Exclusive: Oscar nominee Jonathan Pryce (The Two Popes) has joined two-time Oscar nominee Steve Coogan in feature drama The Penguin Lessons, which recently wrapped in Spain.
Lionsgate UK has newly boarded the movie as distributor. Two-time Oscar nominee Peter Cattaneo (The Full Monty) directs for LA and London-based management and production firm 42, with whom he collaborated on Military Wives.
Vivian El Jaber, Bjorn Gustafsson, Alfonsina Carrocio, Micaela Breque, Tomas Pozzi and Ramiro Blas round out the cast.

Are you looking for intrigue that will keep you gripped episode after episode? Muted has absolutely all the quality elements to keep you glued to the screen all weekend long.
Muted (2023) About the series
First five minutes of perfect execution, with hardly any dialogue, all cinema: a girl on a bicycle, the city in semidarkness in short shots and a slightly illuminated window. From the top of the building, a human body is thrown or tossed, shattered before the astonished look of a woman.
A hooking beginning.
Then we meet a mysterious character who keeps silent and begins his probation. Barely ten minutes have passed and Aitor Gabilondo gives us, shot after shot, a lesson on...

Has anyone ever had a disaster-free road trip? Definitely not in the movies. In the movies, simply leaving your home is an invitation for disaster. In grand cinematic fashion, The Passenger is a film that showcases a road trip gone horribly wrong. Directed by Raul Cerezo and Fernando Gonzales Gomez, it’s a film that doesn’t necessarily introduce much in the way of new story ideas, but it delivers a story that audiences can embrace and characters that we (eventually) get behind and root for.
The Passenger embraces the often used set up of a group of strangers bound together, facing an external and malevolent force. Here, we have a group of travelers who all find themselves in the same rideshare, traveling to a small town in the Spanish countryside. Leading the group is Blasco (Ramiro Blas), a confident and slightly out of touch middle-aged man and former bull fighter.

Directors Raúl Cerezo and Fernando González Gómez are staples in the genre markets of Spain, familiar faces at festivals and screenings. The pair had been making short films on their own before coming together for The Passenger, their first feature as a directing team.
Cerezo had been trying to make for some time but the film's mix of horror and comedy was making it a difficult sale but the pair, both enamoured with the script, decided to jump head first into production with little time, a tiny budget, and the unknown of whether they would even work well together.
The movie centers on a couple, Blasco and Lidia, played by Ramiro Blas and Cristina Alcazar, who pick up a mother and her daughter, Cecilia Suarez and Paula Gallego respectively, in a car sha...

Traveling with strangers can be hard, but traveling with strangers and a murderous alien parasite proves considerably worse in “The Passenger.” This sharply executed, good-humored horror opus represents a promising first dual directorial effort for Fernando Gonzalez Gomez and Raul Cerezo, each of whom has a number of shorts under his belt. . Dark Star and Bloody Disgusting are releasing to limited U.S. theaters on June 3, with VOD and DVD release June 28.
The requisite “first victims” prologue finds two English-speaking backpackers on a rural road having an alarming encounter with a ghoulish woman in a silver red-carpet dress. Then we meet Blasco (Ramiro Blas), a middle-aged man who’s purportedly had past professional lives in the bullfighting and rock-band milieus. But now he’s living off the beloved if somewhat decrepit old camper van he calls “Nella” as a driver for hire. His customers today are all women, which is a tad unfortunate,...

Filming of La Pasajera (The Passenger) begins in Spain on August 24th and we were waiting for the cast announcement for the rideshare horror flick to let us know who is on this fateful road trip. We’re translating this from the original Spanish and because mi Espanol es muy malo I’ve entrusted the mighty Google to help me. Even then I don’t think we have all this down right. Such is life. For now invoking the names of Carpenter and Cronenberg is a good place to start. I’ll have to reach out to our friends en Espagne to know why mentioning the cities of Cuenca and Albacete is so significant. The cast will be led by Ramiro Blas, with roles in Rec 4...
