We are getting a new Robin Hood movie next year from director Otto Bathurst and we finally have our first look! I like what I'm seeing in these first photos. It looks like we’ll have some fights inside the city walls as well as the love story of Robin and Maid Marion. Just looking at the pictures it seems we might be getting a heist film, a Jason Bourne film, and a love story revolving around a bow. I see how he looks at that thing. After all, this is Robin Hood, he's all about the heists!
According to the synopsis, Robin and Little John start a revolt against a corrupt English ruler. This sounds a little different from the story I remember hearing as a boy of Robin Hood where he just robbed from the rich to give to the poor. It makes sense though. The best way...

John Stamos is feeling free at 54!
The actor celebrated his birthday on Saturday with an Instagram photo of him appropriately donning nothing but his birthday suit. In the cheeky snap, the actor stands in an outdoor shower with his back to the camera, his derriere hidden only by some palm branches.
“#54 and clean,” Stamos captioned the photo. “Thanks for the birthday wishes!”
Earlier in the day, the Full House star got sentimental about turning another year older.

Jamie Foxx is currently filming Robin Hood: Origins, in which he stars as Little John opposite Taron Egerton’s Robin Goodfellow. Production is located in Dubrovnik, a Croatian resort town near the Adriatic Sea, where The Associated Press reports Foxx had a run-in recently with a couple of racist locals. According to Croatian police, two men were charged with disorderly conduct after allegedly using a racial slur in reference to Foxx.
The Oscar winner was not named in the police report, but Foxx reportedly expressed dismay over the incident on his Instagram account not long after it happened. He’s since deleted his comments, but Croatian police are apparently considering pursuing other charges against the men, who reportedly made “particularly arrogant and rude” comments about the actor. The AP points to a rise in far-right sentiments across Europe (and the U.S.), which apparently has reached even scenic seaside towns...

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword isn’t the only rebooted folklore classic cramming up the pipeline – over at Lionsgate, Peaky Blinders director Otto Bathurst is currently overseeing development on Robin Hood: Origins, a gritty origin story in which Taron Egerton plays the skilled archer and swordsman.
Filming is now underway in Budapest, Hungary, and the first wave of set photos are here to prove it. First spotted by The Dubrovnik Times, the images above offer but a fleeting glimpse of Egerton in costume as the legendary outlaw, who can be seen puckering up for a kiss with Maid Marian (Eve Hewson). Flanked by scores of extras and other cast members, it’s safe to assume Bathurst and the production team have kicked off with one of the film’s final scenes, after Hood and Co. have successfully robbed from the rich at the benefit of the poor.

Lionsgate has located its Friar Tuck for Robin Hood: Origins – and not a moment too soon.
With the studio expected to set up production in Budapest, Hungary over the coming weeks, it’s been revealed that Aussie actor, comedian and musician Tim Minchin has closed a deal to play one of Robin Hood’s closest allies in the fight against the English crown. Kingsman: The Secret Service breakout Taron Egerton is attached to play the cunning thief – one famed for stealing from the rich and giving to the poor – and will spearhead an ensemble cast comprised of Ben Mendelsohn (Rogue One) as the Sheriff of Nottingham, Eve Hewson as Maid Marian, Jamie Dornan (Fifty Shades Darker) as Will Scarlett and, finally, Jamie Foxx as Little John.
Screenwriter Joby Harold turned in the script for Robin Hood: Origins, which has since been described as a “real revisionist version” of the folklore classic.

Every once in a while, a cinematic sleeper hit comes along and blows past everyone’s expectations to such an extent that it has a rippling effect on the entire genre. In 2014, John Wick was that film.
Three years ago, Chad Stahelski and David Leitch’s blistering revenge thriller was lauded as a rich cocktail of incredible stunt work and jaw-dropping action, and it’s small wonder why Lionsgate quickly commissioned a sequel in the form of John Wick: Chapter 2. But at least in the action department, the studio is eager to use Wick’s choreography as a template for success. Chatting to Collider, Basil Iwanyk, producer on the upcoming Robin Hood: Origins, teased the ways in which Otto Bathurst’s reboot differs from the Hood stories of old.

John Stamos has never been shy about his love for beauty. For starters, his hair is still as full and flawless as it was the moment he stole America’s hearts on Full House. The 53-year-old star has continued to remain visibly ageless, proving that he’s either the recipient of some incredibly Benjamin Button-like genes or he simply has a remarkably effective skincare routine.

Rogue One star Ben Mendelsohn has just landed a new villainous role in Lionsgate's upcoming film Robin Hood: Origins. The actor will play the Sheriff of Nottingham, and it's really easy to imagine him in the role. He'll easily slip right into it and bring the character to life perfectly. This guy is a great actor and gives an incredible performance in everything that he does.
The story will center on Robin Hood, who is described as "a war-hardened crusader who joins a Moorish commander in an audacious revolt against the corrupt English monarchy."
Mendelsohn joins the previously cast Taron Egerton as Robin Hood and Jamie Foxx as Little John. The film will also star Eve Hewson as Maid Marian and Jamie Dornan (Fifty Shades of Grey) will portray Will Scarlet, Robin Hood’s half-brother.

With Rogue One: A Star Wars Story about to hit theaters, Ben Mendelsohn is getting ready to move onto another big-budget story centered on good guys stealing from bad guys. According to Variety, Mendelsohn is “in negotiations” to play the villainous Sheriff Of Nottingham in director Otto Bathurst’s Robin Hood: Origins opposite Taron Egerton as the title character, Jamie Foxx as Little John, Eve Hewson as Maid Marian, and Jamie Dornan as Will Scarlett.
Robin Hood: Origins will feature the iconic emerald archer as a “war-hardened crusader who joins a Moorish commander in an audacious revolt against the corrupt English monarchy.” Considering that this movie has “Origins” in the title, that audacious revolt probably won’t go so well, so Robin Hood and his merry friends will eventually end up hiding out in the woods and competing in dramatic archery contests.

Since it’s been a couple of years since we had a Robin Hood blockbuster, Lionsgate is firming up its plans for bringing another one to theaters. According to Deadline, the studio revealed that it’s going to release Robin Hood: Origins on March 23, 2018.
Lest you haven’t been able to keep track of all the Robin Hood projects in some stage of development, this one comes from Joby Harold, who also slapped together Guy Ritchie’s upcoming King Arthur movie. It is, we are loathe to report, a “gritty” take on the character who robs from the rich to give to the poor. Kingsman’s Taron Egerton plays the titular role, and his Merry Men include a pair of Jamies: Foxx as Little John and Dornan as Will Scarlett. The Knick’s Eve Hewson is Maid Marian.

After assembling a who’s who of Hollywood talent, Robin Hood: Origins has finally set sights on an official release date: March 23, 2018.
Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment made the announcement yesterday evening, confirming that Kingsman: The Secret Service breakout Taron Egerton will take up arms as the legendary outlaw in two years’ time. Angled as a darker, grittier take on the folklore legend, Otto Bathurst of Peaky Blinders fame is on board to direct, and will usher Robin Hood back to the Sherwood Forest at a time when Hood’s rightful home has fallen prey to corruption and evil. Rather than stealing from the rich and giving to the poor, Egerton’s title hero sets about assembling a band of outlaws, as they rise up against the corrupt English crown. Jamie Foxx (Little John), Jamie Dornan (Will Scarlett), and Eve Hewson (Maid Marian) also star.

No surprise, gothic rocker Marilyn Manson felt right at home on the set of Wgn America’s period thriller “Salem.”

The set for Dinley’s office includes strange, dangerous-looking surgical instruments and bottles of formaldehyde with things floating in it.
“He walked in and said, ‘Oh, I’ve got that at home, I’ve got that at home,'” said executive producer Brannon Braga. “He fit right in.”
Manson (who also produced the show’s theme song) plays a character based on the real-life 17th century barbers who would also slice patients open for surgery. “He’s kind of a cross between Vidal Sassoon and Jack the Ripper,” Braga said. “There’s a little Sweeney Todd in there. In 2014, actor Jamie Foxx appeared in five separate films: “Rio 2,” “”The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” “A Million Ways to Die in the West,” “Horrible Bosses 2,” and “Annie.” Fox has not appeared in a film since but has instead released his fifth R&B album “Hollywood: A Story of Dozen Roses,” and provided the voice of Jackie Robinson in the Ken Burns’ documentary on the baseball legend released earlier this year. But soon, Foxx will return to the big screen in “Sleepless,” an action thriller about a police detective forced to recover his son after he’s been violently kidnapped. Jamie Dornan is set to go from 50 Shades Darker to Sherwood Forest...
Jamie Dornan may already be preparing for the masquerade of excitement wrapping around Fifty Shades Darker, but he is also looking at franchise potential beyond that Valentine’s Day treat. Indeed, the actor currently best known for playing the role of Christian Grey is now in talks to join Taron Egerton in Robin Hood: Origins.
The news was broken by The Hollywood Reporter, which indicates that Dornan is in talks to play Will Scarlett, the member of the Merry Men known for wearing fine clothes and as the best swordsmen of the motley crew. If Dornan closes the deal with Lionsgate, he will be starring alongside Egerton from Kingsmen: The Secret Service as Robin Hood and Jamie Foxx as Little John. Eve Hewson has also been cast as Maid Marian.

Fifty Shades of Grey star Jamie Dornan has found a role of a different shade...Scarlet. Variety reports that the actor is in talks to play the character of Will Scarlet in Lionsgate's Robin Hood: Origins, which will star Kingsman actor Taron Egerton as the title archer. A different Jamie — Mr. Foxx — is lined up in the role of Robin Hood's number one sidekick Little John, while The Knick's Eve Hewson will play Maid Marian.
Peaky Blinders director Otto Bathurst is directing from a script by Joby Harold, who also wrote Guy Ritchie's upcoming King Arthur movie. As the title might indicate, this movie "follows the titular hero as he returns from the Crusades and forms a band of outlaws to deal with corruption."
Traditionally, Will Scarlet is the half-brother of Robin Hood and one of his Merry Men. Christian Slater played the character in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

In a new segment for Late Night with Seth Meyers called "A Message to My Younger Self," stars Keri Russell, John Stamos, Henry Cavill and John Goodman all took some time to shell out advice they would give to their former selves.

Gianni Nunnari's The Hollywood Gang, the production company behind the 300 movies and The Immortals, was one of the first companies to start development of a reimagining of the Robin Hood legend. They've been working on a "futuristic" take on the classic archer since 2009, and it's gone through multiple screenwriters, including Jason Dean Hall (American Sniper) and Michael Ross (The Throwaways), over the past few years. Now THR reports that the company is gearing back up to give it another go with the project.
They've just hired UK-based scribe Tony Lee to write the screenplay, which will be set in "dystopian London with a rogue MI5 agent on a mission to avenge injustice." Lee is primarily a comic book writer, but he has a few screenplays in the works at various places around town. This project's working title was once Robin Hood 2058, but there's no word yet on whether...

The newest version of the Robin Hood story to hit the screen has had some extra time to get things lined up since their star has been busy with other things. They.re not letting that time go to waste, however, as they just picked up Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx for a major role. In what will surely make for a unique take on this version of the story, Foxx will be playing Robin Hood.s right-hand man, Little John. With Kingsman: The Secret Service star Taron Egerton set to take the title role of Robin Hood, this makes for an interesting pairing. At first glance it might appear that this version of Little John would be the older, wiser mentor character who tries to teach the young Robin how to fight (the movie is called Origins after all). However, that.s not really the case. This Little John...

Remember a couple months ago, when Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service) was announced as the lead for a Robin Hood reboot? Well, it’s all still happening, and the cast may have gotten slightly more interesting, what with the new addition of Jamie Foxx as Little John.
According to Deadline, he’ll be playing a rather salty version of the character who is it at first distrusting of the young archer, being that they were on opposite sides of the Crusades.
Similar to Morgan Freeman’s character in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (y’know… the one with Kevin Costner as Robin Hood), Foxx’s Little John will evidently be a muslim who is “battle-hardened but war-weary”, who ultimately comes to respect and admire the young outlaw. This new take on the Robin Hood mythos – dubbed Robin Hood: Origins, apparently – is being described as gritty and revisionist.

Jamie Foxx is set to play Little John opposite "Kingsman: The Secret Service" breakout star Taron Egerton as Robin Hood in the upcoming gritty reboot "Robin Hood: Origins" at Lionsgate and Appian Way.
Eve Hewson will be playing Maid Marian in the story which is said to bring a "Batman Begins" vibe to the story of the man returning from the Crusades who became an archer-thief who stole from the rich and gave to the poor.
Little John was Robin's right-hand man and known to fight with a staff. Otto Bathurst helms the new take which will begin filming later this year.

Production on Lionsgate’s trip back to Sherwood Forest may have been placed on the back-burner in favor of the upcoming sequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service, though Deadline has brought proof that Robin Hood: Origins is quietly marching forward in development with the casting of Jamie Foxx as Little John, one of the many Merry Men set to rob from the rich and give to the poor in 2017.
Foxx joins a cast that already boasts Taron Egerton in the star role as the titular man in tights along with Eve Hewson as Maid Marian. Indeed, it’s the former’s involvement in Kingsman 2 that has forced the studio’s hand into pumping the brakes on Origins, which will now hop in front of the cameras in late summer.

With the recent success of Disney's live-action films based on their classic animated films (and many of those being inspired or adapted from fables or fairy tales), it's no surprise that other studios are continuing to tap into properties that are in the public domain in an effort to capitalize on the public's perceived desire to see these stories rehashed over and over again on the big screen. The trend will continue with Robin Hood: Origins, a Lionsgate film that's set to tell a Batman Begins-style origin of the hero of Sherwood Forest that has Kingsman: The Secret Service's Taron Egerton in place the title character.
