Killer Films had a killer 2023, and 2024 is looking equally rosy for the beloved independent production company. Fresh off the heels of scoring a Best Picture nomination for “Past Lives” (the company’s first-ever nomination in that category), co-founder Christine Vachon and Killer Films will be honored at the 6th Annual Kodak Film Awards February 23 with the Film Production Company of the Year award, alongside Celine Song, Ava DuVernay, Hoyte Van Hoytema, Petra Collins, Andrew Haigh, and the limited series “Swarm.”
Although digital continues to be the norm for film productions, 2023 proved to be a banner year for movies shot on film, as evidenced by the breadth of work from this year’s Kodak Film Award honorees, ranging from Song’s intimate “Past Lives” to Hoytema’s epic work on “Oppenheimer.” And 2024 looks equally promising for devoted fans of movies shot on film, with the buzzy releases of “Challengers,” “Nosferatu,” and more.

The Hollywood Legion Theater drive-in has announced an important upgrade for its “Summer of Celluloid” drive-in series, adding 35mm projectors for this year’s screenings.
With the new addition, the Hollywood Legion is now the only drive-in on the west coast to present movies in 35mm.
“Analog 35mm film projection at an outdoor cinema is a rare and special experience,” said Taylor Umphenour, the Hollywood Legion Theater’s creative director and chief projectionist. “In this case, we’ve decided to go even further by giving our audiences the unique experience of being able to see our film projectionists running shows through our transparent glass-walled projection tower.”
The glass-walled tower was custom-built to house the two projectors, which weigh 800 lbs. each. They were forklifted into the 20-foot-long projection tower in April and commissioned as fully operational earlier this month.

The performances are cool and the plot’s a blast in Steven Gomez’s watchable drama about a military exercise that takes a terrible turn
Steven Gomez is a visual effects supervisor who has graduated to writing and directing his first full-length feature. It’s a sci-fi action thriller whose borrowings are very plain, but it’s decent and watchable nonetheless, with an interesting central character premise.
Reprising much of the style and hardware of Terminator and Robocop, Gomez gives us the story of some Us Marines who in the future are ’coptered to a remote location for training. With them is a young civilian observer called Mills (Vanessa Kirby) who is part android, having been “cured” of paralysis as a child by a sinister corporation that implanted in her head new software and artificially created brain matter: this is the same tech that runs the battle drones she is there to inspect.

Rachel McAdams is in negotiations to star in Richard Curtis' fantastical feel-good rom-com "About Time" says The Hollywood Reporter.
The story follows a man (Domhnall Gleeson) with the ability to travel back in time who eventually meets the girl of his dreams. McAdams takes over a role which previously had Zooey Deschanel attached to star in.
Bill Nighy, Tom Hollander, Margot Robbie, Lydia Wilson and Vanessa Kirby are set to co-star. Curtis ("Love Actually") also penned the script and shooting kicks off in June in London.
Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Liza Chasin and Amelia Granger are producing.
Once wrapped, McAdams will shoot Anton Corbijn's new thriller "Most Wanted Man" which begins filming in September.

It looks like Rachel McAdams is going to continue the one-for-them-one-for-me approach. The actress has been oscillating between more indie minded/less commercial fare (relatively speaking) like "The Lucky Ones," "Midnight In Paris" (who would've predicted it would have been a smash hit?) and "State Of Play" and bigger/schlockier stuff like "Sherlock Holmes" and this year's "The Vow." But it seems the actress is getting a bit more risky and frisky. She's currently lensing "Passion" with Brian De Palma and the provocative first image was unveiled recently, and it looks like the rest of her year will be dominated by a rom-com and a thriller.
First up, McAdams replaces the previously attached Zooey Deschanel in "About Time," the latest from "Love Actually" writer/director Richard Curtis, that tells the story of a man who can time-travel who ends up meeting the girl of the dreams. For all those who love Notting Hill and Rachel McAdams, get excited. The talented starlet has jumped aboard writer/director Richard Curtis‘ About Time, a “feel-good movie” about a man who has the ability to travel back in time. After what will presumably be time-travelling adventures, he meets his dream girl [THR].
The man will be played by Domhnall Gleeson, son of actor Brendan Gleeson. British regulars Bill Nighy, Tom Hollander, Margot Robbie, Lydia Wilson and Vanessa Kirby will co-star.
Curtis has become a staple in the romantic comedy genre (responsible for Bridget Jones’ Diary and Love Actually to name a couple), as has McAdams. In fact, one of her more recent semi-successful romantic vehicles is The Time Traveller’s Wife, which shares a premise eerily similar to Curtis’ new project.
Production is set to begin in London in June.
Are you a fan of Rachel McAdams the romantic lead?...

Rachel McAdams is going to make you believe in the (sometimes supernatural) power of love … again.
The adorable star of such romantic dramas as "The Vow" and "The Notebook" is set to continue breaking hearts as she signs on to play the female lead in "About Time," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"About Time" follows in the footsteps of McAdams' "The Time Traveler's Wife" and "Midnight in Paris" as it adds a little otherworldly spice to all the kissy-kissy with it's feel-good story of a man who can travel through time and the complications that arise when he meets the girl of his dreams.
McAdams will be playing the dream girl in question (a role to which Zooey Deschanel had previously been attached), with Domhnall Gleeson (Brendan Gleeson's son) set to play her space/time-bending suitor. The cast also includes Bill Nighy, Tom Hollander, Margot Robbie, Lydia Wilson and Vanessa Kirby.

We first learned that Love Actually’s Richard Curtis was itching to get back to directing this January, when it was announced that he would make time travel romantic comedy About Time this summer. Now the cast is coming into focus, with Rachel McAdams snagging the female lead.Domhnall Gleeson (son of Brendan) is set to co-star as a guy who discovers he has the ability to travel back in time. But his talent may end up causing more trouble than it’s worth when he meets the woman of his dreams (McAdams, not entirely unexpectedly). You might think she'd have had enough with time-shifting suitors after her experiences on The Time-Traveller's Wife, but some habits are hard to break, we guess. While Zooey Deschanel had originally been attached as the leading lady, McAdams is now in negotiations to join a cast that also includes Bill Nighy, Tom Hollander, Lydia Wilson and Vanessa Kirby.

Rachel McAdams has landed a leading role in Richard Curtis' About Time , says a story at The Hollywood Reporter . She's replacing the previously-attached Zooey Deschanel. McAdams will star opposite Domhnall Gleeson, Bill Nighy, Tom Hollander, Margot Robbie, Lydia Wilson and Vanessa Kirby in the modestly budgeted time-travel romance, also scripted by Curtis and set up at Working Title Films. Curtis' recent writing credits include Steven Spielberg's War Horse and -- in what could be considered a time travel crash course -- the 2010 "Doctor Who" episode, "Vincent and the Doctor," which guest-starred Nighy. McAdams, meanwhile, recently appeared in The Vow opposite Channing Tatum and can soon be seen in Terrence Malick's still-untitled next film....

Masterpiece Classic brings one of Charles Dickens' most beloved tales to life in a three-part miniseries. Pip (Douglas Booth) is a child of low birth who is given the chance to rise above and become a gentleman. He has a mysterious benefactor paying for his ascent into high society, and he believes Miss Havisham (Gillian Anderson), a mentally unstable and extremely wealthy spinster, is grooming him to wed her adopted daughter Estella (Vanessa Kirby). There are other forces at work that Pip doesn't see, though, and as he spends more time drinking with his pals in tailored suits, he might be losing the qualities that made people have high expectations for him in the first place.
