“Like alien egg sacs”
Free diver and filmmaker Patrick Dykstra goes in search of “some of the world’s most enigmatic creatures” in the Discovery+ documentary series “Chasing Ocean Giants.” Watch an exclusive preview from the series above.
The eight-episode series follows Dykstra as he documents the behavior of whales around the world, “from Arctic Bowheads going head-to-head with killer whales in Russia, to night singing humpbacks in Colombia.”
In the clip from the premiere episode, Dykstra travels to the Caribbean island of Dominica to examine the behavior of sperm whales and encounters a pod of whales taking an eerily vertical “power nap.” According to Dykstra, the reason sperm whales look like “alien egg sacs” while they sleep remains unknown.

Animal Planet has ended the 15-year run of Tanked, but claims the ending came naturally and is not related to a recent domestic disturbance involving a host.
“After 15 fantastic seasons, the series came to a natural end late last year,” confirmed Paul Schur, the VP communications/media relations at Animal Planet.
The team from Las Vegas’s Acrylic Tank Manufacturing was the focus of the show, which spotlighted exotic, unusual, colorful and dangerous fish in captivity via elaborate aquariums.
Wayde King and Brett Raymer were the co-hosts, tasked with building the enormous tanks and aquariums for top celebrities, luxury hotels and casinos, and other outlets. Atm builds more than 200 projects each year, according to its website, with tanks ranging from 50 to one million gallons in size.
King and wife Heather were involved in a domestic violence dispute earlier this month, with Heather arrested. She has since filed for divorce.

Everyone's favorite crime-fighting team is coming back for a seventh season. "Psych" has been renewed, announced stars James Roday and Dule Hill Tuesday (Jan. 10) on Facebook, via a lovely pineapple puzzle and hilarious video.
Roday is also looking for a new belt. He says, "Yeah, it's me, it's Roday. It's so big I didn't want you to hear it from anyone but me. And that includes Pat Dempsey ... I have decided to get a new belt ... Oh, almost forgot. 'Psych' picked up for a seventh season."
Hill adds, "'Psych' is coming back for season 7. Whaaat?! You know that's right. Seven seasons, that's what I'm talkin' about."
We can't wait. We hope the "Clue" episode, if it does not appear in the remainder of Season 6, is in the works for Season 7. What other episodes would you Psych-Os like to see?...
