Baz Luhrmann says it would be “an amazing historical moment” if Elvis cinematographer Mandy Walker were to triumph at Sunday’s Academy Awards. To quote Lizzo, “It’s been too long,” the filmmaker tells me last night at the Australian Oscar nominees soirée held in the Chateau Marmont’s penthouse suite.
The Elvis director reasons that a woman hasn’t won an Oscar for best cinematographer thus far because “the camera unit is just the last bastion of blokeyness and probably comes down to who do you want to have a beer with.”

The life and tragic unsolved death of one of Britain’s most beloved TV presenters, Jill Dando, is to be profiled in a Netflix documentary series.
The as-yet-untitled show comes from Empress Films and will blend archive with new research and interviews to revisit Dando’s life, career legacy and a death that remains one of the most notorious unsolved murders of the 20th century.
In April 1999, Dando was shot dead outside her home in London prompting the biggest ever murder inquiry conducted by the Metropolitan Police and the country’s largest criminal investigation since the hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper. Yet, with 2,000 potential suspects identified, her killer has still not been found. Dando was an English journalist, television presenter and newsreader who spent most of her career at the BBC.

Netflix is in production on a documentary series about the life and death of popular U.K. television presenter Jill Dando, who was killed in 1999.
On the morning of April 26, 1999, Dando was shot dead outside her home in West London. Her murder became one of the most high profile and complex investigations in British history. Dando’s death led to one of the largest investigations launched in the history of the Metropolitan Police. A suspect was convicted and imprisoned for eight years, but was acquitted after an appeal and retrial. Despite the police identifying several other suspects, Dando’s murder remains unsolved.

Prince Andrew is getting the documentary treatment at Peacock.
The streamer has released the trailer for Prince Andrew: Banished, a 90-minute documentary debuting Oct. 5 that will dive into the “tumultuous and complex” life of Prince Andrew. The feature includes interviews with palace insiders, journalists, and others who were close to the controversial relationship between Prince Andrew, Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein.
The disgraced second son to the late Queen Elizabeth II stepped down from royal duties over his association with the late child sex offender Epstein in November 2019. The decision, an unusual one for a senior royal, followed a televised BBC interview where he came under fire for how he clarified his ties with Epstein and was perceived as lacking sympathy for Epstein’s sex trafficking victims, many of whom were underage. As a result, he was stripped of his honorary military titles and charity roles,...

The scripted and unscripted series based on “The Battersea Poltergeist” from Blumhouse Television and Maniac Productions have been set up at Peacock for development, Variety has learned exclusively.
Both projects are based on the BBC Radio 4 docu-drama podcast “The Battersea Poltergeist.” It was first announced as being in the works in May 2021, though no network or streaming service was attached at that time.
The shows are meant to be the first installment of a new anthology series called “Blumhouse’s Ghost Story.” “The Battersea Poltergeist” tells the story of strange events that occurred in 1956 in Battersea, South London, when 15-year old Shirley Hitchings first began being terrorized by a powerful force. The events were investigated over a 12-year period, becoming the longest documented poltergeist haunting in history. The unscripted companion series will delve deeper into the story through the use of archival footage and new interviews.

"I can't say anything. And I knew it all." Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a new documentary film titled The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe: The Unheard Tapes, the latest from a doc filmmaker named Emma Cooper. Yet another true crime documentary to keep everyone glued to their TVs watching content endlessly. The film examines the various rumors and conspiracies related to Marilyn Monroe's untimely death in 1962 at the age of 36. Sixty years later, the Netflix doc uncovers new details about the night that Monroe allegedly overdosed on drugs. Back in 1982, Monroe's case was reopened after a news channel's "The Marilyn Files" investigative report. "Marilyn and the truth – it's like going into the lion's den and I indeed found out things which had not been found out before." Marilyn Monroe is at the beating heart of another true-crime documentary about the mysterious circumstances surrounding her 1962 death.
Sixty years later, the Netflix documentary “The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe: The Unheard Tapes” uncovers new details about the night that Monroe allegedly overdosed on drugs at the age of 36. In 1992, Monroe’s case was reopened after Ktla’s “The Marilyn Files” aired on TV.
Netflix’s “The Unheard Tapes” premieres April 27, and no conspiracy theory or Kennedy connection is left unturned. The interviews from the 1992 investigation have never been heard until now.
“I can’t say anything and I knew it all,” one unnamed commentator says in the trailer.
Another adds, “Marilyn and the truth, it’s like getting into the lion’s den and I indeed found out things which had not been found out before.”
Emma Cooper directs the documentary, and “Tiger King” creator Chris Smith serves as executive producer.

With British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell currently awaiting a November 2021 trial, facing charges that range from enticement of minors to sex trafficking of children in connection, the producers behind “Epstein’s Shadow: Ghislaine Maxwell” feel the timing of that docuseries’ release could not be more perfect.
This is because they did not set out to capture the definitive story of her legal battles, but rather “to be the definitive documentary on who this woman is,” executive producer Emma Cooper explained at the Seriesfest panel for the three-part docuseries.
The docuseries doesn’t solely focus on Maxwell’s relationship with the titular Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender who was arrested again (this time on charges of sex trafficking of minors) in 2019 and found dead in his jail cell just a month after that arrest. The two were in each other’s orbit for decades (though exactly how long may depend on who...

Note - This is written about 3.5 months after it originally aired, but I am writing it as close to what I remember as possible. Also things jump from Dean and Sam's Pov at the beginning so I consolidated them. The wacky back and forth makes for a hard time recapping. Finally, beware. This is stream-of-conscious, making it less concise and probably less coherent than usual. And we all know those aren't my strengths on a good day. Oh, and I love Lisa.
Previously - Sam's been back for a year, Dean's ticked about it, Dean made a life with Lisa and Ben, Bobby betrayed Dean by not telling him about Sam, we met the Csa (Campbell Soup Army) led by Grandpa Creepy - oh yeah!, no one knew why Sam and Grandpa Creepy were back, shapeshifters are not mandroids but they are gross with the shedding thing, Dean...
