Talked into a screen test by Columbia director
Charles Vidor and subsequently signed to a seven-year contract. Appeared as a gangling juvenile in several 1940's comedies, before wartime military service in the Pacific theatre. Continued to act after the war, initially on Broadway, then increasingly drawn towards television. Later switched to directing and producing for Disney, Screen Gems and Aaaron Spelling Productions.
