Traveling with his friend, playwright
Charles Klein to London when their
ship, the Lusitania, was sunk by a U-boat. Frohman was moderately
crippled by a fall some time earlier and found it difficult to walk
without assistance or a cane; he declined any effort at rescuing
himself in favor of other passengers and gave his life belt to another
passenger. Both men died in the sinking.
