- (1979 - 1991) In the seventies Virginia became an expert in Labanotation - the written, pictograph language of choreography. It enables choreography to be recorded in a duplicatable form so that dancers can accurately re-create Broadway shows and ballets. From 1981 to 1991 Virginia worked for the Dance Notation Bureau in New York City, and is responsible for transcribing three George Balanchine ballets - Square Dance, Donizetti Variations, and Serenade. Her other Labanotation scores include works by choreographers such as Agnes de Mille, Richard Englund, Donald McKayle, and Eugene Loring. They are archived at the New York Public Library and are available for study or performance.
