This article contains spoilers for The Winchesters through episode 8.
Back when it first aired in November 2020, the ending of The CW’s beloved Supernatural was met with some criticism. Some viewers were miffed about a tacked-on “Destiel” fan service, while others were incredibly angry that Dean met his end in a seemingly run-of-the-mill hunt, and some more still were just bemoaning that the series had just been on for too long at that point. Supernatural ended in a big way, with God being replaced, Dean (Jensen Ackles) dying, and Sam (Jared Padalecki) getting a really bad wig and old age makeup before he reunites with his brother in Heaven. It was a tumultuous time.
Supernatural had a long run, and in so doing had several spinoff shows tossed around before being eventually dumped. Wayward Sisters: we hardly knew ye. Bloodlines can stay dead. Supernatural creator Eric Kripke also once pitched...

Now that Bloodlines is off the table, Supernatural is hunting for new spin-off ideas. Here are a few suggestions...
Feature
Warning: contains spoilers for Supernatural season nine.
A few weeks ago, Den of Geek reviewed the backdoor pilot for a potential Supernatural spin-off, Bloodlines. We were, shall we say, unimpressed, and it seems that opinion was shared by – well, everybody. In an astounding and almost unprecedented turn of events, the Supernatural fandom was united in its opinion: the spin-off was utterly lacklustre, mostly because it had very little to do with its parent show. In the days since the review was written, we received an onslaught of comments agreeing with this preliminary evaluation of Bloodlines.
It’s since been announced the CW will not be going ahead with the spin-off, quite possibly causing the fandom to breathe a collective sigh of relief. But, despite the seemingly ubiquitous dislike for this backdoor pilot,...

As you have surely already guessed based on the title, Girls’ Fashion Shoot has players take on the role of an upcoming female model who doubles as the fashion editor of a successful style magazine. While, the game’s feature bullet points suggest an assortment of activities, the truth is that this 3Ds title is a shallow one-trick pony that (sadly) reinforces the idea that a disturbingly thin body is the primary goal that females should aspire to.
Upon turning on Girls’ Fashion Shoot for the first time, players are instructed to create a new character in the single save file on the cartridge — which could be a problem for anyone buying this game with the intent of creating more than one character or sharing the game among multiple children. During this process, players are first told to type in their name using a maximum of six letters (sorry Isabella,...

Alec Mapa and friends on the Allure of the Seas
Alec Mapa, everyone's favorite Gaysian sweetheart, is a bundle of contractions. His standup is about as raunchy and personal as you can imagine, with graphic jokes about his sex life and even bathroom habits. But he's also a great dad. As we met aboard the Atlantis Events cruise to talk about fatherhood, comedy, and Ugly Betty, he showed up holding a MacBook at an awkward angle, trying to use the ship's flaky WiFi to video conference with his son about his behavior at school.
AfterElton: We are on the Allure, and we are talking to Alec Mapa, who was kind enough to get out of bed early to talk to us.
Alec Mapa: I know – it's miraculous.
Ae: We're huge fans at AfterElton. We haven't seen a lot of you on TV since Ugly Betty, but that was such an iconic role.

Sunrise, Wyoming March 5 1861 Two men engage in a showdown and one is Dean (Jensen Ackles) in cowboy attire. The clock strikes high noon. The Supernatural opening is similar to Bonanza. 48 Hours earlier Sam (Jared Padalecki) searches the cellar for books etc for anything to help them with Eve. Bobby (Jim Beaver) mentions Phoenix and Dean asks, "Is that River, Joaquin or the flaming bird." "Ashes of the mother can burn the mother." "...killed a phoenix today and left a pile of flaming ash." That's from Samuel Colt's journal. Dean doesn't share the journal and he actually found what they needed too. So much for Sam being the geek, ha. "Star Trek IV the bitch," is Dean's suggestion. "Save the whales, go back in time and hunt the Phoenix." Obviously no one knows the plot of the film. Dean knows someone who can do it. Cas - "I dream...

Supernatural Review, Season 7, Episode 12: “Time After Time After Time”
Written by Robbie Thompson
Directed by Phil Sgriccia
Airs Fridays at 9pm (Et) on the CW
This week, on Supernatural: Paper beats rock, Sheriff Jody Mills returns, and Dean gets his Untouchables on.
Supernatural has a fine tradition of time travel episodes. They’ve used the device several times, almost entirely to great success. They’ve travelled backwards, forwards, looped; they met their parents twice, hung out with Samuel Colt, and now, after accidentally hitching a ride with Chronos, God of Time, Dean gets to go Hunting with Eliot Ness. Unlike last week’s unfortunately paced episode, “Time After Time After Time” balances its serial and standalone elements well, focusing on the case of the week, or more accurately, Dean’s trip to 1940s Land, while touching lightly upon the overarching storyline.
Though they’re mostly set aside this week,...

Welcome back to Celebrity Twitterwatch, where we try and make sense of what the beautiful people are talking about, or at least create a narrative thread more coherent than the plot of the Glee Christmas episode.
Joseph Morgan is a big part of the reason that there are no unwatched episodes of The Vampire Diaries on my DVR, while shows I've loved for years like Supernatural languish for weeks going on months. He proves that it's possible to play a powerful, ancient baddie with an understated, quiet menace. I just wish he spent more time out of his clothes. I can't wait for his brothers to pop up, but for now I'll just go with this image.
I'm not surprised that Dave Salmoni prefers animals to humans in any way. But I think the definition of weird needs to be discussed - are we talking Teddy Bear,...

Manning, Colorado. Present Day Daniel Elkin (Terence Kelly) looks over his journal and papers at a bar. "Boys we're eating in tonight." Cue Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) in a cafe. Sam's looking for cases. Dean suggests they could go see Sarah and Sam thinks maybe someday, like never. Dean knows Elkin's name after finding it in Dad's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) journal. They drive to Colorado and Sam finds salt inside the door. Supernatural fans are in for a treat with the spring publication of Supernatural: John Winchester’S Journal (It Books), a trade paperback companion book to the hit CW TV series. Written by Alex Irvine (author of a previous Supernatural tie-in), John Winchester’S Journal takes us through Sam and Dean’s rocky childhoods, ending with their father’s disappearance—the starting point of Supernatural’s pilot episode. The illustrated paperback reveals such tidbits as: John’s single-minded pursuit of a growing and deadly evil; John’s notes on everything from shapeshifters to Samuel Colt’s demon-halting pistol; the exorcism Sam and Dean used in “Phantom Traveler”; Dean’s first hunt; Sam’s peewee soccer team (!) and much more. Fango spoke with Irvine about John Winchester’S Journal and his love of the show. The author of seven novels, Irvine has also written two collections of short stories and a Marvel Comics series,...

It's official everyone: Supernatural was renewed for another season!!! I must admit, I didn't think it was going to happen, but I guess we're all still showing enough support that the CW felt it warranted. I'm so relieved, because I was starting to sweat over the (very close) finale and how there was no way they'd tie up everything in a satisfying way... now we can maybe assume they're saving the Angel War for next season? Who knows.
But this is the recap of episode 19, 'Mommy Dearest' - what a title. I immediately got excited about the fact that we were Finally going to delve properly into the Mother big bag plot, and I'd heard about a few veeery significant guest stars, so I had high hopes!

Creator: Eric Kirpke.
Director: Guy Norman Bee.
Writers: Jackson Stewart, Daniel Loflin and Andrew Dabb.
The boundaries between pop culture and the occult gets mixed up again in the latest episode of Supernatural. In “Frontierland,” both Sam and Dean request that they get sent back in time in order to find the phoenix and use its ashes in order to defeat the Mother of All. This episode is the most entertaining ever since they broke the fourth wall in “The French Mistake.”
Much to everyone else’s amusement, this era is thankfully not like what Dean expects it to be. Instead of a Spaghetti Western, the real west is a reflection of the times—people struggling to make end’s meat in an untamed land.
Director Guy Bee hit all the right cues by giving Dean a reality check when everything he says and does do not make sense to the people he's intereacting with.

Sam, Dean and Bobby uncover the Campbell family library and begin looking for new information on how to defeat Eve, the mother of all monsters. They learn from one tome that the ashes of a phoenix can burn the mother and, as they continue their search, Dean discover the journal of the legendary Samuel Colt. The entry for March 5, 1861, suggests that Colt killed a phoenix and turned it to ash, so Dean suggests travelling back in time to recover the ashes. Dean calls Castiel, but the angel's lieutenant Rachel arrives in his place. Rachel criticises the brothers for their over-reliance on Castiel, who is still commanding an army in his war against Raphael. However, Castiel appears and agrees to help, sending Rachel back to the battlefront. He explains that, due to the massive team leap, the Winchesters will only have 24 hours in the past before he is unable to retrieve them.

In Sunrise, Wyoming on March 5, 1861, standard spaghetti western music plays on a dusty deserted street. Two cowboys with spurs that jingle-jangle standoff while nervous townspeople appear through windows. Apparently 3 people live in Sunrise. The cowboys dramatically draw back their coats in tandem and we flash onto a Sheriff badge. Well howdy Sheriff Dean. He looks intensely as a clock nears noon. Yep, it's an old-fashioned showdown. Guns are drawn but we fade to a map of old Wyoming. Bwah! It's a Bonanza-style title card. As flames burn the middle, a flaming yellow "Supernatural" appears, before the discordant sound of the usual glass breaking. They always get the title sequence for "very special" episodes dead right.

I think it's safe to say that 'Frontierland' was one of the season's most hyped episodes - if not the most hyped - and what's more, I think this might be the only season 6 episode to go down as a classic must-watch Spn episode. Why? Well, cause it's awesome, but more importantly because it called back to some of the most iconic parts of Spn history - the Colt, the Devil's Gate in the season 2 finale, and the good old fashioned (non-Campbell cause people hated them - to which I take personal offense; my dad's name is Campbell) Hunters. The only thing that'd get fans' hearts pumping harder at this point would be the return of Jdm, but I think we can put a pin in that one at this point.
But who cares (gasp I know!)? Because it's the Colt, the first of many canon-Samuels, and the incorporation of...

We head back to the wild west. In digging through the Campbell family library (a bomb shelter crammed with ephemera), Bobby finds evidence that what they may need to defeat the Mother is ash from a phoenix. So, naturally, Dean decides that the easiest way to obtain phoenix ash is for Castiel to send them back in time. Cas agrees,...

There's nothing like the Old West to bring out the Supernatural charm and this week's "Frontierland" hit on all the bases.
Dean stole the show by exhibiting his inner child with his fascination for all things Western and Clint Eastwood. From the goofy get-ups to the name drops of Marshal Eastwood and Walker, Texas Ranger, Dean delivered his one-liners with an enthusiastic grin that you couldn't help but laugh.
If he learned anything, it was that the saloon girls weren't that pretty, the whiskey tasted like gasoline, and the town was sparse and dry. Did I mention Dean loves posse?
Of course, the trip wasn't all fun and games (although it sure did look fun), as the brothers hunted for the phoenix ashes. Despite the Mother of All's imminent threat, she seems to have been relatively absent so far. Does that mean she'll stick around for next season? At least...

"Hi ho silver" takes on a whole new meaning this Friday when Sam and Dean load up and head to the wild, wild west in search of Samuel Colt in Supernatural's "Frontierland!"
The high concept episode, announced at San Diego Comic Con airs Friday, April 22nd immediately following Smallville's "Booster," and sees the boys travelling back in time in search of a new means to defeat "Mother of All" Eve.
Meanwhile, Castiel faces his own challenges in both getting the boys to and from their destination, as well as his relationship with angel lieutenant Rachel (Sonya Salomaa), as the civil war in Heaven rages on.
But while it's hardly the first Supernatural episode to have a little fun with Dean's love of pop culture, expect plenty of references to your favorite time-travel and wild west franchises as his over-enthusiasm gets the better of him in these new clips!

Yes, there are plenty of "Back to the Future: Part 3" references, just like we'd hoped -- including Dean calling himself Eastwood. In fact, the episode has a lot of really humorous moments. Most mythology-heavy episodes tend to steer away from the humor, but this episode perfectly balances laughs with high-stakes drama. Dean's sheer delight at the opportunity to explore the Old West is a blast to watch...

"Supernatural" might do a musical like what "Grey's Anatomy" did. Executive producer Bob Singer tells TVLine that he is poised to make a musical episode although he finds it "risky". He shares, "Musicals are really risky ground, but we do talk about it."
Singer goes on claiming that the idea has been there even before Ryan Murphy successfully brought musical drama "Glee". "From year one, there have been two things we've talked about: How do you do a musical? And how do you do a cartoon?" he explains, revealing a possible animated episode for The CW show. "We haven't found a way to do either one of those yet, but I'm sure it'll come up in conversation for next season, an animated show or a musical."
On how this season will end considering "Supernatural" has yet to get a renewal, Singer shares, "It's a solid ending for the main arc of the season,...

With its string of meta and high concept episodes before it, Supernatural has decided to go back to the beginning.
Way back, that is. The Winchester boys return after a month-long hiatus on April 15th with "My Heart Will Go On," but Sam and Dean will travel all the way to the old west with the subsequent time-travelling episode "Frontierland!"
Searching for a way to defeat Eve, the boys realize that the legendary maker of their pistol, Samuel Colt may hold the key, and enlist the help of the angelic Castiel to take a quick trip back to the wild, wild west.
And what of future concept episodes? TVLine had a chance to speak to executive producer Bob Singer, who had some very interesting (and potentially disastrous) thoughts:

After a bloody-long hiatus, Supernatural is back tonight with the first of their final episodes for season six. Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Alpha Male Madness 2011 winner Jensen Ackles) have lots of action ahead of them, including strapping on cowboy hats to hang with Samuel Colt and dealing with a world where the Titanic didn't sink. You know, the usual stuff. Before we dive into the final episodes of season six, we had to have a little chat with executive producer Bob Singer. We took him your fan questions, and luckily, he had answers, including some tantalizing info about a season seven: Q&A with Supernatural Executive Producer Robert Singer Finally back after a hiatus! So what's going on...

Picture this: An episode of Supernatural (Fridays at 9/8c) that begins just like any other (demons, souls in peril, etc;), and then — bam! — Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles break into song, all the while looking dapper as can be. Sounds ah-mazing, no? Well, through no prodding of my own, executive producer Bob Singer tells TVLine that just such a much-desired outing may finally be on the way (should the CW series receive a Season 7).
Also in this Q&A: more details on the boys’ trip to the Old West, the search for Eve, and what Singer really thought of the meta experimental “French Mistake.

In the episode, titled “Frontierland,” Sam and Dean get sent back in time to the Old West by Castiel to find the Colt and end up having an encounter with Samuel Colt himself. Personally, I’ve never argued with good-looking men in cowboy gear, and I’m certainly not going to start complaining now.

One of our favorite genre mash-ups is the horror-western. There just aren't enough of them! But helping to fill the void is "Supernatural" Episode 18, entitled "Frontierland", and we have a big batch of stills from the ep to share - along with two new videos. One is a behind-the-scenes hosted by Jared Padalecki, and the other is a Season Six catch-up.

Sam and Dean are channeling their inner John Wayne later this month.
On Supernatural's upcoming trip back to the Wild West, the two not only look great in those cowboy hats, they'll come face to face with the legendary Samuel Colt.
“Sam not only gets to meet Samuel Colt, but he also sees the original Colt [revolver],” Jared Padalecki tells TV Line. “We’ve been dancing around that since Season 1.
"It was nice to go back and have Samuel Winchester meet Samuel Colt.”
Supernatural returns April 15. The Old West trip, "Frontierland," airs April 22.

Supernatural has just six episodes left in season six, which means a lot of loose ends need to be tied up in a very short period of time. Now we have photos of two of the next episodes and after a lag in the major plot points “And Then There Were None” gave us a turn for the better, introducing Eve, a creepy, mother of all monsters baddie.
In the next episode, “My Heart Will Go On” which returns the show from hiatus on April 15, Balthazar (guest star Sebastian Roche) changes history and keeps the Titanic from sinking, Fate (guest star Katie Walder) intervenes and begins killing those that would have died on the ship. Castiel (Misha Collins) tells Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) that Fate is very upset with the two of them and the only way they can stay alive is to kill her.

Last week we posted promo photos for the April 15 return episode of Supernatural (click here to view them) and now TV Line has the first peek at the Winchester brothers heading to the Old West in the April 22 episode!
So what brings the Winchesters to the Old West? Sam and Dean are trying to figure out a way to defeat Eve, and during their research through the Campbell library, Dean finds Samuel Colt's journal. Yes, the original Samuel Colt who created the gun that can kill demons, which the brothers first got their hands on in season 1. The boys thinks that Samuel Colt and his research might be the key they're looking for to defeat Eve, so they ask Castiel to send them back in time to 1861 Wyoming in order to meet him. Sam's not too happy about traveling through time, but Dean is, of course, thrilled to play cowboy.

The Winchester brothers are about to meet the man who made the legendary Colt that kills nearly any creature, supernatural or otherwise. On an upcoming episode of the CW’s Supernatural, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) will take a trip into the Old West to meet the Samuel Colt. The brothers seek out Colt’s help to “deal with the angry spirit of Elias Finch.” Sam Hennings (Memphis Beat) has been cast to play the role of Colt.
Executive producer Sera Gamble talks about the Colt episode:
“[Samuel Colt]’s an iconic character for the show, and has been since season one. We’ll be meeting him later in his life, after many years of fighting demons and tinkering with magical weapons and Devil’s Gates and such. "Supernatural's" highly anticipated Old West time-travel episode will bring Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) face to face with Samuel Colt.
Thanks to TVLine, we can now put a face to the legendary name. Sam Hennings, most recently known as Charlie White of "Memphis Beat," will play Colt. Much about Colt remains a mystery. We do know that he built the gun that killed Azazel - a gun that can kill almost anything. He also built a giant railroad Devil's Trap to protect the cowboy cemetery devil's gate.
