- Arnold Drake was born on March 1, 1924 in New York City, New York, USA. He was a writer and actor, known for The Flesh Eaters (1964), Young Justice (2010) and Doom Patrol (2019). He died on March 12, 2007 in New York City, New York, USA.
- Began writing comics in the 1940s and worked for major publishers throughout his career. He also wrote one of the first graphic novels "It Rhymes with Lust" in 1950.
- Comic book writer and co-creator of "The Doom Patrol" and "Deadman" for "Strange Adventures" for DC Comics. These creations were consciously designed to emulate Marvel Comics' innovative character-based storytelling style for superheroes, which Drake had warned DC's management would make the small rival publisher a major force in the business. Unfortunately for DC, the management scoffed at Drake's warning and was subsequently forced to play catch-up to Marvel in later years.
- Interviewed in Tom Weaver's McFarland books "Eye on Science Fiction" (about The Flesh Eaters (1964)) and "A Sci-Fi Swarm and Horror Horde" (about 50,000 B.C. (Before Clothing) (1963)).
- Created (with Gene Colan) the original version of Guardians of the Galaxy in 1969 (first published in Marvel Super-Heroes #18).
