Just when you thought you had put Bush and Cheney behind you, voodoo necromancer Doug Liman zombifies one of their biggest scandals in “Fair Game”, a story about outed U.S. spy Valerie Plame. Yahoo is reporting that Doug Liman–the dude behind the kick-ass “Swingers”, “Go”, and “The Bourne Identity” who later sucked the big one with “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” and “Jumper”–had his latest picked up by Summit Entertainment. Starring Sean Penn and Naomi Watts, the film is based on the memoir written by undercover CIA operative Valerie Plame Wilson and her husband Joseph Wilson’s book, “Politics of Truth.” Jez Butterworth and John Butterworth wrote the screenplay. Screenplay by Butterworth, story by Aunt Jemima. What do you think? Will the Valerie Plame snafu make for a riveting political thriller? Or will this be Bombgate?...

Come post-Cannes time, ask me about my bottom five nomination predictions I've listed below, and I'll probably want to retract some of my picks - this year's competition in Best Adapted Screenplay is fierce. We have a strong contingent of scribes from the U.K in David Seidler's The King's Speech, Rowan Joffe's Brighton Rock, William Monahan's London Boulevard and Alex Garland's Never Let Me Go. - Come post-Cannes time, ask me about my bottom five nomination predictions I've listed below, and I'll probably want to retract some of my picks - this year's competition in Best Adapted Screenplay is fierce. With Liman specializing himself as a action man, the ensemble of factors as to why I'm looking forward to the film have nothing to do with who is behind the camera. With Participant Media on board, 21 Gram duo Watts & Penn playing real folk - this has the potential of being a hard-hitting commentary on how people on the inside get rid of problems. - #49. Fair Game Director:...

A biopic about the Godfather of Soul is an offer Spike Lee can't refuse. According to Variety, the Inside Man director has inked a deal with Brian Grazer's Imagine Entertainment to direct a feature film based on the life of the late R&B legend James Brown. The filmmaker will touch-up a screenplay originally penned by Steve Baigelman and later rewritten by Jez and John Henry Butterworth. Brown, who rose to fame in the '60s with soulful hits such as "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag" and "I Got You (I Feel Good)," played an active role in the script's development before succumbing to heart failure this past Christmas. Production is expected to begin late next year or early 2008.
