Richard Donner's 1985 adventure film "The Goonies" has a passionate following of young men who fell in love with it at an early age. Like Steven Spielberg's "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial," "The Goonies" was exceptionally adept at depicting 11-year-old boys as crass, sloppy, clumsy imps. Unlike the mini-adults one might encounter in most family movies, the kids in "The Goonies" talked over each other, cussed openly, made gross jokes, and were unabashedly mean to one another. The main characters of "The Goonies" may be friends, but they would rather rag on each other, bicker, scream, and pull cruel pranks than admit camaraderie. Some find these kinds of characters to be refreshingly authentic.
The casual cruelty of the Goonies is on most brazen display near the start of the film. Several young boys are gathering together at a suburban home — one they'll have to move away from soon — for fun times and casual play.

Hey you guuyyysssss. When Josh Brolin was cast as older Walsh brother Brandon in 1988’s The Goonies, he had the role of being one of the more mature central cast members. But that doesn’t mean he had it all figured out. After all, it was his debut film, so he could afford as many pointers from the more seasoned people on set…including Steven Spielberg, who had to bring the up-and-comer down a few notches during filming.
Speaking with GQ, Josh Brolin remembered that Steven Spielberg gave him some sound advice during the making of The Goonies. Spielberg may not have been the director – those duties fell on Richard Donner – but he did have story credit and was frequently on hand. “It was a really innocent and a really fun time, and I thought that’s how movies were done and they weren’t. I remember coming up to Spielberg at some point,...

Academy Award winner Ke Huy Quan joined the cast of Loki in season 2 as Ouroboros, a.k.a. Ob. Ob is the chief (and only) engineer of the Tva’s Repairs and Advancement department, where he’s spent 400 years alone keeping the Tva and its tech up and running. The season premiere, named “Ouroboros,” introduces the quirky character and gives Quan ample opportunity to build a rapport with series leads Owen Wilson and Tom Hiddleston. Ob may be a new character, but thanks to Quan, we already can’t wait to see more of him.

In today’s video, we’ll explore The Goonies cast, including the fascinating twists and career moves of Feldman, Kerri Green, Jeff Cohen, Joe Pantoliano, Robert Davi, and Anne Ramsey. Regardless of where they ended up, The Goonies cast helped create one of Hollywood’s most iconic coming-of-age adventures to explore the silver screen. Pretty, pretty … not so good?
A writer-producer on “Curb Your Enthusiasm” shared a tweet Tuesday which suggested that the just-wrapped season of the HBO hit will be the groundbreaking program’s last. While news of new episodes en route is certainly welcome, the thought of Larry David hanging up his hat on a series that could easily find valuable things to say right up until its central figure leaves this mortal coil is, it must be said, upsetting.
“Maybe you love the show. Maybe you hate the show. Maybe you don’t give a shit. In any event, shooting the last scene of the last episode of the final season.” Jon Hayman tweeted, sharing a pic of himself, David, and executive producer Jeff Schaffer. He quickly deleted the missive.

In 1985, a lot of movie-going youngsters dreamed of traveling back in time, finding a bicycle in the basement of the Alamo, or using a mysterious map to discover pirate treasure.
In Kansas City, one kid left the theater with a feeling he’d someday own a house in “the Goondocks.” Then, in December 2022, that now-grown-up Goonies super-fan paid $1.7 million for the cinematic Walsh house. Why? He says The Goonies movie shaped his entire life.

Some films never get old, no matter how many times you see them. Others are about as interesting as unseasoned popcorn. Once in a while, a movie comes along that leaves an impression that lasts a lifetime. Such is the case with deeply devoted Goonies fan, Behman Zakeri.

Ke Huy Quan had a major night at the 2023 Oscars on March 12. The "Everything Everywhere All at Once" star won best supporting actor for his role and got to celebrate the movie's other six wins, including best picture. But perhaps the icing on the cake was Quan's old Indiana Jones costar Harrison Ford being the one to give the "Everything Everywhere All at Once" cast and crew the biggest award of the night. The acting pair even shared an emotional and loving embrace on stage.
In an interview with Variety published on March 15, Quan opened up about how momentous having Ford be the one to present him with the best picture Oscar was. "When he opened that envelope and read the title, it made our win for best picture even more special," he said. "And when I ran up onstage, I pointed at him and he pointed back at...

Few awards season runs have matched Ke Huy Quan’s winning streak this year, with the actor capturing trophies at the Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards, Screen Actors Guild and Independent Spirit Awards for his supporting role in 2022’s Everything Everywhere All at Once. Little did the actor and his stylist, Chloe Takayanagi, know that it would all culminate at the 2023 Oscars when they first worked together when the film’s press tour kicked off.
“Ke’s first appearance for the film was at SXSW [in 2022], and nobody knew anything about the movie at the time,” Takayanagi recalls. “So yes, it was a little difficult to get clothes for those early premieres, though I remember Thom Browne and Giorgio Armani generously loaning from the start.”
What a difference a year makes. As the film has gained traction and buzz, Takayanagi says other designers and brands were happy to jump in with pieces.

Everything Everywhere All At Once is one of the best movies of 2022 and rightly hailed as a career coronation for its lead, Michelle Yeoh. But the performance of Ke Huy Quan as Waymond Wang is also extraordinary, especially considering he hadn’t acted in over two decades.
Quan quit acting due to the tenuous position of Asian performers in Hollywood but felt inspired to return after the runaway success of another film that starred Yeoh.
Still, the road to his casting in Everything Everywhere hinged on something he had no control over. Quan recently explained in an interview that the road to Waymond was paved with Andrew Yang memes.

Last week, we posted a list of five forgotten actors we’d like to see make a comeback, and the reaction was so strong, we decided to post a bunch more! There’s a ton of forgotten actors from the 80s and 90s we’d love to have back on our screen, so let’s take a look at another group of them today.

Goonies may never say die, but their neighbors say, “Goonies Not Welcome.” That’s what a banner outside a house in the same neighborhood as the famous Goonies house reads.
The news comes not long after the Goonies house went up for sale last November. The buyer of the home, Behman Zakeri, purchased it for 1.65 million, and admitted that he is indeed a major fan of the beloved 1985 adventure movie. The house, located in Astoria, Oregon, has proven to be a major tourist attraction. And that’s precisely why one neighbor is up in arms, protesting the constant traffic in the neighborhood.
Zakeri appears to be remaining civil, but a neighborhood feud seems to be brewing around the Goonies house. The home between Zakeri and the curmudgeonly neighborhood has now hung a sign that reads, “iGNORE Karen”, with an arrow pointing towards the home in question.

It's been over 30 years since "The Goonies" hit theaters, and even though there were rumblings of a sequel a few years ago, those plans seem to be off for now. Regardless, it's a nostalgic classic, largely thanks to the memorable performances given by its five main stars - Sean Astin, Corey Feldman, Jeff Cohen, Josh Brolin, and Ke Huy Quan.
Since the movie's debut, the core cast have embarked on a variety of different paths in the entertainment industry. Prior to Ke Huy Quan winning the Golden Globe, he participated in The Hollywood Reporter’s Actor Roundtable, where he was asked who made his deal for Everything Everywhere All At Once, to which he made a revelation as to who handled it: Chunk from The Goonies!
“Jeff Cohen, who was in The Goonies with me–he was Chunk–is all grown now and he’s an entertainment lawyer.” Ke Huy Quan elaborated on the partnership, saying, “When the producer of our movie was trying to make my deal, he said he never imagined that he’d have to talk to Chunk and Data for his movie.” He also went into just how much Jeff Cohen had to do during his time working with the actor. “Anyway, then I did the whole thing, too–hired an acting coach, a dialogue coach, a voice coach–because I’m playing three different versions of the same character.

Ke Huy Quan Landed His Everything Everywhere All At Once Role With An Assist From One Of The Goonies
In a 2015 interview with the Daily Mail, actor Jeff Cohen recalled the disheartening experience of growing up in Hollywood. Jeff Cohen might be best known for playing the role of Lawrence "Chunk" Cohen in Richard Donner's 1985 adventure film "The Goonies," a nostalgic mainstay for kids of a certain generation. In the interview, Cohen talks about how being typecast as a "funny fat kid" left his choice of roles limited, and that he was constantly competing for the same parts with only a few other notable actors. He ended up retiring from acting at a young age, and eventually went into entertainment law. Donner helped Cohen pay for law school. These days, he runs the Cohen Garner Law Group, and wrote the book "The Dealmaker's Ten Commandments: Ten Essential Tools for Business Forged in the Trenches of Hollywood." He specialized in helping actors and Hollywood players negotiate deals.

One of the great feel-good stories of 2022 is Ke Huy Quan’s return to acting. After emerging as a child star in the 1980s with his performances in “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” and “The Goonies,” the actor has spent the past decades out of the spotlight, often working behind the scenes on Hong Kong action films. His comeback performance in the Daniels’ “Everything Everywhere All at Once” has made him a frontrunner for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar, as he has won the equivalent prize at virtually every early award show this season.
In a new appearance in The Hollywood Reporter’s Actor Roundtable, Quan reflected on the unlikely set of circumstances that led to him getting the “Everything Everywhere” script right after deciding that a return to acting was worth pursuing.

Goonies never say die; what they will do is carefully evaluate a contract and help an actor get the best deal possible. At least, that’s what Jeff Cohen, a.k.a. Chunk, has been up to in recent years, and he’s done so on behalf of his old co-star Ke Huy Quan for his triumphant comeback role in Everything Everywhere All…...

Nostalgic ’80s film fans can now own the very property where the “Truffle Shuffle” was first put out into the world.
The classic Victorian-style home where the gang from “The Goonies” plotted out their treasure hunt is up for sale.

The Astoria, Ore., property was listed earlier this month by Jordan Miller of John L. Scott Real Estate for US1.65 million.
Cinephiles will be stoked to learn the home’s exterior remains very true to the 1985 film, although the window casings and door are now orange, not red. Also missing, somewhat disappointingly, is the Rube Goldberg machine that powered the home’s front gate and was featured in the movie’s opening scenes.
Nevertheless, the historic home, which was built in 1896, measures 1,935 sq.

Richard Donner's 1985 film "The Goonies" has found itself ensconced deep within the consciousness of a certain generation of film fans. On the one hand, "The Goonies" is a straightforward Spielbergian adventure story (Steven Spielberg served as the film's executive producer) about a bunch of suburban kids, spending their final weekend together before all their homes are foreclosed, following an ancient treasure map to a lost pirate ship full of gold. Notably, Donner captured how chaotic, crass, and rude kids can be.
"The Goonies" is loaded, by design, with obnoxious kid chatter and light cussing. The titular Goonies, all of them hovering around age 11, like each other but also kind of dislike each other, and are addressed by their clubhouse-style nicknames. The inventor character is called Data (Ke Huy Quan), the jokester is called Mouth (Corey Feldman), and, most rudely, the overweight character is named Chunk (Jeff Cohen).

"The Goonies" is known for the vivacious energy of its young cast, including Sean Astin, Corey Feldman, Jeff Cohen, and Ke Huy Quan. These "goonies," actually a group of kids who live in the blue-collar section of Astoria, Oregon, search for a legendary pirate's hidden treasure to save their homes from foreclosure. The adolescent ensemble brings a natural innocence and childhood wonder to the thrilling storybook adventure come to life.
The star of the film and Goonies ringleader is Mikey, played by Sean Astin. As the child of actors Patty Duke and John Astin, he was not unfamiliar with the inner workings of Hollywood, but "The Goonies" was his feature film debut. In Gizmodo, Sean Astin recalls the excitement of being the lead actor on such a large-scale project:
"[A]t the Warner Bros. lot ... they'd roll down the window and the guard would look at us and say 'Hey Sean.

Tributes to filmmaker Richard Donner have been pouring in all week following the director’s passing July 5. One of Donner’s most iconic movies is “The Goonies,” and cast member Jeff Cohen revealed in a tribute post that Donner paid for his college tuition in the aftermath of Cohen’s career in Hollywood puttering out. Cohen starred in “The Goonies” as Chunk, a fan favorite character.
“The story is when my acting career started to peter out, I still loved show business, and Dick let me be a production assistant for him,” Cohen wrote in a tribute published by Variety. “I worked for him at Warner Bros. When I was applying to college, I said, ‘Hey Dick, can you write me a letter of recommendation for college?’ And he said, ‘Sure kid.” He called everybody kid. If you were seven years old he called you kid. If you were 50 years old he called you kid.

Jeff Cohen first met Richard Donner while making “The Goonies,” the 1985 adventure classic about a group of misfit kids hunting for treasure. Cohen played Chunk, a mischevious preteen who loves ice cream and prank calls. Decades later, he credits Donner with coaxing out his performance, but Cohen owes more to the late director than a memorable role in an iconic film. Donner and his wife, Lauren Shuler Donner, paid his college tuition and provided a critical source of emotional and financial support when he needed it the most.
Cohen is now a prominent entertainment attorney and the co-founder of the Cohen & Gardner firm in Beverly Hills. Donner died Monday in Los Angeles at age 91. In addition to “Goonies,” his credits include “Superman,” “The Omen,” “Scrooged,” and the Lethal Weapon series. It’s been almost seven years since a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series hit home consoles, so surely the industry is ready for GTA 6 to be officially unveiled? Developer Rockstar Games remains tight-lipped about the next entry in the crime series, but its release date now appears to have been narrowed down.
The studio’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, recently filed its latest 10-k SEC report and there was an interesting revelation in there. The firm is planning to spend a whopping $89 million on marketing between April 1st, 2023 and March 31st the following year. That’s twice what it would normally shell out on marketing.
So, why would Take-Two suddenly double up on its marketing expenditure? The only possible explanation is the release of a new flagship game, and that’s almost certain to be GTA 6. After all, the last time the company increased its marketing budget...

Expect a Splash next week from Josh Gad’s Reunited Apart YouTube series: Cast and producers of the classic 1984 mermaid comedy will get together – remotely – on Tuesday for the third installment of Gad’s reunion series.
Gad just posted a new teaser for the series, confirming what an earlier, briefer, wordless teaser hinted at: A Splash reunion. In the earlier, 11-second wordless teaser posted by Gad on May 20, a mermaid’s tail fin surfaces then sinks back into the sea.
The new teaser, set to the tune of Sam the Sham’s “Wooly Bully,” displays the Splash logo and the date and time of the reunion episode. Though neither teaser names names, the Splash reunion is expected to include director Ron Howard, producer Brian Grazer, and the principal cast. The comedy, of course, starred Tom Hanks, Daryl Hannah and Eugene Levy. (Cast member John Candy died in 1994).
