To the right is a small version of the cover for Entertainment Weekly's upcoming issue which will feature a spread on J.J. Abrams Star Trek, which is rumored to be getting a new, full length trailer very soon (Quantum of Solace is the film it is expected to be attached to). Along with the cover, which you can see a larger version of over at Just Jared brand new images have also appeared online featuring the complete cast in uniform, Sylar Spock (Zachary Quinto) putting a choke hold on some poor bloke, Eric Bana as the villain Nero and an effects shot of the Uss Kelvin getting destroyed. I have attached all four images below, but to get the full-sized versions you just click on each to visit the respective sites that got the exclusives and I will update them once they are made available to the rest of the web.

At the multiplex this week, we have some pre-Halloween gothic fancy, films about the two things guaranteed to start a fight in any elevator . religion and politics . and a little music from Nick and Norah and Jonathan Demme's infinite playlists.

When Albert Brooks went looking for comedy in the Muslim world, he perhaps didn't consider that it was alive and well inside our shores. Filmmaker Andrea Kalin picked up her camera and hit the road with Muslim American stand-up comics Azhar Usman, Mo Amer and Preacher Moss, who started the tour in 2004 to combat the negative stereotypes associated with their faith by sharing their unique brand of humor. The film intersperses their routines with personal vignettes that show how the comedians employ laughter as a tool of information to entertain, to educate and to show that a good mother-in-law gag simply knows no boundaries.

It's time for another geek boy roundup and this time it isn't all rumors, but there are a few to get you chattering. First off Joblo is reporting a rumor that Billy Bob Thornton is in the running to play Freddy Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street remake, but they don't really come off as confident in the report. There is news both Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will be released in IMAX. Joss Whedon talks about his take on Batman had he been given the franchise. Ain't It Cool News was asked to take down their highly negative review of Star Wars: The Clone Wars by LucasFilm. Those topless shots we saw of Megan Fox from the upcoming Jennifer's Body have apparently been removed from the film. However, Jake Gyllenhaal has no problem getting all nekkid for his new

Not too long ago, we told you about four new character posters that had recently popped up online for the J.J. Abrams directed Star Trek prequel showing Simon Pegg as Scotty, Anton Yelchin as Chekov, Karl Urban as Bones and John Cho as Sulu but those were a little blurry and low res. Fortunately, the Official Site recently posted some fantastically high res versions of each. Check them out below and click through for bigness. The film opens May 8th of next year.

J.J. Abrams’ reboot of “Star Trek” won’t hit theaters until May 8, 2009, but that’s no reason for Paramount not to kick off an early marketing campaign. TrekMovie recently caught a glimpse at four new character posters from the upcoming sci-fi action flick, and you can check out all of them below.
The new posters feature John Cho as Sulu, Simon Pegg as Scotty, Anton Yelchin as Chekov and Karl Urban as McCoy. I’ve never been a gigantic “Star Trek” fans, but I do have to admit I am looking forward to this new take on one of the most popular sci-fi franchises ever. Also starring are Chris Pine, Eric Bana, Winona Ryder, Zoe Saldana and Zachary Quinto.

At the recent Vegas-Con, Paramount released another set of Star Trek character posters. These feature John Cho as Sulu, Simon Pegg as Scotty, Karl Urban as Dr. McCoy and Anton Yeltsin as Chekov.
Once again they’ve bathed the characters in primary colors, making it difficult to make out clearly what they really look like in character, but at least it’s something.
Check out the four posters below.
Although in my opinion the most unusual bit of Star Trek casting was Karl Urban as Dr. McCoy, for some reason I have a feeling he’s really going to nail it. Although Simon Pegg doesn’t look the part, I think he’s versatile enough to pull off Scotty. Yeltsin as Chekov - no big deal. Just play it with an accent and wide-eyed. John Cho I don’t know about as Sulu though.
What do you think?

io9 has given the world four new character posters for next year's Star Trek. I can't say I feel great about every single cast member, although I love the prequel concept, definitely think the right guy is taking over the franchise at this point (J.J. Abrams), and think it's absolutely the best way to spark new interest in a set of 40-year-old characters.
The first character posters, released just before Comic Con, featured Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto), the evil Nero (Eric Bana), and Uhura (Zoe Saldana). Now we fill out the roster a little bit with, moving clockwise from top left, Scotty (Simon Pegg), Chekov (Anton Yelchin), Bones (Karl Urban), and Sulu (John Cho). Here's how the pieces fit together:

During Comic-Con, Paramount unveiled four beautiful new posters that together formed a complete poster that featured our first look at Nero, Uhura, Kirk, and Spock from J.J. Abrams' Star Trek. This weekend, Paramount unveiled four more posters at Creation's official Star Trek convention in Las Vegas and TrekMovie.com was there to pick them up! Seen on the poster this time are John Cho as Sulu, Simon Pegg as Scotty, Anton Yelchin as Chekov, and Karl Urban as Bones McCoy. I already expressed my love for the design of these posters previously, but they continue to kick ass. If only I had all eight of these, my walls would be entirely covered (hint, hint Paramount). This is our first look at all four of these characters and from what I can tell, they're a perfect fit. Abrams' Star Trek is definitely gaining more buzz! You can check out all

Photo: Paramount Pictures TrekMovie.com has a report saying that the first official screening of J.J. Abrams' Star Trek reboot has taken place at Paramount Pictures and the reaction in the screening room was "far beyond expectations." Principal photography ended four months ago and with only a few of the 1300+ shots are considered 'finished' it appears the idea to move the film from its previous release date of Christmas 2008 to May 2009 was a good move as a trailer for the film has been cut, but the effects on the trailer aren't even ready yet for public display. Current rumors have the trailer expected to be shown around the release of Eagle Eye on September 26, 2008. Transformers: Rise of the Fallen is also rumored to have a teaser trailer at the same time, a move that could bolster Eagle Eye's numbers considering the film is certainly a high concept feature that targets a similar audience.

The bloodshot, grin-wrinkled eyes of Seth Rogen and James Franco have been dopily gazing out from posters all over town lately. The pair star in Friday's "Pineapple Express," a caper built on the stoner vibe present in many of writer-producer Judd Apatow's comedies. But "Pineapple" is hardly the first film distinguished (or improved) by an appreciation of the sinister smoke. Here are a few classics renowned for going one toke over the line.

You know how there's a moment in a film when the bad guy does something evil, and you stare at the screen going, "That jerk! Boy, I wish he hadn't done that!"
Well, thanks to a feature on the new,
unrated two-disc DVD of "Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay," out Tuesday, that wish can come true. Through a feature called "Dude, Change the Movie!," you can alter the direction of the film at various key moments using your DVD remote.
The filmmakers did a great job of keeping these changes surprising, as some merely add a quick joke or two,

Harold Lee and Kumar Patel are not ready to call it quits quite yet. According to Variety, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg will return to write and direct a third installment in the series starring John Cho and Kal Penn.
Although no details about the sequel’s plot have been released yet, the story line will likely follow the two stoners as they get in plenty of trouble in Amsterdam. Cho and Penn are expected to return as the titular characters.
“Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle” opened in 2004 and took home $18.2 million at the box office. This year’s follow-up “Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay” collected $38 million domestically.
The film will be produced by Mandate Pictures, which also worked on “Juno” and the upcoming Michael Cera romance “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist.”

Comedy duo Harold + Kumar are returning for a third movie, after this year's sequel proved a box office hit.
Harold + Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay made nearly $40 million (GBP20 million) at the box office, off a budget of just $12 million (GBP6 million) - prompting film bosses to quickly commission a second sequel.
Actors John Cho and Kal Penn will reprise their roles as the marijuana-loving protagonists in the new movie.
