With ten movies and five episodes of TV shows to his credit for 2023, Dermot Mulroney seems to be vying to fill the gap left by the retirement of Bruce Willis. Ruthless proves he’s already mastered sleepwalking through a film every bit as well as he could. Sadly, he won’t be the only one sleeping as this film manages to make human trafficking deadly, deadly dull, that is.
Harry just wanted to go watch a movie. But he ends up telling off some kid who isn’t listening when his date says no. That, of course, leads to the kid pulling a knife on him in the parking lot. That’s not a good idea because Harry is a man...

Dermot Mulroney – action hero? Could happen.
I ran a piece not long ago asking where the new action heroes are. Some of our legends, like Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Liam Neeson, are well into their seventies and slowing down. An odd quirk of modern action fans is that they tend to prefer their heroes on the older side. Think of the biggest action stars out there. Are there any under fifty? With Tom Cruise and Keanu Reeves busy in A-list action, there’s a lot of room in the second-tier category, and now Dermot Mulroney, a rom-com perennial from the nineties, is dipping his toe into the genre with his new film, Ruthless.
In the new trailer, which Saban just put out, Mulroney plays a high school coach with a specific “set of skills” and a bad temper. When one of his favourite students gets abused by her dad,...

"Pick your fights, Harry!" "I will." Saban Films has revealed an official trailer for Ruthless, another action crime thriller from the direct-to-video trash pile getting a release this year. Ruthless is the latest film from director Art Camacho, and it's yet another of these "one man will fight to stop a trafficking ring" stories that are being used over-and-over these days. Not at all original, and not really an interesting premise anymore beyond making people endlessly fearful and worried. Also similar to the original Taken. In Ruthless, a high school coach, whose teenage daughter was murdered, takes matters into his own hands and going after the men who kidnap his student as part of a human trafficking operation. Dermot Mulroney stars as Harry, along with Jeff Fahey, Melissa Diaz, Mauricio Mendoza, Tonantzin Esparza, and Niko Foster. I will admit, Mulroney does look badass in this being so burn-it-all-down ruthless in here.

Joe Cornet and Alexander Nevsky‘s action packed western Gunfight at Rio Bravo was released in the US by Shout! Studios back in January and is available on all of the major digital platforms. This one will be titled The Last Heroes of Rio Bravo, and filming is scheduled to begin in August.
Cornet will be directing The Last Heroes of Rio Bravo from a screenplay by Craig Hamann, who also wrote the previous two films and crafted the stories with Nevsky. A plot synopsis for the third entry in the...

Art Camacho is known as a fight choreographer but he's also directed a lot of bad films you've never heard of. Now, he's tackling our favorite genre here at Quiet Earth: The Post Apocalyptic! Currently in development, The Unforgiven revolves around a virus wiping out most of humanity, leaving the rest deformed and incapable of procreating, except for Adam who is immune.. I'm guessing there will be an Eve too. No word on when production starts.

Stuntman-turned-filmmaker Art Camacho has made some of my all-time favorite direct-to-video action flicks, so it’s not all that surprising that I’m quite giddy at the mere thought of him tackling a post-apocalyptic thriller starring four B-movie veterans. The American Film Market just wouldn't be the Afm without the so-called lobbyists.
They are the guys who've earned that moniker because of their use of the Loews hotel as one all-mighty pitching floor. And this year's potpourri of players is as mixed and as colorful as ever.
An urban Kung Fu fighter, a fully finished juiced-up rap drama with Fredro Starr and a yet-to-be-made horror flick about a half-woman, half-spider are among the titles boosted by the lobbyists.
Penned by L.A. based martial arts expert and filmmaker Mark Hoadley, "Mark of the Cobra" is being put together by husband and wife team Mark and Sheila Hoadley. The married duo is busy here pulling together the financing for their $2.5 million passion project.
Sheila Hoadley said she felt there was "more respect" for the producers presenting to people from the lobby.
And her project has something else on its side.
