When The Flash arrived on the CW, it was pitched as the anti-Arrow, a feel-good series about the joy of being a superhero. After all, the title character (Grant Gustin) was wearing a crimson and yellow suit; hard to be moody in that.
As with all CW superhero series, it was quickly over-populated with too many powered supporting players, frequently taking the focus off the hero. It also grew too reliant on speedsters, the Speed Force, and time travel, so a sameness was infused throughout each successive season. There was every reason to believe this was to be the final season, so it was plotted as such. They could have done better. Much better.

DC’s FanDome event was a big success. Everyone is talking about new trailers for Wonder Woman 1984, Zack Snyder’s Justice League and The Batman, on top of cool new video game announcements and a ton of other reveals. Arrowverse fans weren’t left out in the cold, either, as they got their first look at season 7 of The Flash, showing us the team working out how to rescue Iris from the Mirrorverse.
Beyond that, the seventh season looks to be a product of circumstances. First up, due to Covid-19-related complications, the sixth run wrapped up early, meaning the first few episodes of season 7 will be a reworked finale that we didn’t get this year.
Also, Hartley Sawyer, who played Ralph Dibny/the Elongated Man, was fired from the show after a load of weird sexually violent comments on social media were unearthed where he talked about kidnapping homeless women,...

Hartley Sawyer’s sudden firing from The Flash couldn’t have come at a more inconvenient time for the show, which was in the midst of a major new storyline for Ralph Dibny when season 6 wrapped up. Sue Dearbon, as played by Natalie Dreyfuss, had just been introduced, beginning the classic comic book romance between the Elongated Man and his future wife.
While speaking to Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Eric Wallace confirmed that Ralph will be written out of the series following Sawyer’s exit. However, fans don’t need to worry about Sue as she’ll continue to have a recurring presence in season 7. Wallace admitted it was a bit of a challenge to come up with a way for her to return without Ralph, but he’s happy with what the writers have devised.

The Arrowverse fan community was left shaken yesterday when it was announced that Hartley Sawyer has been fired from The Flash effective immediately following the resurfacing of a number of offensive tweets of a racist or misogynistic nature posted from 2012-2014. There hasn’t been widespread comments on the situation from his co-stars, but the Scarlet Speedster himself, Grant Gustin, has responded to the news on Instagram.
Gustin shared showrunner Eric Wallace’s statement condemning Sawyer’s tweets, adding his own support for the decision. “I don’t have much to add as Eric’s thoughts are stated so eloquently and powerfully,” the actor wrote in his caption. “I will say I was shocked, saddened and angry when I saw the tweets. Words matter.”

The Flash may not be back for a long time, due to its pandemic-pushed production schedule, but it now appears that it will do so without a fan-favorite character, Ralph Dibny, a.k.a. Elongated Man, after some recently-unearthed tweets by the actor who portrays him, Hartley Sawyer, retroactively stretched his foot into his mouth.
The CW has officially fired Sawyer from his series regular role on The Flash, reports THR. The move occurs after attention was recently called to the tweets in question, made from 2012 to 2014, which—due to their sheer volume—tick quite the array of offensive boxes, with some racist, misogynistic and all-around sexually-crude attempts at humor. After the tweets resurfaced, Sawyer issued an apology, which he posted on his Instagram, seeing as his Twitter appears to have been—quite understandably—deleted. However, it was apparently not enough for the network.

Almost three full seasons after Ralph Dibny arrived on The Flash, his future love interest Sue Dearbon finally set foot in Central City. And though her arrival was certainly long-anticipated, her presence has proven more than worth the wait.
This version of Sue is everything we could ever have asked for, bringing a fresh pop of energy to the canvas and instantly charming both Ralph and viewers everywhere. More importantly, it’s been apparent from the start that Sue’s narrative arc is destined to be something much meatier and more compelling than her comics story which, much as it pains me to admit it, generally just required her to love Ralph and die violently.
The Flash’s version of this character has a story and an agenda of her own, none of which is erased or lessened by her obvious (and fairly adorable) connection with Ralph. Everyone wins!

Well, “Success is Assured” wasn’t exactly supposed to be The Flash season finale this year, but then the coronavirus stepped in and decided that we only needed 19 episodes this year instead of the customary 22. It’s not an ideal situation by any means, especially since the most recent episode, “Pay the Piper” still leaves so much story to be told that it’s almost impossible to imagine how all of this season’s threads can be wrapped up in “Success is Assured.” Still, this has been the strongest season of The Flash in years, and even with the necessity of a shortened season and an early season finale, the stakes are plenty high for Team Flash.
Here’s the official synopsis for “Success is Assured” which promises an episode focused on both Iris West and the Sue Dearbon.
“Barry (Grant Gustin) considers a risky plan to save Iris (Candice Patton) from the Mirrorverse.

The Flash season 6 is wrapping up in just two weeks’ time. Yep, that will mark only its nineteenth episode, but that’s the way it has to go, given that the Covid-19 pandemic has shut down production. Thankfully, it sounds like episode 6×19 “Success is Assured” will be a pretty fitting place to end the run, as it’ll see Barry’s efforts to save wife Iris from the Mirrorverse come to a head. But is the title giving away the ending, or will there be a twist in the tale?
In the last couple of episodes, Barry finally realized the terrible truth – that he’s been living with an evil mirror copy of his wife for the past few months – and attempted to free the real Iris. Unfortunately, it didn’t work and Eva McCulloch Aka the new Mirror Master escaped her confines instead. That means Iris, as well as...

The Flash, as with the other Arrowverse shows, has had to take a month’s break due to the coronavirus pandemic affecting production. However, it will soon return to our screens for the 16th episode of season 6, titled “So Long and Goodnight.” As well as being the one to finally supply us with that Scarlet Speedster content we’ve been craving, the episode is also notable for featuring the return of two familiar characters.
As you can see in the promo images in the gallery below, both Sue Dearbon and Rag Doll will be back for the next installment of the show. Natalie Dreyfuss’ Sue was first introduced in episode 6×12 “A Girl Named Sue,” where she and Ralph quickly formed a bond – even though it turned out she had double-crossed him. No doubt sparks will fly when the pair reunite.

Considering that Barry Allen is the fastest man alive, he sure has been slow in returning to our TV screens with new episodes, right? To be fair, unlike nearly everything else that happens on the show, the ongoing delay with The Flash isn’t actually Barry’s fault, but a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic which has affected every corner of the economy, from “non-essential” businesses to TV productions. Which, to be fair, in the grand scheme of things, even Den of Geek has to admit is “non-essential.” Whew, that got dark.
Like the rest of the TV production slate, The Flash had to press pause on filming and post-production for a while last month as the seriousness of the pandemic began to take hold. And while there were still a number of episodes that had been filmed, it also slowed down post-production, which led to several upcoming episodes...

With production on scripted series grinding to a halt, The CW is the first network to postpone original episodes of some of its most popular series.
DC's Legends of Tomorrow will no longer air original episodes on March 24 and March 31 as planned, while The Flash will forego a new episode on March 31.
DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 Episode 8 was set to focus on Sara, Constantine, and Charlie in British Columbia.

Zari (Tala Ashe) has been having trouble feeling like herself, so she goes on meditative journey at the suggestion of Behrad (guest star Shayan Sobhian). Meanwhile, Ava (Jes Macallan) volunteers to try and help Rory (Dominic Purcell) with a personal problem.

News broke late last week that every CW scripted drama currently filming had temporarily shut down production over coronavirus concerns. At the time, we wondered when this might begin affecting the scheduled airings of upcoming episodes, and it appears that it might be sooner than we anticipated as both Legends of Tomorrow and The Flash have rescheduled upcoming episodes. While no reason was given for the schedule change, and the episodes in question had long ago finished their principal photography, it’s possible that the ripple effect of the production shutdowns have affected the post-production schedules of these special effects heavy shows.
The first one affected is Legends of Tomorrow, which has temporarily removed two episodes from the schedule. Legends of Tomorrow season 5 episode 8, “Zari, not Zari” was scheduled to air on March 24. It has been replaced with a re-run of “A-head of Her Time.”

The Flash Season 6 Episode 12
Look, any The Flash episode that even vaguely name-checks a Shel Silverstein poem/Johnny Cash song in its title is going to be automatically a hit with me, and that’s before it goes and pays off one of the show’s longest-running plot points.
After months of waiting, Sue Dearbon finally arrives in Central City in “A Girl Named Sue”, and it’s basically everything we wanted it to be. Which, let’s be clear, isn’t something that was all guaranteed. The Flash, bless it, isn’t a show that’s always done the best job at paying off some of its longer-running stories. It hasn’t always done right by its female characters.

Ever since Hartley Sawyer’s Ralph Dibny debuted on The Flash back in season 4, fans knew he was destined to meet his wife and partner in crime-solving on the show at some point. Season 5 ended with a tease that the future Mrs. Dibny was on the way and now, after Ralph has spent all season looking for her as part of a missing person’s case, Sue Dearborn is making her debut, in the suitably-titled “A Girl Named Sue.”
Ahead of the episode’s arrival next week, you can now catch your first look at Natalie Dreyfuss as Sue in the gallery below. “A Girl Named Sue” will also introduce another key character, though. Grief unleashes self-centered bluster instead of contemplative sorrow in the talky drama Childless. Four relatives preparing to attend a funeral focus less on the sudden death of sixteen-year-old Katherine (Natalie Dreyfuss) and more on relationship anxieties. Mary (Diane Venora) envisions an awkward reunion with ex-boyfriend Richard (Joe Mantegna), Katherine's stunned father, while his sister Natalie (Barbara Hershey) contemplates her future with distant husband Harvey (James Naughton). Writer-director Charlie Levi airs their musings as a series of monologues, and even Katherine gets in on the act. With a surprising lightness, Dreyfuss plays her as a blithe spirit free from earthly worries, unlike the exasperating adults fixated on their own concerns. Na...
