Us and Them… Sums up the current state of the scocio-political climate perfectly don’t you think? The haves and the have-nots. The rich and the poor. It’s a class war that has been raging for longer than many can remember and one that won’t be ending anytime soon. And that idea of a class war, the struggle between rich and poor, seems to be what writer/director Joe Martin is aiming for with this, his first feature film. Only he does it by way of a home invasion thriller!
The film tells the story of three rough and ready British lads, intent on making a grand and brutish statement on economic inequality in the UK, use one upper crust family as their sacrificial lamb.

Director: Jon Wright. Writer: Kevin Lehane. Cast: Richard Coyle, Ruth Bradley, Russell Tovey, Lalor Roddy, David Pearse, Bronagh Gallagher, Pascal Scott, Clelia Murphy, Louis Dempsey and Micheál O'Gruagain. Grabbers is a creature feature from Ireland. But, the film is more than that. Grabbers blends genres, while creating one of the better love stories onscreen. This title, from Belfast born director Jon Wright, utilizes some great creature effects. And, the film has a subtle charm, which comes through strongest in Trevor Forest's cinematography. Grabbers is a memorable film. The film borrows its story from classic b-movies of the '50s. An alien creature has washed up on the Irish shores of Donegal. This monster is hungry. it sets its sights on the local Irish populace. Those under attack quickly learn that the creature is allergic to alcohol. Then, the defenders begin to drink copious amounts of liquor, to the monster's detriment and to the viewer's enjoyment.

New British comedy horror 'Grabbers' premiered at the Sundance festival yesterday and hopefully everyone who managed to get in thoroughly enjoyed the Jon Wright helmed project. Twitch Film managed to score an exclusive clip from the movie which features stars Richard Coyle ('Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time'), Russell Tovey ('Being Human') and Ruth Bradley ('Primeval'). Sadly the clip doesn't reveal anything of the 'tentacled aliens'. If you didn't already know the action takes place on an island off the coast of Ireland that is invaded by bloodsucking aliens. And the only way to survive? To get drunk!! That's right, all the locals have to get totally wasted in order to fend of these bloodsuckers. Sounds like one hell of a plan, or excuse. Bronagh Gallagher, Ned Dennehy, Stuart Graham, Lalor Roddy, Jonathan Ryan, Barbara Adair, Louis Dempsey and David Pearse also star.
