As befits its title, “Assassin Club,” begins with an elaborate action-heavy murder. Throughout the almost two hours it takes to unfold, the audience witnesses a few more. These intrigues unfold in a few European locales, though the locations are hardly striking, just places where the illusion of globetrotting can be created on a budget. It’s a B-movie through and through, yet one made with panache and attention to the action scenes. Director Camille Delamarre choreographs and shoots combat set-pieces in an exciting manner.
Henry Golding plays a master hitman whose latest mission is to find and kill six other assassins — the “club” of the title, though only one of his marks really matters. What transpires is more of a cat-and-mouse game between Golding’s killer and another one played by Noomi Rapace. Sam Neill lurks in the background and on the phone as Golding’s handler, who assigns the...

Henry Golding and Noomi Rapace headline this hitman mystery thriller from director Camille Delamarre. Sadly, Assassin Club isn’t going to do either of them any favours and the only mystery about it is how it got made in the first place.
Golding plays Morgan, one of those international assassins who’s quite happy to murder for a living, as long as his targets are certifiable bad guys like drug lords or sex traffickers. He receives his orders from Caldwell (Sam Neill), his handler-slash-mentor, and otherwise enjoys a quiet life with his girlfriend Sophie (Daniela Melchior), a primary school teacher who remains blissfully ignorant of his extra-curricular activities. However, all that changes when Morgan accepts a contract to take out seven international assassins, only to discover...

Also out this weekend: Sony has anime fantasy ’Suzume’ and Paramount action thriller ‘Assassin Club’.
After a lively weekend for new releases at the UK-Ireland box office over the Easter bank holiday, this session is looking a little calmer, with Universal’s Super Mario Bros: The Movie likely to keep its spot at the top.
The widest new release to take the plunge this weekend is Universal’s Renfield, playing at 605 sites. Chris McKay’s action-comedy take on Bram Stoker’s Dracula is set in modern day New Orleans, with Nicolas Cage as the famous bloodsucker, and Nicholas Hault as his long-suffering familiar,...

Our nice-guy killer is entered into a hitpersons’ Champions League, destined to fulfil functional combat scenes and voice the most leaden dialogue ever transmitted in Dolby surround
Some films don’t globetrot so much as globelurch, steered by creatives going wild on Expedia after a heavy night on the Kestrel. Pinging haphazardly and often nonsensically around central and eastern Europe, this trashy runaround sees French action specialist Camille Delamarre emerging from sometime mentor Luc Besson’s shadow, for better or worse. Liberated from Besson’s more questionable fetishes but also untethered from a healthy line of credit, the result never rises above generic multiplex filler. Everyone is travelling economy, with a tatty script stuffed way down, out of shame, in their carry-on luggage.
After doing for an assailant who attacks him and his schoolmarm girlfriend, nice-guy assassin Morgan (Henry Golding) learns he’s been unknowingly entered in effectively a hitpersons’ Champions League.

Exclusive: Paramount has quietly struck a deal for completed action-thriller Assassin Club, starring Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians), Noomi Rapace (Prometheus), Sam Neill (Jurassic Park) and Suicide Squad breakout Daniela Melchior.
Via a multi-million dollar deal struck in previous months, Paramount took worldwide rights excluding Middle East, Spain, France and Eastern Europe (which have been sold to other distributors). The Italian release on 77 screens took place this month and we understand a UK theatrical release is being lined up for March. U.S. release date hasn’t been set.
The movie follows an assassin (Golding) who is given a contract to kill seven people around the world only to discover the targets are also assassins who have been hired to kill him.
EuropaCorp veteran Camille Delamarre (Transporter: Refueled) directed the movie, which shot in Italy last year.
The project is produced and financed by sales firm Film Bridge International, which struck the deal with Paramount,...

For a while, Hollywood flirted with Parkour as a way to spice up action scenes. The most notable example was in 2006's "Casino Royale" when Daniel Craig's Bond pursued freerunner Sébastien Foucan across the Madagascar landscape, up a large crane and down again, and into an embassy which he promptly blew up. It was quite the sequence, and the first to significantly showcase freerunning (Parkour's cousin) in a major Hollywood blockbuster.
Parkour became increasingly popular in North America during the first decade of the 2000s, becoming somewhat of an internet sensation and occasionally cropping up in mainstream culture. By 2009, even the staff over at Dunder Mifflin were getting in on the action. "The Office" started its sixth season with a now fondly-remembered, infinitely-memed cold open that saw Michael, Dwight, and Andy attempting some highly questionable Parkour moves around the office.
But prior to Hollywood's tentative love affair with Parkour,...

Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians) has signed on for a role in the drama Downtown Owl, from Sony Pictures’ Stage 6 Films, Deadline can confirmed. He’s set to star alongside previously announced cast members including Ed Harris, Vanessa Hudgens, Finn Wittrock, Jack Dylan Grazer, August Blanco Rosenstein and Lily Rabe.
The feature directorial debut of Rabe and Hamish Linklater is based on Chuck Klosterman’s New York Times bestselling novel of the same name. It’s set somewhere in rural North Dakota in 1983, in the fictional town called Owl. There, you won’t find cable or pop culture, but you will find a downtown with a first-rate Chevrolet dealership, three bars and a new high school English teacher whose presence upends the lives of locals, just in time for a white-out blizzard for the ages.
Linklater wrote the script for the project, which was part of the Sundance Institute Creative Producing Summit and Talent Forum.

Action veteran Jason Statham may have ducked out of a role in Camille Delamarre’s franchise revival of the Transporter series, allowing newcomer Ed Skrein to take point at the head of the balls-to-the-wall – and ultimately disappointing – actioner. But for Mechanic: Resurrection, the British actor returns as Arthur Bishop with today’s first image teasing trouble in paradise.
Also on board for Resurrection is Jessica Alba, and we understand that the movie filmed on location in Bangkok, Thailand. Barrelling down on a late summer release date, Summit Entertainment’s sequel/reboot/revival sees Statham back in the role of “the Mechanic when someone from his past forces him back into the business. Bishop has to complete an impossible list of assassinations of the most dangerous men in the world.”
As far as synopses go, that’s about as vague and generic as you’ll see for an upcoming action movie,...

Directed by Olivier Megaton
France, 2008
Following another three year hiatus during which time star Jason Statham saw his international stardom continue to grow with a series of adrenaline fueled action vehicles, series caretakers Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen were at it again for a third Transporter film, this time returning protagonist Frank Martin (Statham) to his European roots following a pit stop in Miami for part 2. The former army man, now self-employed driver, is back in France, where he enjoys pleasant fishing expeditions with Inspector Tarconi. His relaxing time off is brutally disturbed one night when a car crashes into his living room, driven by an accomplice of his that Frank himself vouched for not long ago for a contract. EuropaCorp USA released their new action movie, "The Transporter Refueled," into theaters today, September 4th, 2015, and all the top, major movie critics have turned in their reviews. It turns out that it didn't quite resonate too good with most of them, getting just an overall 31 score out of a possible 100 across 18 reviews at the Metacritic.com site. The film stars: Anatole Taubman, Ed Skrein, Gabriella Wright, Lenn Kudrjawizki, Loan Chabanol, Radivoje Bukvic, Ray Stevenson and Tatiana Pajkovic. We've provided blurbs from a few of the critics, below. Kyle Anderson from Entertainment Weekly, gave it a 67 grade. He stated: "It’s hard to deny the hedonistic joy in the way Delamarre plays with his various toys, and the goofball stunts—including the yacht-based finale, with a special appearance by a jet ski—are generally worth wandering through the dialogue desert." Andrew Barker over at Variety, gave it a 60 grade. He said:...

The Transporter franchise heads to the south of France in this weekend’s The Transporter Refueled. This time, Frank Martin’s “cargo,” if you will, is a femme fatale and her flunkies who are all up against the Russian mob.
Taking over the role of Frank, “The Transporter,” is Ed Skrein, an English rapper-turned-actor who you may recognize as “Game of Thrones”’ Daario Naharis (before season four when Skrein was mysteriously and unceremoniously replaced). Miss the O.G. Daario? Well, after Refueled, Skrein joins the Marvel Universe in February 2016 as the villain Ajax opposite Canada’s Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool!
The Transporter Refueled – in theatres now! – is again written and produced by Luc Besson (The Professional, Taken), and directed by Camille Delamarre (Brick Mansions). Delamarre also has history with the Transporterfranchise, as he was the editor on Transporter 2.

Ed Skrein takes over from Jason Statham in this lazy reboot of the franchise, with glibly efficient car chases and disastrous handbrake-on plotting
With Jason Statham having paid all dues, unrepentant wheeler-dealer Luc Besson here reboots his handy chauffeur franchise with a catalogue-model lead (Ed Skrein) and so much drooling placement for one German luxury car manufacturer you wonder why they didn’t sell ad space in the title.
Brick Mansions’ Camille Delamarre shapes the odd, glibly efficient chase sequence, but these are small bursts of acceleration amid disastrous, handbrake-on plotting that tangles Skrein with a gang of bum-wiggling sex workers. Only the ultra-impressionable will be thrilled: not a single blow in its posy, prop-dependent fight scenes looks as though it connected, let alone hurt. The Stath wouldn’t stand for such nonsense.

Newcomer Ed Skrein is Jason Statham - sorry, Frank Martin - in this reboot of Luc Besson's Transporter franchise. Full of the fights, fast cars and clunky one-liners fans have come to expect from a series that once saw its hero deflect a rocket with a tea tray*, it works on paper, but not in practice.
Transporter Refuelled's problems lie not in the joyful silliness of watching a muscular Uber driver elaborately dislocate goons' jaws, but in the Stathlessness of it all. Though intellectual property law might call "Frank Martin" a character that exists outside of The Stath™, it's the Guy Ritchie veteran's charm, confidence and world-weary delivery that somehow make Mr Martin special, and try as he might, Skrein can't keep up.
The plot doesn't help, but then the Transporter plots never helped anyone. Take any of the previous three films and the titular gruff punch merchant will...

Plot: Frank Martin, transporter of mysterious goods, finds himself entangled with a bevy of sexy ladies as they attempt to rip off their brutal pimp. Review: Watching The Transporter Refueled is like watching the longest car commercial in the world. In one of its very first scenes, director Camille Delamarre lovingly gives us about four different, loving angles of a parked Audi; ostensibly, we're taking a look... Read More...

There isn’t a single level on which this crass reboot operates that isn’t a disaster. There is all sorts of stupid at work here, and all sorts of offensive. I’m “biast” (pro): nothing
I’m “biast” (con): not a fan of the earlier films
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
There isn’t a single level on which this cheap, crass reboot/sequel/whatever-the-hell operates that isn’t a disaster. Often an embarrassing disaster. Very often a disaster so disgusting that, its endless 90-plus minutes later, I was in desperate need of a shower to get the ick off me.
The Jason Statham-as-a-badass-chauffeur action franchise was not demanding another installment; the first three films did only moderately well at the box office, and likely only off Statham’s popularity anyway. Yet here we are, Statham wisely nowhere in sight and his replacement,...

Stripped and chopped for parts, the Transporter trilogy could be reassembled into a single solid (and undoubtedly short) action movie. The first one had a fight scene where Jason Statham whirled around poles and through grease like a lethal Magic Mike; the second featured cinema’s first aerial undercarriage bomb disposal; the third contrived a reason to always keep Statham within 75 feet of the franchise’s real star, an Audi automobile. As a whole, however, the three movies were a shoddy refurbishing of American gearhead actioneers into Euro-thriller jalopies. Returning sans Statham, avec everything else, The Transporter: Refueled makes a poor case for rescuing this series from the scrapheap.

Frank Martin (played by newcomer Ed Skrein), a former special-ops mercenary, is now living a less perilous life – or so he thinks – transporting classified packages for questionable people. "It's time for revenge." If you're still not convinced this is going to be action spectacle of the summer, here's one more trailer to get you in the mood for mayhem. EuropaCorp has debuted another official trailer for The Transporter Refueled, the return of the Transporter franchise. Technically this is the 4th film in the series, following Jason Statham's trilogy. And technically this is the third trailer, even though they're calling it "trailer #2". Ed Skrein takes over and becomes the "Transporter" this time, driving a few special packages in nice cars all over Europe. I'm honestly not sure if this is going to be any good. We'll know soon. Here's the latest trailer for Camille Delamarre's The Transporter Refueled, from YouTube: You can still catch the last official trailer for The Transporter Refueled here, if you're interested. First announced at Cannes two years ago, Luc Besson and his EuropaCorp accomplices' Transporter reboot is now almost upon us. Ed Skrein (Ill Manors and, more recently, Deadpool's Ajax) takes over the driving seat from Jason Statham this time in The Transporter Refuelled, directed by Camille Delamarre (Brick Mansions). And here's the latest trailer, in which the unusually decent Audi driver hurts a number of fools and wrecks a number of vehicles, as is traditional and required. There's also a snazzy jump over a plane. We do love a good car jump.Should you be wondering, the re-casting of the main role has not also prompted the creation of a new character. This is not, we're to accept, a different transporter, but the very same Frank Martin (although we're possibly in prequel territory, which explains the hair). Martin is, you'll recall, the driver who never changes the deal and...

For many, Jason Statham’s hard-boiled Frank Martin is The Transporter, given that the British hard man injected the cult action series with a tenacity that saved it from mediocrity. Now that The Stath has moved on to pastures anew, there are a lot of understandable concerns looming over Camille Delamarre’s (Brick Mansions) reboot effort, though the latest trailer and action-packed clip are an effective one-two punch that prove that, above anything, The Transporter Refueled will retain the franchise’s boisterous action sensibilities.
Supplanting Statham in the lead role is newcomer Ed Skrein, who plays a slightly different version of Frank Martin. While enjoying a holiday with his old man in southern France, Frank’s idyllic downtime is unceremoniously upended by a femme fatale and her group of highly-trained, seductive associates, who together convince our protagonist to orchestrate one of the ambitious bank heists in history.

"No one is getting out of the car, now drive!" "Seatbelts – now!" EuropaCorp has debuted the new trailer for The Transporter Refueled, the return of the Transporter franchise. Technically this is the 4th film in the series, following Jason Statham's trilogy. "Game of Thrones" actor Ed Skrein takes over and becomes the "Transporter" this time, driving a few special packages in slick cars all across Europe. This very much feels like just another retread of the same material, throwing lots of stunts and action into a weird storyline about a driver. There's no Jason Statham, but there is a new Transporter movie. Something doesn't quite add up here...
There's something that seems inherently wrong to us in making a Transporter film that doesn't have the mighty Jason Statham on board. Nonetheless, the plan is in place for a new trilogy of films, telling the earlier stories of Frank Martin.
Stepping into The Statham's shoes is Ed Skrein, and he headlines The Transporter Refuelled, which arrives in cinemas from September 4th. This time, the film has been directed by Camille Delamarre (who helmed Brick Mansions, starring the late Paul Walker), and in the cast are also Ray Stevenson, Radivoje Bukvic and Anatole Tubman.

A new trailer for the upcoming reboot of the Transporter franchise, The Transporter Refueled, has been released. I'm not sure if Jason Statham said "No" to another film (that seems unlikely) or if Europacorp was merely interested in saving a little money on their leading man, but this time around it's Ed Skrein (Daario Naharis on "Game of Thrones") in the leading role and Brick Mansions helmer, Camille Delamarre, directing. They haven't changed the name of the lead character as Skrein will be playing Frank Martin, hired by Anna (Loan Chabanol) and her three sidekicks, only to realize he's been played. Anna and her cohorts have kidnapped Frank's father (Ray Stevenson) in order to coerce Frank into helping them take down a ruthless group of Russian human traffickers. Additional members of the cast include Lenn Kudrjawizki, Radivoje Bukvic, Gabriella Wright and Anatole Taubman The Transporter Refueled will release in theaters on Sept.

You’d be forgiven for thinking that Europa Corp. and 20th Century Fox would have called time on The Transporter series following the departure of hardboiled action veteran Jason Statham, but low and behold, seven years after the previous installment, an all-new trilogy beckons.
It’s one that will rev into action later this year with The Transporter Refueled, which ushers franchise newcomer Ed Skrein into the title role. Best known for his work on The Tunnel and Ill Manors, along with a part in next year’s Deadpool, the actor will get behind the wheel for Camille Delamarre’s soft reboot – one which seemingly retains the globe-trotting heist action from the original trilogy.
Mind you, The Stath brought a considerable amount of gravitas to the role of Frank Martin, lending a palpable sense of charm to an otherwise generic set-up. It’s understood Refueled will kick Statham’s character to the kerb,...

No Statham? No problem. The Transporter Refuelled is speeding into view.
After an action-packed movie trilogy (and a TV series we'd rather not talk about), The Transporter franchise is switching things up by replacing Jason Statham with former Game of Thrones star Ed Skrein.
Scant details are available on the storyline, but expect this to be a clean reboot of the series with courier Frank Martin at the heart of the action.
Luc Besson is again on board to produce the movie with Brick Mansions director Camille Delamarre calling the shots.
The Transporter Refuelled will arrive in cinemas on September 4.

EuropaCorp has pushed back the U.S. release of "The Transporter Refueled" by two and a half months.
Originally slated for June 19th, the film will now open on the Labor Day holiday weekend of September 4th. The early Fall bow is more in line with the three previous films which also came out during that season.
Part of the reason for the delay is that it means the cast can give the film a bigger promotional push, something seen as quite necessary as it's hoped this will be the start of a new trilogy.
Ed Skrein, Loan Chabanol, Radivoje Bukvic, Gabriella Wright, Anatole Taubman and Tatiana Pajkovic star in the Camille Delamarre-directed film.

Here's the trailer for a Transporter movie that, er, doesn't seem to have Jason Statham in it.
We're still a long way from sold on the idea of The Transporter without Jason Statham, but, y'know, here we are.
The new film goes by the name of The Transporter Refueled (our spell checker - yep, we do own one somewhere - keeps wanting to add an extra 'l' there, but we've gone with the spelling the film's distributors use), and it sees Stath..., sorry Ed Skrein, star as Frank Martin. The idea here is that it'll kick start a new trilogy, and in this one, Frank is hired by a mysterious women. Things seem to get tits up quickly though, and lots of action ensures.

It’s only been six years since the original Transporter trilogy came to a close, but now, Luc Besson’s production outfit is reviving the franchise’s still-twitching corpse.
The Transporter Refueled (previously dubbed Legacy) is a cunning title that points toward its rebooty-ness. The film stars Game Of Thrones‘ Ed Skrein as another incredibly skilled transporter. If you hadn’t already guessed; Jason Statham isn’t back in the saddle, but his replacement is more than capable of steering this latest offering.
Camille Delamarre (Brick Mansions) directs this first in a new trilogy from a script by Bill Collage and Adam Cooper (Exodus: Gods and Kings). Wiping the slate clean of Statham’s character, Refueled follows Skrein’s transporter as he vows to take out a bunch of Russian human traffickers holding his father hostage. A Euro-centric actioner in every sense, this teaser highlights the movie’s exotic locales,...

Who is Ed Skreinc Well, you don't know him now, but he will be starring in the upcoming Deadpool movie alongside Ryan Reynolds. Before that, however, he's filling in for Jason Statham in The Transporter Refueled, the next installment in the Transporter series as they've decided to reboot (excuse me, refuel) the franchise. I guess it would have been too hard to pretend there could possibly be more than one person in this world that drives things from one place to another for the bad guys. Skrein plays the role of Frank Martin, hired by cunning femme fatale Anna (Loan Chabanol) and her three stunning sidekicks, he quickly discovers he's been played. Fueled by revenge, he will break all his rules and stop...

"People will always need guys like me, right?" Jason Statham is no longer The Transporter, and instead the franchise is going in a new direction with Ed Skrein as Frank Martin, the most skilled man in his dangerous profession, in The Transporter Refueled. Here's the first trailer for The Transporter Refueled, originally from Apple: The Transporter Refueled is directed by Camille Delamarre (Brick Mansions) and written by Bill Collage & Adam Cooper (Exodus: Gods & Kings, Tower Heist). This time, it's Ed Skrein ("Game of Thrones") inheriting the action franchise as Frank Martin,...
