Ultimately, it was Hart’s family-friendly image that led to some issues down the road. True crime stories can be tantalizing, giving us a glimpse into the horrors of humanity from the comfort of our couches. There are tons of true crime documentaries on almost every streaming service, but sometimes we get dramatic retellings that make the monstrosities much more cinematic (and entertaining). When it comes to the case of Candy Montgomery, the suburban Texas housewife who murdered her neighbor with an ax, there are now two star-studded prestige miniseries to tell the tale.
Hulu's "Candy," starring Jessica Biel as the murderous mama, debuted on Hulu in 2022 and received mixed reviews from critics who praised the performances in particular. (You can read ours here!) Now, HBO Max will debut "Love & Death" starring Elizabeth Olsen as the killer Candy, and the latest trailer provides a peek into this absolutely wild case.

"We can never allow Betty or Pat to get hurt." HBO Max has unveiled their full official trailer for the true crime series Love & Death, streaming this April. Ready for yet another true crime series? This is a story most know already, as its been told plenty of times before. Two churchgoing couples enjoy small town family life in Texas - until somebody picks up an axe. Based on the true story of housewife Candy Montgomery, who was accused of the brutal axe murder of her friend Betty Gore in 1980. If this sounds familiar, it is - this exact same murder was already adapted into a streaming series called Candy, starring Jessica Biel as Candy, from last year. This looks like a more epic HBO version of this crime. Love & Death stars Elizabeth Olsen and Jesse Plemons as lovers Candy and Allan, with a cast including Patrick Fugit,...

Desperate housewives never got out of style on television, and in “Love & Death,” Elizabeth Olsen is playing a particularly troubled one. The “Wandavision” and “Sorry for Your Loss” actor stars in the final trailer for the HBO Max series, released this Thursday.
In “Love & Death,” Olsen portrays Candy Montgomery, a real-life Texas housewife charged in 1980 for the murder of her friend and neighbor Betty Gore after Gore was found dead in her house from 41 axe wounds. During Montgomery’s trial, it came to light that she was cheating on her husband Pat with Gore’s husband Allan, and she pled self-defense by claiming that Gore attacked her after discovering evidence of the affair. Montgomery was eventually declared not guilty by the jury, in a verdict that prompted outcry from Gore’s family and their small-town community.

"I just don't want anybody to get hurt." HBO Max has revealed a first look teaser for another true crime series titled Love & Death, arriving for streaming in April this spring. True crime media seemingly won't go away, and with the sheer quantity of films and television shows in the subgenre, it feels as if there are more low-quality programs than those of higher quality. However, if the trailer for HBO Max's upcoming limited series "Love & Death" is anything to go by, we could have a very high-quality and suspenseful series coming soon to our screens.
While this may be a story some of you may be familiar with, allow us to walk through the tragic tale being adapted by David E. Kelley for the streamer. Candy Montgomery (Elizabeth Olsen) was considered the perfect housewife in 1980s Texas until the charming Allan Gore (Jesse Plemons) entered her life. The two begin an affair, which threatens her friendship with his wife Betty (Lily Rabe). As tensions and secrets build, Candy reaches a brutal breaking point, resulting in one of the state's most infamous crimes.

Melissa Joan Hart is ready to blow the dust off her spell books and get witchy for Sabrina the Teenage Witch fans. Speaking with the Associated Press, Hart said she’d be interested in a reboot of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, but making it happen is more complex than fans anticipate. When asked about getting the cover back together to brew another concoction of coming-of-age comedy, Hart replied, “The answer to the Sabrina reboot question is, unfortunately, I can’t just point my finger and make it happen. There’s so much red tape. Who owns it? Who would pay for it? What network would it be on?”
Sorting the details of organizing a reboot is hard work, but we’ve seen the entertainment industry work miracles before. While talking with Hart, the Associated Press asked if all the pieces fell into place would she be willing to participate in the reboot.

Where most shows of the pre-streaming era poured time and resources into year-end episodes and Christmas specials, for “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” everything went into Halloween. As producer and star Melissa Joan Hart told IndieWire via Zoom, “Of the 26 [episodes] we would do that year, Halloween was always the biggie. That’s when the budget would open up and we’d spend a lot of money on it.”
The proof is in the petrifying pudding, with “Sabrina” creating some of the most unique, inventive, and memorable Halloween episodes of the 1990s. Whether it was alt-rock band 10,000 Maniacs performing during Season 2’s “A River of Candy Corn Runs Through It” or Sabrina giving Frankenstein’s monster and the Bride of Frankenstein couple’s counseling in Season 5’s “The Halloween Scene,” these episodes showcased not only a blend of spooky fun for the whole family, but also an uptick in star power and IP recognition.

Melissa Joan Hart told fans of her ’90s Nickelodeon show “Clarissa Explains It All” is no longer happening, People reports.
Hart was attending ’90s Con in Hartford, Connecticut, on Saturday and sitting in on the panel for “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch,” her other ’90s series, when she was asked about the status of the “Clarissa” reboot, which was first reported in 2018.
“We tried that, actually. Nickelodeon got a new president, and they kind of squashed the whole thing,” Hart said of the reboot, according to People, and referring to Bryan Robbins, who took over as president of the cable network for kids from Cyma Zarghami in 2018. “So it was actually in the works and, yeah, it just sort of disappeared. It took like a year to do the contracts, which was the hardest part, and then it just kind of fizzled out. So I don’t think [it will happen].”

The “Sabrina”-“Sabrina” crossover event comes in the Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa-created series’ penultimate episode, when Sabrina Morningstar (played by Kiernan Shipka) enters the “Other Cosmos” in hopes of saving Sabrina Spellman (also Shipka) and the rest of her loved ones from the Eldritch Terrors. It’s here, in this alternate reality, she finds herself the star of a long-running TV series, with her aunties played by Broderick and Rhea, and her *real* Aunt Zelda and Hilda are their understudies.

This Chilling Adventures of Sabrina review contains no spoilers, except for some information that was presented in the series’ trailers. It is based on all eight episodes of season 4 that were made available to critics.
“Once more into the fray, right guys?”
Let’s just bottom line things right up front here: This is Chilling Adventures of Sabrina‘s strongest — and most entertaining — season. So naturally (in what is rapidly becoming the streaming giant’s signature move) Netflix canceled the series just as it reached its creative peak. The eight episodes of this fourth and final chapter of the Archie Comics-inspired series have it making bold character choices and plot developments that are genuinely surprising.
Indeed, there is a finality to these new installments that make one question how soon into the production process the show’s creative team was informed of its cancellation.. Whomever knew what and when...

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will have two special guests for an episode that airs during the Netflix series' fourth and final part (each of the show's two seasons has been broken into two parts). Caroline Rhea and Beth Broderick are appearing on the series as the aunts of Sabrina (Kiernan Shipka) from an alternate universe where her life is a sitcom. Rhea and Broderick starred on the and WB sitcom, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, as the aunts of that show's Sabrina Spellman (played by Melissa Joan Hart).

Things are getting a little wild in the fourth installment of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Things are always wild on that show of course, but this time, Sabrina is giving us a little crossover with the original Sabrina—you know, the one that starred Melissa Joan Hart and wasn't utterly terrifying. In a new clip from part four, Sabrina (Kiernan Shipka) discovers that her aunts are looking a little different all of a sudden because they're being played by Caroline Rhea and Beth Broderick, who played Sabrina's aunts on Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Usually, they're played by Lucy Davis and Miranda Otto. Not only that, but Sabrina appears to be starring in a sitcom, directed...

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is going out with a bang, and that includes the crossover fans have been longing for! On Dec. 11, Netflix released a clip from the upcoming final installment that sees Beth Broderick and Caroline Rhea reprise their iconic roles as Aunt Zelda and Aunt Hilda from the '90s classic sitcom Sabrina the Teenage Witch - but with a twist! In the short video, Sabrina is understandably surprised by her aunties "new" look and slowly realizes that while some things may look oddly familiar, something is amiss.
We don't know what's going down in Greendale, or where our beloved versions of Aunt Zelda and Aunt Hilda are, by Miranda Otto and Lucy Davis, respectively, but we're excited to find out! In the fourth and final season of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, a crossover occurs between the Netflix series and Sabrina the Teenage Witch in which Sabrina (Kiernan Shipka) meets her “new aunties.”

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has always been keen to distance itself from the previous most famous adaptation of the Archie Comics character, classic 90s sitcom Sabrina the Teenage Witch. But the upcoming fourth and final season will tip its hat to that iconic show by bringing back two of its stars to reprise their roles. Namely, Beth Broderick and Caroline Rhea are returning as the old school version of Aunts Zelda and Hilda.
In this first clip from Caos Part 4, Kiernan Shipka’s Sabrina Spellman finds herself in some kind of weird, dream reality where she’s greeted by two women claiming to be her aunts. Broderick and Rhea recreate the personalities of their sitcom characters, with the latter even getting to crack a gag, which gets a canned laughter response, leaving Sabrina confused as to where the laughs are coming from.

Sabrina’s Aunt Hilda and Aunt Zelda will be looking a lot different (but probably very familiar) to Netflix’s “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” fans when Caroline Rhea and Beth Broderick — who played Melissa Joan Hart’s aunties on the ’90s sitcom “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” — take on the roles for an episode of the show’s upcoming fourth and final season.
In a preview clip from Season 4 of “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” which you can view above, you’ll see Broderick and Rhea reprise their iconic parts with a twist, as they are apparently the “aunts” of Sabrina Spellman (Kiernan Shipka) in an alternate universe where her life is a TV show, complete with laugh track.

"What are you still doing here? There's nothing left but a pack of wolves." Indican has debuted an official trailer for an indie comedy titled The Fox Hunter, the latest from filmmaker Patrick Shanahan. This has gone under a few other titles including The Hounds of Dixie and Cotton, but will be released with this final title. It's about a Southern family of blue-blood media moguls that falls apart "at the crossroads of past and progress in matters of death, wealth, love and American journalism." The comedy stars Reece Thompson, Madison Iseman, Beth Broderick, Brooke Butler, Olivia Grace Applegate, Benjie Anderson, Frieda Jane, Ira David Wood III, Michael Rupnow, and John Lescault. This looks a lot like Knives Out, but without a murder mystery, instead with way more quirky satire. And a bit of a Wes Anderson vibe. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Patrick Shanahan's The Fox Hunter,...

With the re-emergence of the pumpkin spice latte, there's no denying that fall is on the horizon.
By now, you're probably well aware of Netflix's latest addition, the one that's supposed to feed your October Stranger Things void, or as I like to call it, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
Though it was originally dubbed a Riverdale spin-off and Sabrina the Teenage Witch reboot, the series has taken on such a new identity, it can't even be compared to either anymore.

Although it's dark and gruesome, it's hard to not become obsessed with HBO's adaptation of Gillian Flynn's mystery thriller Sharp Objects.
