Founder and chairman of Gulf+Western Corporation, which acquired
Paramount Pictures in 1966 and Desilu Studios in 1967. Paramount was a
failing studio at the time, and he helped bring it new success. He
employed Barry Diller, Michael Eisner, and Jeffrey Katzenberg to run the studio.
