- Yann Samuell has come full circle and he is only three feature films into his filmmaking career. Samuell's first film, Love Me If You Dare trickled into several markets including the U.S. and made a name for the director. Starring Guillaume Canet and Marion Cotillard, Lmiyd featured love coming late in life in a flash-back mode going back and forth between adulthood and childhood with the two characters. Seems like his next directing gig will visit similar themes of regret. Samuell is set to start filming L'âge de Raison (“The Age of Reason”) next month with Sophie Marceau toplining the fantasy comedy. Also starring players Jonathan Zaccaï, Marton Csokas and Michel Duchaussoy, this centres on Margaret (Marceau), a career girl who on her 40th birthday, receives the visit from a provincial solicitor who sends her some old, forgotten letters she wrote to herself when she was seven, the age of reason. »

- With the exception of the young child, the family portrait is nearly complete. Screen Daily reports that Marton Csokas and Aden Young have been added to the small cast of Julie Bertuccelli's sophomore feature. Now going by the title of The Tree and being sold by Memento, the French-Aussie co-production is adapted from Judy Pascoe’s novel Our Father Who Art in a Tree and this tells the story of a family in mourning after the death of their father. It centres on 10-year-old Simone, who has recently lost her father and imagines him speaking to her from the top of the large tree in the family garden. Soon, her mother (Charlotte Gainsbourg) and brothers join in these nocturnal conversations, with the whole family perched on the tree-top, above the noise of the world and beneath the neighbours’ astonished gaze. I guess all that is left is the »

Here’s another panel I missed out on. In this case, it was on purpose. I didn’t feel like fighting the “Twilight” kids to get in to see this, which showed before the “New Moon” panel in Hall H. In any case, I suspect that much of the panel was full of “Twilight” fans waiting for their precious Edward, Jacob, and Bella that was coming up next, so I don’t know, I’m guessing this trailer showed well out of its target audience. But here it is anyway, the first teaser trailer for Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland”. The adventures of a young girl, Alice, who falls into a magical world full of strange characters and darkness behind every corner. I seem to recall a blurry snapped photo of Johnny Depp in this colourful get-up for Tim Burton‘s Alice in Wonderland production over at Disney from some time ago, but I cannot seem to locate them in our archives (probably those lawyers a-ceasin’ and a-desistin’!). The twist on this version (besides the hefty budget and 3D presentation) is the jump in Alice’s age to about 17 years old (*Update, I’ve since read that Alice is actually making a second trip back to Wonderland as an older girl). The mouse-house (trades-slang alert!) has some buffed-up and gloriously air-brushed promo shots from the upcoming 3D film of Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter Anne Hathaway and Mia Waskiwska (as The Mad Hatter, The Queen of Hearts, The White Queen, and Alice respectively). You can check them out in the gallery (after the Jump).
Worth noting is that the list of supporting »

Ciaran Hinds, Tom Wilkinson and Jessica Chastain are in John Madden’s Debt.
