We've been talking about Axelle Carolyn's new short film The Halloween Kid for a few months, and now that it's about to have its world premiere at Buff, the prestigious International Children and Young People's Film Festival in Malmo, Sweden, in March, Carolyn has released a teaser trailer to celebrate.
The Halloween Kid stars Julian Glover, Anna Walton (Hellboy 2), Dave Legeno (Harry Potter) and Leo Donnelly with narration by Sir Derek Jacobi. It's produced by James Webber, Ben Robinson, Neil Marshall and Axelle Carolyn. Executive producers are Robert Meyer Burnett, Giles Daoust, Kai Meyer and Daniel Martin Eckhart with Michael Hudson as associate producer.
"We’re really looking to capture the spirit of Halloween in this short film," says Axelle on The Halloween Kid website. "Sweetness and spookiness, golden colors and dark shadows…" She continues, "I’d never thought of it as a children’s film while we were making it,...

Downton Abbey became a worldwide television hit before I even had some basic grasp on the thing, so, of course, you know how these things work: the show gets big, a lead in said show does a few movies, and they eventually break away from their launching point to pursue a career in the better medium. It’s probably too early to say if that will happen with Hugh Bonneville, but a film is in his future.
As ScreenDaily (via ThePlaylist) reports, the actor will take to the big screen to lead Dead Simple, an adaptation of Peter James‘ crime novel that Daniel Eckhart will script. The story, as described by ScreenDaily, is a “race-against-time thriller about a bridegroom buried alive after a stag night prank goes wrong[;] Roy Grace must find this living coffin while coping with the mysterious disappearance of his wife.”
The material’s been a hot item for some time,...

Hugh Bonneville, better known as Downton Abbey’s Earl of Grantham, has just landed a rare leading man role in a big screen movie. Screen Daily reports that Bonneville will play detective Roy Grace in Dead Simple, an adaptation of one of Peter James‘ crime books based on the popular Brighton-based hero.
The ticking clock thriller finds Grace investigating four gruesome murders linked to a groom who has been buried alive somewhere on the eve of his wedding day. It’s the fifth book in the Grace series but one that could potentially kick-start a franchise about the quirky detective who is solving murders whilst trying to overcome the pain of losing his wife.
James has become a huge best-selling author in the UK where he is outselling Jeffrey Deaver and James Patterson right now, but he has a background in film after working as a film producer and financier...
