Just when you think the found footage boat has officially set sail, another flick comes along that reminds you why this sub-genre can be awesome. Derek Lee and Clif Prowse's truly killer vampire flick Afflicted (review) is just such a film, and we recently spoke with them about it!
The thing about a good found footage movie, first and foremost, is that it has to feel real. Once a false note is hit, the illusion is broken and the experience is ruined. We asked the duo how they approached this fact.
"For us it was about never breaking the illusion," says Lee. "If we managed to sell over the top in the found footage genre and people bought it? That is super gratifying. We were so hard on our selves to not break it. That final fight scene of the film, we would have way preferred to shoot that scene traditionally!

Lured by British Columbia’s enticing 58% tax incentives, Sony Pictures Imageworks is relocating its headquarters from Los Angeles to Vancouver.
The company is moving into a new facility that is capable of accommodating up to 700 employees, leaving a question mark over the fate of the 250-plus employees at the current hub in Culver City.
Jason Dowdeswell will continue to lead Sony Pictures Imageworks’ operations in Vancouver as vp of production operations, while Mark Breakspear joins as visual effects supervisor and Shauna Bryan as vp of new business and production executive. Both arrive from similar roles at Method Studios in Vancouver.
The production office opened in Vancouver in 2010 with a staff of 80 artists and recently worked on Warner Bros’ imminent sci-fi release Edge Of Tomorrow starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, as well as The Amazing Spider-Man 2, when staffing levels climbed to 350.
