Barely 15 minutes into the premiere of Fox’s new reality series, Labor of Love, an assemblage of guys mill about at a cocktail party, hoping to catch a few minutes with the lone female in attendance.
The visuals are fairly standard for anyone who’s ever tuned into The Bachelor or The Bachelorette or even UnREAL. Most of the dudes are white. All have impeccable teeth. Some wear suits, others opt for a more casual look. They all are in their 30s and 40s. They have job descriptions that range from vague (creative director) to outta-left-field (former pro-wrestler). Fox has given the green light to a brand-new reality series following a former “Bachelor” contestant’s unconventional journey to motherhood.
Hosted by “Sex and the City” star Kristin Davis, “Labor of Love” follows 41-year old Kristy Katzmann, who competed on one of Brad Womack’s seasons of “The Bachelor” in 2007. Fox describes her as a “smart, successful and beautiful career woman who seems to have it all – that is, except the one thing she wants the most. Like so many women in America today, she is ready to have a child and start a family, but has yet to meet the potential father of her children. Kristy will be matched with 15 sexy, sophisticated and like-minded men, who are ready to let their paternal sides shine.”
“Labor of Love” premieres May 21. Here’s how the show will work — each week, the aspiring dads-to-be will have to complete challenges that put...

Fox has ordered a reality show about a woman on the hunt for a man with whom she can father a child.
“Sex and the City” alum Kristin Davis will host “Labor of Love,” which will bow on the broadcaster on May 21. Former “Bachelor” contestant Kristy Katzmann will be the subject of the eight-episode series, during which she will meet 15 men who will go through a series of challenges to prove their fatherhood and relationship skills.
If they are successful, the aspiring fathers-to-be will advance to the next week. After eight weeks Katzmann, with Davis’ help, will decide if she has found the man with whom she’d like to settle down and start a family or if she’d rather continue on the path to motherhood on her own.
The project has been in development at Fox since 2017.
