played Ethan Hunt for over twenty years, Ford still plays Henry Walton “Indiana” Jones Jr.

The newest adventure of Ethan Hunt and his Imf comrades will be making its way into theaters in a couple of weeks. Recently, Tom Cruise and his frequent collaborator, Christopher McQuarrie, are championing the theater-going practice and good ol’ fashion cinematic experiences as they encourage audiences to see both Oppenheimer and Barbie to support theaters. This is in addition to their determination to give movie-goers the most thrilling entertainment for their latest outing, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. The new featurette takes you behind the scenes of another giant set piece involving a little-known extreme sport called Speedflying. It’s both exactly as it sounds and exactly what you’d expect from Cruise and Company.
The official synopsis from Paramount Pictures reads,

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One writer/director Christopher McQuarrie describes the new Mi film’s Rome chase scene as more ambitious and unpredictable than any car stunt they’ve previously shot. The two-minute behind-the-scenes featurette shows just how incredibly difficult the car chase was to shoot, especially given that it was all done practically.
“It all comes down to one thing: How do we involve the audience? I just want to give them that thrill,” explains franchise star Tom Cruise.
Part of lengthy chase scene involves Tom Cruise and Hayley Atwell handcuffed together while they’re being pursued, which meant that Cruise had to drive one-handed. “Tom driving and drifting one-handed through the streets of Rome… That was a day I’ll never forget,” says Atwell.
Returning cast members for this seventh film of the Mi franchise include Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell, Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn, Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa Faust,...

Paramount Pictures and Skydance’s Mission: Impossible 7 — Dead Reckoning: Part One, featuring Tom Cruise’s next action-packed sprint as Ethan Hunt, has landed a high-value release date in China on July 14. That’s the same day the film launches in North America, which creates marketing synergies and savings for the film and its studio.
Recently, Hollywood tentpoles have been earning less in China, still the world’s second-biggest theatrical box-office territory — but if there’s anyone who can break the trend, perhaps it’s Tom Cruise. His global smash hit Top Gun: Maverick wasn’t released in China because of political reasons. But the last film in the M:i franchise, Mission: Impossible – Fallout earned $181 million in China.
Dead Reckoning: Part One is the seventh installment in Cruise’s franchise, which stretches back to 1996. The eighth and presumably final Cruise-led Mission is due out June 28, 2024.

Fistfights, car stunts, and one of Tom Cruise’s craziest stunts ever – and there are a lot to choose from – are featured in the official trailer for the seventh film of the Mi franchise, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. The scene of Cruise racing off a cliff on a motorcycle was the focus of a special behind-the-scenes featurette released in December 2022. Cruise did extensive training for the sequence, described as the biggest stunt in cinema history, including taking part in 13,000+ motocross jumps and 500 skydives.
Returning Mi stars joining Cruise include Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell, Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn, Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa Faust, and Vanessa Kirby as The White Widow. Hayley Atwell, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Mariela Garriga, Henry Czerny, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Frederick Schmidt, Charles Parnell, Rob Delaney, Cary Elwes, Indira Varma, and Mark Gatiss also star.

Ethan Hunt’s next mission is going to cost him dearly.
The new trailer for Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning: Part One reveals more of what Tom Cruise has in store when he returns to the Imf agent role he originated in 1996.
The seventh installment in the billion-dollar action-spy franchise returns familiar faces and sees Cruise perform more high-octane stunts. After hyping up the sequel with a 20-minute scene at CinemaCon — which included a chase sequence involving Cruise being handcuffed to co-star Hayley Atwell as they flee the police and others out to get them — the latest preview shows the action star speeding off the edge of a cliff full throttle on a motorcycle, engaging in a knife fight atop a speeding train, and then hanging on by a thread as a train car nosedives into the water below.

The wait just got a little shorter for audiences to see Tom Cruise back in action as Ethan Hunt with Paramount/Skydance’s highly-anticipated Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One now set for domestic release on July 12 rather than July 14. That puts it in step with the start of international rollout and is a move designed to take advantage of early summer play.
Paramount boss Brian Robbins made the announcement while closing out Par’s CinemaCon slate presentation, and then the audience got an epic treat with a look at a 20-minute extended sequence from the seventh installment in the franchise. Cruise was unfortunately a no-show.
In the second trailer, Henry Czerny’s Eugene Kittridge tells Cruise’s Ethan Hunt, “Ethan, this is a mission that is going to cost you dearly.” Rebecca Ferguson’s Ilsa says in a voiceover, “The world is changing, truth is vanishing, war is coming.

A year after Tom Cruise saved cinemas with Top Gun: Maverick, the daredevil action star returns to his most famous franchise with an epic, two-parter starting with this summer’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. In this entry, Cruise is already revealed to be hanging on to the wing of a bi-plane, and most notably, he would be making a motorcycle jump off a cliff into a wing glide. Paramount has recently dropped a new teaser poster for the film which headlines the stunt.
There is yet to be an official synopsis released, and the plot is currently being kept under wraps. However, the trailer features the return of the Kittridge character, who was the former director of the Imf in the original Mission: Impossible back in 1996. The trailer also features Hayley Atwell getting caught up in a situation with Ethan Hunt, as well as a couple of trained assassins,...

The daredevil stunt will be featured in the upcoming seventh film of the Mission: Impossible franchise, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. Paramount aims to resume production on “Mission: Impossible 7” this September after it was shut down in late February due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“We hope to restart in September. We hope to visit all the countries we planned to,” the film’s first assistant director, Tommy Gormley, said in an interview Tuesday on BBC Radio 4’s “Today.” “We hope to do a big chunk of it back in the U.K. on the backlot and in the studio, so September through to end April-May is our target.”

“Mission: Impossible 7” is set to restart filming in September after shutting down filming earlier this year due to Covid-19 — and the film’s outdoor scenes are set to shoot first.
Actor Simon Pegg, who plays Benji Dunn in the franchise, tells Variety that a September restart is “the plan” for the film. “That will begin with the outdoor stuff,” says Pegg, “That feels fairly doable, and obviously there will be precautions put in place.”

“We hope to start shooting again in September. We were days from shooting in Venice — we were right at the epicenter when it all kicked off — so we had to shut down in Venice where we were four or five days from shooting,” Gormley told BBC Radio 4’s Today program.

Luke Skywalker’s epic legacy in a galaxy far, far away may be coming to an end in the final trailer for “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” but it also marks the return of some of the series greatest characters.
Both Luke and Leia return in the trailer, which aired during ESPN’s Monday Night Football, alongside the long-awaited Emperor Palpatine, who shares a brief threatening message.
“Long have I waited, and now your coming together is your undoing,” Palpatine says.
The final film in the Skywalker saga, “The Rise of Skywalker” is about a “new generation, what they’ve inherited, the light and the dark,” said director J.J. Abrams at a Star Wars Celebration in April, before teasing that characters will face off against “the greatest evil.”

“Star Wars” got a last look Monday night at “The Rise of Skywalker” before the film hits theaters this Christmas courtesy of the final trailewr, and shocker, Kylo Ren and Rey use lightsabers in it.
Disney/Lucasfilm are keeping the story under tight lockdown. We know almost nothing about the actual plot. The previous “The Rise of Skywalker” trailer teased that Rey might turn to the Dark Side of the Force, complete with a wicked red Swiss Army knife of a lightsaber. We didn’t see any evidence of Rey turning to the dark side, but we did get to see her waving around her regular light saber while Kylo waves his unique crossguard blade.
The trailer also shows us new locales, including a crowded marketplace, a place where icebergs float in the sky, and somehow a huge new Resistance (or Rebellion? We honestly don’t know at this point) fleet.

Tickets for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will become available following the halftime of ESPN’s Monday Night Football game between the New England Patriots and New York Jets, after Disney drops the final trailer for the film. The run on Star Wars: Force Awakens tickets back in 2015 caused advance ticket sales sites to crash, which occurred recently back in April with the record first day presales for Avengers: Endgame, a record that was shared by Fandango and Atom Tickets.
Some aren’t expecting Skywalker presales to best those of Endgame, however, a record of some sort will be in store, i.e. hourly or evening, or second or third best first day sales.

J.J. Abrams and co-writer Chris Terrio currently face two big questions as they approach production on Star Wars: Episode IX.
For starters, how do they go about closing out Lucasfilm’s Skywalker Saga in a way that satisfies as much as it thrills? And perhaps most important of all: what do they do with the character of Luke, who met his end in the climax of The Last Jedi?
It’s no secret that Mark Hamill’s Jedi Master took his last breath soon after his Force projection deceived Kylo Ren on the salt plains of Crait, but the ambiguous nature of his ‘death’ has led many to believe that the galaxy’s most famous farm boy will be making a return come 2019 – Force ghost or not. After all, they can’t really close out the current trilogy without him, right?

Yesterday, Star Wars 7 News reported that a theater owner had told them the trailer for J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens would be attached to The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. And then a person on twitter, Reece Steel, said he spoke with the film's first assistant. Reece tweeted, "Had a talk from Thomas Gormley today, when asked about the teaser trailer for Star Wars VII he said, “You might wanna go see The Hobbit.” Not only was that tweet quickly deleted but so was the entire twitter account, which was created in 2012 and had over 4,000 tweets. Today, a source for Slash Film has provided them with an interesting update. Well, we’ve heard from a very credible source that, with 100% certainty, the Star Wars 7 trailer won’t debut with Peter Jackson’s latest The Hobbit film. There’s a very strong likelihood it will...

Brace yourselves, because according to /Film, the teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens will reportedly debut in front of The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies. As in “Brown Betty”, the noir-inspired musical episode from season two, Walter gets high and the episode around him reflects his mental state. “Black Blotter”
Written By: Kristin Cantrell
Directed By: Tommy Gormley
Original Airdate: 14 December 2012
In This Episode...
Walter has dropped acid, which makes this one trippy, non-linear episode.
Astrid wakes in the middle of the night to find the radio they retrieved from the pocket universe is receiving a transmission. It is a Morse code of sorts, but one that Astrid cannot decipher. Walter is far gone down the acid hole by this point, so Peter calls Anil and he helps them trace the source of the signal.
Olivia and Peter trace the source of the signal to a spot in the woods. They discover what must have been an early fight against the Observers. Three bodies on the ground, and a fourth behind the wheel of a trailer. All died in a gunfight, at least 10-15 years ago. Two were Observers; one was a loyalist. The one in the trailer was,...
