Kevin Grevioux, who created the “Underworld” franchise, and wrote and directed “King of Killers,” will direct action-adventure film “Shurika.”
The film will go into production later this year and rights are being pre-sold by Reiko Bradley’s Eclipse Intl. at the European Film Market, which accompanies the Berlin Film Festival.
The film is adapted by Grevioux from a graphic novel published by his Darkstorm Comics & Media company, about a biracial Black Japanese woman. She had been hidden from her Yakuza grandfather by her mother after he had her African American husband killed because of their taboo relationship. Years later, while trying to find her birth mother, the woman finds herself caught in a conflict between the ninja clan who raised her and the Japanese underworld.

This time round the group is joined by Ufc Fighter-turned action star Cung Le (from the awesome Dragon Eyes) and one of my favourite female stars working in Hollywood today, Briana Evigan.
The film tells the story of soldier John Nguyen, who returns home from a traumatic tour of duty in Iraq struggling with Ptsd. What little peace he had managed to build around him is shattered one fateful day when he rescues a local call girl from a group of violent pimps, killing one and severely injuring the other.

If you did a double-take when you first heard that Ethan Hawke and Selena Gomez were in a movie together, or raised your eyebrows when you then heard that the Getaway movie wasn’t about something involving angst-riddled teens and heart-wrenching drama… and, if you thought a selection of new images would clue you in to something beyond cars, explosions, and moody pictures of Hawke and Gomez very near each other… well, frankly, I’ve lost my train of thought.
However it all works out, this Getaway movie looks fantastic. There’s probably a really good reason that Gomez’ character has a custom Ford Shelby GT500 Super Snake for Hawke to steal, but… no, I’m kidding.
Still, it may be fun. Have a look at some hot new images, and get ready to choke on everything you ever said about Selena Gomez’ acting ability.

Still, it may be fun. Have a look at some hot new images, and get ready to choke on everything you ever said about Selena Gomez’ acting ability.

You can't Getaway from these new images from the Courtney Solomon action thriller. The Warner Bros. release, which we had the pleasure of interviewing Mr. Solomon for at the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con, opens on August 30th, and looks like a rivetting ride. On board are Ethan Hawke, Selena Gomez, Jon Voight, Paul Freeman, Bruce Payne and Rebecca Budig. Sean Finegan and Gregg Maxwell Parker wrote the script for the film produced by Moshe Diamant, Christopher Milburn, Courtney Solomon and Allan Zeman. In Getaway, Ethan Hawke plays Brent Magna, a burned out race car driver who is thrust into a do-or-die mission behind the wheel when his wife is kidnapped. With Brent's only ally a young hacker (Selena Gomez), his one hope of saving his wife is to follow the orders of the mysterious voice (Jon Voight) who's watching his every move through cameras mounted on the car Brent's driving.

Well here it is. After hinting at some of the films on Twitter and promising that this will be unlike any top ten you see this year, I’ve finally compiled my Top 10 films of 2012. However, I originally compiled my list before seeing Pitch Perfect, which I felt Had to be included in this list; therefore my choices for ninth and tenth film on the list now share tenth place.
I’ve also included a hell of a lot of honorable mentions (enough to take this up to a Top 25 if I had included them all), three of which are short films. Three short films which happen to be the best I’ve seen in years and give some of the feature-length films released this year a run for their money. Consider everything on this list a recommendation of the highest order…

Today, The Expendables 2 comes crashing into movie theaters across the country like a tank. With its Herculean roster of action legends, one name you might not yet recognize on the poster is that of Scott Adkins. We must stress, the “yet.” Adkins is currently fighting his way, literally, up the action cinema food chain. He appeared in such films as Ninja and The Bourne Ultimatum. He wowed many of us with his turn as vicious prisoner brawler Yuri Boyka in the Undisputed franchise. In Undisputed III: Redemption, he held his own with Mirageman himself, Marko Zaror. In addition to The Expendables 2, Adkins will again star alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren in Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning, the “fourth” film in the franchise that was just announced as part of the second wave of this year’s Fantastic Fest. Not one to slow down, Adkins also stars in the action movie El Gringo, which...

Horror fans can rejoice this week as a slew of horror films that were submitted to the MPAA all got an R rating from the MPAA. No battles over an Nc-17 rating and this batch of films is clearly not meant for the PG-13 crowd either. Husk is rated R for horror violence and language. Stag Night (aka Stag Night of the Dead) is rated R for strong bloody violence, language and brief sexual content. The Trap Door is rated R for language, violent grisly images and brief sexuality.
Here is what info is known about each of these films:
Husk appears to be part of After Dark Films "Originals" lineup. The cast includes Devon Graye, Wes Chatham, C.J. Thomason, Tammin Sursok and Ben Easter. The crew is made up of Brett Simmons - Director / Writer (story) (screenplay), Stephanie Caleb - Producer, Limor Diamant - Producer, Moshe Diamant - Producer,...

Special effects and makeup house Drac Studios is segueing into motion picture producing, opening up Drac Studios Louisiana and going into preproduction on its first live-action feature, "Dead in the Water."
Si Dunn wrote the script, which will be directed by Rob Walker and produced by Drac president Harvey Lowry.
"With all of the indie and studio films being shot in Louisiana, it was an easy decision to open a facility in the state," Lowry said. "Now we can offer other producers the Louisiana tax incentives for our special effects and makeup effects as well as take advantage of them ourselves for our own productions."
The company is leasing space in Baton Rouge's Raleigh Studios Celtic Media Center.
The creative team behind Drac -- Lowry, Todd Tucker and Ron Halvas, with creative direction by Greg Cannom -- has won Oscars for "Bram Stoker's Dracula," "Mrs. Doubtfire" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button...

Bruce Willis is firing back at producers who named the star in a $4 million breach of contract lawsuit last week by filing a lawsuit of his own. Foresight Unlimited producers Moshe Diamant and Mark Damon claim that Willis walked off their production of Three Stories About Joan, which would have marked his directorial debut. He was also a co-star in the film and, according to the first lawsuit, Willis just quit the production last September.
Willis now says that the producers lied to him about the financing for the film, which had a projected budget of $20 million, according to Foresight. On top of that, the budding actor-director says, but he was never paid for the time he did spend on the set, roughly $200,000.

Bruce Willis has filed a a multi-million-dollar countersuit against the movie executives who accused him of walking off the set of a movie he was to direct.
Last month, Foresight Unlimited producers Moshe Diamant and Mark Damon filed suit against the Die Hard star, claiming he quit their film "Three Stories About Joan."
Seeking $4 million (£2.85 million) in damages, the Foresight bosses stated Willis quit their $20 million (£14.2 million) production without explanation in September.
But the movie star has hit back, accusing the producers of fraud for allegedly lying to him about financing for the project.
Willis is asking for punitive damages for fraud and breach of contract, among other allegations.

If there's one thing you learn by watching Bruce Willis movies, it's you don't mess with Bruce Willis. Same applies offscreen. Following through on his threat, the Die Hard star has filed a multimillion-dollar countersuit against a film company that sued him for allegedly walking off the set of a movie he was set to direct last fall. The complaint, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, accuses producers Moshe Diamant, Mark Damon and their Foresight Unlimited company of fraud for falsely representing that they had complete financing for 3 Stories About Joan when, per Willis, they had failed to deposit the money in escrow when cameras started rolling. "Die Hard" star Bruce Willis will be expanding his career by making his directorial debut in the independent film "Three Stories About Joan."
The actor recently launched his own production company called Willis Brothers Films with Stephen Eads and his brother, David Willis. Moshe Diamant, who produced "The Black Dahlia," and Mark Damon, who produced "Monster," will partner with the company to produce the film.
The film is about a young woman who is faced with tragedies at three different times in her life and the tragedies that cause her to lose her grip on reality. "10,000 BC" star Camilla Belle has been tapped to play the character. Kieran Culkin has also been cast for the film.
Along with directing the psychological drama, Willis will also make a cameo appearance as Belle's father in the movie.

It seems that, despite his sixty-three years, Michael Douglas still has a penchant for roles where he gets to go horizontal. Variety reports that Millennium Films has set Douglas to play a car magnate with a runaway libido in “Solitary Man.” Susan Sarandon, Danny DeVito and Jenna Fischer are in talks to co-star. Brian Koppelman and David Levien are directing a script written by Koppelman. Production begins in November in New York. Douglas plays a former owner of a car dealership chain whose career and marriage were destroyed by his business and romantic indiscretions. Paul Schiff and Steven Soderbergh are producing. Avi Lerner, Danny Dimbort, Trevor Short, Moshe Diamant and Joe Gatta are executive producers. Koppelman and Levien previously directed “Knockaround Guys” and the 2005 TV series “Tilt." Koppelman and Levien wrote Soderbergh’s next film, “The Girlfriend Experience.” Douglas will topline a Liberace film that Soderbergh is developing to direct at Warner Bros.
