The Forsyte Saga is returning to PBS and Masterpiece. The network has ordered a new series based on John Galsworthy's novels. A previous adaptation of the book series, starring Damian Lewis, Rupert Graves, Gina McKee, Corin Redgrave, and Ioan Gruffudd, aired on PBS in 2002 and ran for two seasons and 10 episodes. This new reimagining is being set up to have multiple seasons.
Francesca Annis, Jack Davenport, Tom Durant Pritchard, Jamie Flatters, Millie Gibson, Danny Griffin, Susan Hampshire, Owen Igiehon, Tuppence Middleton, Stephen Moyer, Joshua Orpin, Josette Simon, and Eleanor Tomlinson will star in this new telling of the Galworth’s work. The first season of six episodes will follow the Forsyte family as they live in 1880s London.

When I saw the first black-and-white still of Andrew Scott in and as “Ripley,” I was sold — and I know I’m not alone.
The 47-year-old actor might seem like an unexpected choice to step into the shoes of Tom Ripley, but for anyone following his career, it could not have been a more perfect casting or welcome treat. From the very first moments, Steve Zaillian’s “Ripley” is one of those projects that hinges entirely upon its lead actor, a vehicle for Mr. Ripley’s talents that buoys sharp direction, artistic choices, and lush cinematography in its wake.
As for casting the man last seen on TV as Hot Priest in the role of a known sociopath (though Scott and Zaillian dislike labeling their antihero), we must turn to Tumblr. With Instagram in its infancy and TikTok still years away, Twitter and Tumblr were the arenas for Andrew Scott...

The Talented Mr. Ripley novel has already been adapted countless times, but it will become a TV series for the first time later this year.
A series adaptation was announced to be in the works at Showtime several years ago, but we learned a year ago that Netflix had taken over the project.
It’s a good move because Netflix’s global reach has proven crucial to the success of shows in the past.
Even acquired shows are getting a second chance at life. Suits staged quite the comeback on the platform years after its cancellation and is now getting an LA-set spinoff.
Thanks to us fast approaching the Ripley Season 1 premiere on Netflix, details are starting to spill out.
Check out everything we know about Ripley Season 1.

The boss of Gary Lineker’s podcast company has described making a show in the U.S. as “the holy grail.”
Tony Pastor, who launched Goalhanger Podcasts with the Match of the Day host and BBC exec Jack Davenport four years ago, said the company is pondering how to forge a podcast “directed at an American audience, because it is such a big and mature market.”
“[The U.S. is] probably something like 25 times the size of the UK podcast market,” Pastor told journalists at a Broadcasting Press Guild event today alongside Lineker. “People in America drive a lot and there is a lot of podcast listening, so we would love to make something over there.”
Repped by WME, Goalhanger produces some of the biggest podcasts in the UK including the Rest is History, Rest is Politics and the Lineker-hosted Rest is Football.
The former has a solid listener base in the U.S.

Gary Lineker, host of popular BBC soccer highlights show “Match of the Day,” said Tuesday he didn’t feel constrained at the broadcaster when it came to expressing his point of view, despite the BBC’s social media guidelines.
Speaking at a Broadcasting Press Guild lunch, Lineker – who has attracted criticism for some of his Tweets on politics – said: “I don’t think I’m constrained. I think I’ve Tweeted now like I’ve always done: i.e. sensibly. I know the guidelines inside out, and the new guidelines actually allow you more freedom to Tweet. We’re allowed opinions on stuff.”
He added: “We know what it’s like with the BBC… that people will say we are biased this way or biased that way. But the truth is there are thousands of people who work there. It is an institution that has to try to be neutral...

Scroll below for all the interesting box office details!
Johnny was ousted from Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise after its fifth installment, and there remain numerous rumors about his exit. While some blame Amber Heard‘s domestic violence allegations that led to his boycott in Hollywood, others claim it was his unprofessional behavior that led to it. Depp would allegedly turn up drunk on sets and throw tantrums that would delay the shoot by hours. There, however, remains no confirmation on the same.

Julia Jackman’s feature debut about two teenagers with a shared passion for music is entertaining and sympathetic if a bit formulaic
Writer-director Julia Jackman is an award-winner for her short films and now makes her feature debut at the London film festival with this teen romcom, based on an idea co-authored by Josh O’Connor – who shows up in an amusing cameo playing a masked graffiti artist and part-time body piercer with a sub-Banksy reverence for his own anonymous glamour. It’s sweet-natured and engagingly laid-back, if a bit televisual and reliant on that time-honoured staple that dates from Richard Curtis’s Love Actually: the end-of-term school show in which a romantic declaration becomes an unscripted part of the programme.
The year is 2006 and, come to think of it, this is the second Lff movie set in 2006, after Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn; perhaps it will...

With the streaming bubble bursting and entertainment companies retooling their vision for the future of television, it seems like every new day yields a polarizing series cancellation. From viewership stats to marketing pitfalls and budgetary concerns, TV series are seeing the plug pulled at a seemingly faster rate than ever before — in some cases, after production has been completed and even before they’ve had a chance to air.
For example, after outcry over recently canned series like “1899,” “First Kill” and “Warrior Nun,” Netflix’s new co-ceos Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters said they have never canceled a “successful show.” Platforms like AMC, Starz, Showtime and HBO Max have pulled shows despite having the majority of filming finished or nearly done so. And for Hulu, journalists and audiences raised disappointment following the cancellation of “Reboot.”

Does money really make the world go round? Economics, business and finance have long been subjects we leave to the stockbrokers, hedge fund managers and business school professors who spend their lives obsessing over them - but there’s no reason we shouldn’t discuss ‘money’ in the same way we talk about sport and TV.

Are we stuck with higher inflation for years to come? Why are wealthy nations like Saudi Arabia buying up sport?
Talking about her new role, Steph says: “We’ve all been told that ‘money makes the world go round‘ but who is making it and how?...

This year’s first-round Primetime Emmy nominations ballot includes a total of 51 Best Limited Series hopefuls. This is down from 2022’s unusually high total of 61, yet still much higher than 2021’s 37, 2020’s 41, and 2019’s 35.
All 20,000 plus voting members of the TV academy have until June 26 to cast their 2023 Emmy Awards nominations ballots for programs. Unlike the Oscars, voters for the Emmys do not rank their choices and nominees are determined by a simple tally. After six years of not having to limit their choices in any categories, members’ selections can now not be greater than the number of eventual nominations for a given award, which, in this case, will be five.

It's been over a decade since NBC's "Smash" dug into all the behind-the-scenes grit it took to make its fictional Broadway musical "Bombshell" come to life. So it comes as no surprise that the cult-favorite series is making a comeback, not as a television revival, but as its own Broadway show!
Most details about the forthcoming stage production are still unknown, including who will star in the cast, but Steven Spielberg, Robert Greenblatt, and Neil Meron - all of whom produced the original "Smash" series - are on board as lead producers. Oscar winner Keith Carradine (The Power of the Dog), Emmy nominee Jason Ritter (Raising Dion), Betsy Brandt (Breaking Bad) and Wrenn Schmidt (Nope) have joined the cast of Fox’s upcoming anthology series Accused, based on the International Emmy-winning British series. The project comes from 24 executive producers Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa and House creator/executive producer David Shore.
Developed by Gordon and co-produced by Fox Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television, Accused is based on the BBC’s BAFTA-winning crime anthology. It opens in a courtroom on the accused, with viewers knowing nothing about their crime or how they ended up on trial. Told from the defendant’s point of view through flashbacks, Accused depicts how an ordinary person gets caught up in an extraordinary situation, ultimately revealing how one wrong turn leads to another, until it’s too late to turn back.
The series premieres Sunday, January 22, 2023 at 9 p.
